View Full Version : Peek a boo color

So I decided to try to dye my hair tonight (guess I am staying up later than usual tonight ;)) ... I am doing two sections of "peek a boo" color in a dark brown/black in the front and the rest will be the bright redish pink it has been for a while.

If it turns out right, you will just see a little of the darker color at the ends there. I hope it turns out like I want!

Here is a pic of me with the stuff in my hair ;)

Don't mind my face; I didn't bother to touch it up :p

Sounds cool, can't wait to see!

Well I just rinsed the dark sections and it is not as dark as I hoped; probably should have waited and gotten black, but this was what I had here.

I may still be cool once the other color is fresh and bright again. I guess we will see; I will post pics tomorrow of the final results.

Well as expected it did not turn out as dark as I wanted; I think I need to get black and do a little more of the hair. I think I need to get a trim for it to really work right too.

But you can see it a little bit here -

Edit: I may try to do it again today and leave it on longer and see if that does anything; or maybe I will go and get some black and try it with that.

I live vicariously through your hair. *sighs with longing* :chimp: Ah the good old days of just randomly dying my hair purple in the bathroom of a Best Western in Colorado.

(My life used to be slightly different...haha)

I was debating about going purple ;) But I really like the red/pink.

My sister laughs at me sometimes and makes jokes about me reverting to my teen years and probably wonders when I am going to start act my age :p

Funny; I went to the gyno (had to see a new Dr) and she asked me how old I was and was shocked when I said 35 ... she said I could pass for 18-20 and said maybe it was the hair color ;)

This is much better ... I may try to do more of the underside of my hair next time.

I am a little upset that the black seems to be fading more than I thought it would ... and I thought the red faded fast :p

Love the new colors! I wish that I was daring enough to put fun colors in my hair like that!

One of the perks of working at home I guess ;)

I use a temporary color so it only lasts a couple of weeks; it is already fading ... it will be orange and brown instead of red and black soon :bblol:

Yeah I had to cause it was all orange and brown instead of red and black by then ;)

I didn't take any new pictures cause it looks the same :frogg:

Well now that you know it looks so great you can go to more perm color.

Well it is sort of a PITA that the temp stuff doesn't last long so you have to redo it more, but it doesn't damage your hair as much as the perm stuff does. So I think I am going to just deal with doing it every few weeks.

What do you use for the red color? I dyed my hair black and put a few blue highlights in it...while I loved the blue, the dye faded so fast and literally if I even ran my fingers thru my hair they would turn blue. It also bled on my forehead, since I had a stripe of blue in my bangs...do you have that problem or was it just the dye I used.

btw I used Manic Panic..um midnight I think.

Right now I am using Manic Panic "Hot, Hot Pink" and the MP "Raven" Black. I used the "Vampire Red" before too. I like both, but the pink is a little more vibrant; it doesn't really look all that pink to me (I dye it over my natural/past dyed hair), but I guess it is not really red either ;)

Any bleeding of the color though?? I used a permanent dye for the black so now I'm stuck with it for awhile:irked:. I would like to put pink or maybe purple in it, but waking up with blue all over my face and pillowcase has me kind of turned off about the idea. I have heard blue is the only color that does that (and the fastest to fade), but I figured I'd ask someone that has ACTUALLY used some other color.

It only bleeds when it is wet, more so on clothes than your skin though (expect during the dye process of course ;)) But if you were to hang around with a wet head for a bit, then I would think it might get on your skin.

I have black sheets and dark towels so I never see it other than in the shower.

When we were on vaca in Florida back in April we slept on a bed with white sheets. I got hot one night and sweated on my pillow and woke up with a pink stained pillow. Luckily it came out in the wash so no biggie.

I know this is kind of late, but I love the way you dye your hair! I think it's awesome when anyone no matter what age lets their inner teenager out! I think it really suits you.
If my mother didn't work for the state and isn't allowed any unnatural hair colors, I could totally see her dying her hair different colors (like pink, purple, blue, green, etc..), but then, she's a metalhead at heart. :)

Yeah, I like to be a little non-normal; no matter what my age ;) I was telling DH last night that I don't know if I will ever go back to my natural color; maybe I will tone it down some as I get older, but we will see ;)
