OMG. Seriously, the past 3 days I have woken up with the worst back pain I have ever had in my life - which is really hard to measure, seeing as I've never really had back pain before...teehee :) You know, the night before we went to Texas, I woke up and my back was sore, but I thought I just slept funny, I had no problems there, but it hast just been ROARING since we returned. The past 2 days it has taken hours to unwind whatever is all twisted and painful in there. Typically after I walk it seems to feel better. This morning was by far the worst though.
I've heard turning the mattress can change the type of night's sleep you have - anybody done this with success? I'm gonna have to get DH in here to help me though since I don't think I currently have enough strength to lift the darn thing. :whyme: That's how bad it hurts - I'm willing to ask for help!
I'll let you know if there's any improvement...or if it gets *gulp* worse...

Back pain sucks! I hope you feel better soon & that flipping the mattress will help.

I also hope that flipping the mattress works for you! Little things like that can really affect how your body feels when you wake up.
When FH and I moved to this old house, we slept with our heads up by the wall... and then figured out that the floor is uneven... and we were both uncomfortable from that. We switched the side we put our heads at, and it was much better.

Do you sleep better on a firmer mattress? I assume that is how one might say flipping the mattress will help because it is firmer on the other side maybe.
Hope you feel better soon!

Flipping the mattress didn't work. I woke up an hour ago, which basically means I got about 3 hours of sleep. I can't find a comfortable position, no matter how I contort my body and no matter where I try to sit/lie down. The only comfortable position for me currently is standing...and that's not very conducive to sleeping!
Fortunately, DH fell asleep in his office (as he often does), so he's missing this delightful middle of the night moaning/cursing/shifting episode.
I guess I'm going to have to either A) get a new bed or B) go to a doctor or C) both.

Ugggh...sorry to hear that flipping the mattress didn't work. If you decide to look at new beds, check out the "sleep number" mattresses. They are expensive, but worth every penny! My DH and I have VERY different opinions as to what makes a good mattress. I like them firm and he likes them squishy so we could never agree on a conventional mattress. Before we got married, he called my bed "The Brick". (He had this horrible old waterbed that killed my back everytime I slept there) Anyway- when I finally convinced him to get a new bed, he instantly loved the sleep number. I never realized how much difference a mattress can make and quibbled with him about spending so much, but I will be the first to sing it's praises.
