This is my first attempt at actually telling the story of our wedding day so if it's a little scattered I'm sorry.
The day started pretty quietly for me. 3 bridesmaids, 1 groomsman (my brother), and 1 usher (husband of a bridesmaid) stayed at my house, but I was the first one up at 6:30. My married bridesmaid and her husband were up not long after I got out of the shower.
I got my hair and nails done first thing and my bridesmaid went with me which was nice. The next hour or so was a little hectic as I got the last minute things together and got to the church.
My first major snafu of the day was that we didn't have a sound operator for the ceremony! I was told that the church coordinator was supposed to get that together but clearly she didn't. Thankfully we were about to get someone to come over and he got everything set up and nobody ever really knew that it was a problem to begin with!
My MOH and I spent a good hour getting things finalized for the reception but everything was looking great when I went to get dressed.
The florist dropped off all the flowers and everything looked beautiful. The only thing I didn't love was my bouquet. It looked the way I wanted, but he built it upside down on the little holder so I had to hold it in a really odd way. Plus, a couple of roses fell out when I picked it up the first time! The florist was there so he put them back in for me, but it kept happening all morning and we kept putting the flowers back in. It stayed together during the ceremony (thankfully!) but as soon as I got out of the sanctuary after the recessional a handful fell out! It kept happening and by the time we were done with pictures there were more flowers on the floor than in the form and I had to carry one of the bridesmaids bouquets over to the reception. (I'm going to complain to the florist tomorrow.) Everything looked exactly like I wanted it to and was exactly what I wanted. If it weren't for my bouquet falling apart the flowers would have been perfect!
The ceremony itself went beautifully. I got so many compliments on it and I felt really good about it. Pictures took a little while, but all in all it was pretty impressive the way things were moving. I love my photographer and I know she did a wonderful job even without seeing any of the pictures yet! She was just a delight to work with and made everything so much easier for everyone!
While we were doing the pictures with the bridesmaids and the flower girl before the ceremony, i was sitting on the little stage area by the altar (it'll make more sense when you see pictures of the sanctuary). I went to pick up my flower girl and have her stand up on the stage part next to me and I got a little too much backwards momentum because as I picked her up I just kept going backwards. Thankfully I was sitting so I didn't get hurt, but because of the corset and everything I couldn't really bend at the waist so I just fell straight back and couldn't just sit back up! It was quite funny. The photographer was re-loading her camera (which is why i was picking up the flower girl in the first place, to get her in place while we waited) so there aren't any pictures of it but it will be quite a funny memory!
The best man (Jeff's step-father) decided to pull a funny on me and when the minister asked for the ring he had a pop top from a soda can with the middle piece sort of cut out of it in first finger and thumb so that I could see it and he said the look on my face was priceless. I seriously had to stifle the urge to say something. He had my real ring in his other fingers and dropped it into the minister's hand so nobody else really saw what he was doing.
When we kissed at the end of the ceremony, someone in my family (i have my suspicions who) rang a cow bell which has been a running family joke since my high school graduation. I didn't mind so much when they did it when i left the reception, i kind of expected that. But in the church i was really upset because it's just inappropriate. Thankfully I didn't cry, but I am not at all happy with them because my wedding was really not the time to try and dig at me and be obnoxious. I know they wouldn't have pulled that **** at a regular sunday service at their own church, so what on earth would make make them think that this is less of a worship service or that it's somehow ok? And that doesn't even touch the fact that they ruined the video too! Grr!
The reception seemed to be really nice, but I was busy mingling and getting pictures so I didn't get to really enjoy it. What I got of the leftover food was good though, so I'm sure it was even better the first time around!
When we left the reception our first stop was back at the house to vacuum out all the rose petals my dad dumped in the car. After that we went to AutoZone so we could replace a tail light in the car! We eventually got on our way to our honeymoon!
All in all it was a magical day that was almost perfect.
