The topic of BM issues involving the dresses seems to get brought up here a lot, so when I saw this on the Savvy Scoop Blog I thought I would share.

I love seeing all the "big hair" pix! Reminds me of my childhood, watching my older sister get ready for her big date - using the entire bottle of aerosol Aqua Net to get the hair juusssstttt right! LMAO!

I agree with the tips on the blog. When we went to look at bridesmaid dresses, I told them I just cared about the color... and then let them look through the catalog and racks to find dresses they liked. Fortunately there was one that actually fit them all quite well, and they all loved it. Unfortunately, the color the store had it in wasn't my favorite... but now I'm actually glad I went with that rather than turquoise because it's easier to match the flowers to cornflower blue. So it all worked out in the end. I think it was luck... I can't imagine what would've happened if they'd all hated everything they tried on.
I was even considerate about their shoes... when I found the ones I liked, I e-mailed them all the picture and asked if they liked them. Again, we got lucky because they all liked them and they were very cheap shoes. I think it helps having been a bridesmaid before to understand their needs.

I have been stuffed into way too many horrid, unflattering bridesmaids dresses in my time. I've been to many weddings and have only been to ONE that I wasn't in! So when it came to my wedding, even if my MOH hadn't been preggers, I still would have just allowed people to wear what they feel comfortable in.
I would have felt like a hypocrite had I picked out a BM dress after all the b!t%&ing and complaining I've done about them over the years...haha :)

haha!
now, the pic with the "rainbow maids" is a replica of my mom's when she married my brothers father....dang, i need to get some of his pictures(she doesnt have any, ruined by a sister in law of hers)....
the 1st pic, with maids in yellow, actually looks ok....given the era, i'd have worn it(same with rainbows), as well as the black dresses.....
the bride with the HUGE dress? my aunt peanut(our family salon owner), had a dress with a similar skirt....theres a picture of her in my mammaws formal room on her wedding day, sitting on her knees....the skirt and the train, take up the entire room! the room, is about the size of a 1 1/2 car garage-the kind with room for a car, and a work area?
buuut, my aunt is so pretty *sigh*
lol
