As my wedding date approaches, I've been taking care of more and more details. At my wedding there will be a breaking of a glass, since I'm Jewish. Traditionally, this is done by the groom. Well FH has cerebral palsy so I wasn't sure he'd be physically able to do it. So when I went to buy the glass to break, I got a second glass to practice with. Well we practiced and FH was not able to do it. We thought maybe the glass was too thick so I went to the dollar store (I refuse to spend a lot of money on something that we intend to break) and picked up a couple of different glasses. Well we went home and practiced again with the second glass. Again, FH had trouble. It seemed the problem was that the glass kept rolling away when he tried to position his foot to stomp on it. So, just to see if it would work, I bent down and held the end of it while he attempted to break it. We had success! Then, because the dollar store glasses were so big (they were martini glasses), I got the glass that he attempted to break previously, held it for him, and he was able to break it! At the wedding, we're going to have the best man hold the glass, since I think it would be awkward for me to do it in my dress, shoes, etc.
