I am assuming that you are referring to the ones that couples pay for a website, etc where they can put details of their wedding for guests etc.

If this is the case, there are plenty of free ones out there. mywedding.com for instance is one a lot of people on here use.

Personally for me I am glad mine was free. I wouldn't have done one if I had had to pay for it and by the lack of use of it by my guests I am glad it was free.

I ended up using one of paid wedding sites. It worked well for us because we really wanted our own url and a decent amount of people seemed to have used it. I was reasonably happy with the one we used, no complaints but nothing amazing either.

I am using a free one on weddingwire.com. I paid $20 for my own url. Totally worth it to me. :)

I made my own. Basic HTML skills are easy to learn, and finding a host company for your domain name is easy too, and cheap. I pay $8/year for my domain name and my friend hosts it on his server for free. Otherwise you can find free/cheap hosts like Bravehost or Godaddy too.

Our guests really appreciate having all the information about the wedding in one place, or so they tell me. I've got everything on there from directions to the ability to book a hotel room (for our out of state guests) to a link to our registry.

It's been nice having a website where we can just update the site, and not have to call 135 people every time something changes!

Nope. we have too small and close a group of invitees.
We do have a gift list online though, and i chose a free one. it works well and after the day i can see who gave what for easy thank you cards

I also used a free wedding website. There are a few out there. To me, that's something I don't want to spend money on. Mine is basic, but it covers all the bases.

we used a free one too - and I think it's great. If it's okay to mention, we used mywedding.com. You can customize it any way you want, and have links to hotel info and registry info and all of that, post pictures, etc. With free ones out there, why pay?

We went with wedshare.com. A year's membership is around a hundred, but they have great features and had amazing reviews. We've been told by many friends and family that our site is by far the most impressive wedding website they'd ever seen. I've been recommending the service to every bride-to-be I talk to!
