I got a top and a skirt seperate. The top was $130 CDN and the bottem we had made. We bought the fabric and had friends make them for free. So they cost $45 CDN for all the materials needed.
This is the skirt

My BM dresses are costing the girls $156.97 (exactly). They are $165 at David's Bridal, but you get a $20 discount if you buy your dress from there.
Here is a pic of them from the website. This pic does not do it much justice though.

It looks so elegant on the girls who have tried it on.

I always felt that if you could keep it under $200, you were doing good. But it also depends on how poor your BM's are. :D There was only 1 out of Amber's 3 BM's who could afford $200, so we tried to find an inexpensive dress. I think it's fine though. Ask you girls and see what they think. That's a ver pretty dress, by the way. We considered it when we were looking too.

My girls' dresses were $150. But, what you have to take into account is that if you have to order a "larger" size or if one of the girls is over 5'9" that there will be an extra charge on that. So some of my girls ended up paying well over $200 for theirs because of that little deal. (Also remember that bm and wedding dresses run smaller than street clothes.)

Defiantely talk to your BM about how much they are willing to spend. Have them tell you what the absolute highest amount they can spend. Keep in mind, as Lacey elaborated on, that if any girls also need alterations they may have to pay for that. If you get your dresss at some place like David's Bridal the alteration costs are way to high. I would suggest to them to find an independent seemstress because it is less expensive. Your BM should also be aware that it may require a shoe purchase, accessories, hair or make-up. These things are not neccessary, but that if it is what you want then they need to know about it prior to jumping in.

I bought the dress pattern and a small piece of materail in the clolors I wanted. I was to have 6 girls but it got knocked down to 3.
My sister didnt pay a cent as she had this dress that she wore in a freinds wedding a couple of years ago. She was my matron of honor so hers was a little different then the others. But in a similar style and in one of my colors. She was supposed to be in light purple but that didnt happen but itjust so happened that I had purple and green in my dress.
My sister my matron of honor.

and my brides maids...... both bought their material and had them made. One her mommade it and the other paid just over $100 to have it made. Not sure the price of the material.

Another thing I have heard of is having the same style dress, but all in different colors that compliment each other. A rainbow wedding if you will. That sort of looks like what you did, Gwen.

Yup that is what I did. I was supposed to have a total of 6 girls but it got cut down to 3. But I had 2 of the colors in my dress that a gril was NOT wearing. The only color I didnt have was the orange. This was my intent though. Same dress different colors.

What I liked about them, other than the color, was the satiny look of the material! That looks beautiful in your pictures!!!

All the dresses are really pretty!
I only have a Matron of Honor in my wedding. She lives in DC, I live in Omaha. I told her to find a blue or a green dress that she likes. We are probably only going to get together once before the wedding, so it really doesn't work to go shopping for one, and with her living so far away and having to take time off for my wedding I don't want it to get too expensive for her. Not to mention airfare and hotel expenses. My flowers are pink, yellow and white so they should go nice with whatever she gets. Plus hopefully this way she can get something she'll wear again.

My MOH and BM's will end up paying $189 not including the taxes and the alterations that will be added onto the price. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/cherubfaces/BMdress.jpghttp://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/cherubfaces/Picture008.jpg

I guess my MOH got off pretty easy. Her dress was $50.00, and her grandma is doing all the alterations to it. I didn't have to buy anything, she did that all, but she did buy the dress while I wasn't there. It's okay though, because I have no BM, so she's the only one.:D

$180 probably isn't that bad, as long as it is okay with your girls. I told mine up front when they accepted that the dresses I liked ran around $150.

I'm really wanting to make sure my girls don't have to spend a lot as I have a BAD taste in my mouth right now from a wedding I'm about to be in, in a week. I have spent: $350 for the dress, $50 for the shoes, $55 for make up and $55 for hair, not to mentiona minimum of $100 for the gift + tax and any other expenditures I may come across!!!
Therefore because of this I have told my girls the colour they'll be wearing (light pink), I would like it long, and I would like it to be on sale. I've even told them that if they wanted to go to a local store and look in the prom dress section that would be fine, as long as they all agree, as I would really like them to wear the same dresses.
