We have decided to have an outdoor wedding May 8th 2010. I really like the wine burgandy color but do you think that its too dark for a summer wedding? I was thinking of pairing it with a watermelon pink and a light silver. Plus would it look funny to have the guys in the black tuxes with the wine colored vests and the girls in the pink with the wine accents?

I've seen many people use black for summer weddings. I don't think seasons really dictate colors. Remember it's your wedding, do what you want to.

I think these colors go well together.

You could soften the look a little by using a chocolate brown for the tuxes instead of a black too.

My wedding is June 20 and we're doing burgundy, baby pink and ivory, with burgundy being dominant. So, imo, it's just fine--I don't think the time of year you marry should dictate what colors you're allowed to have.

Thanx guys! I had first decided on a lavender aqua combo, but the burgandy pink combo suits us alot better!

I'm all about going against the norm or what's expected.
When I told people the bright colors I wanted to use, you should have seen the faces I got :bbeek: :bbeek: !!! I think the colors sound nice. Go with what you love!

No thats saying that yellow is too bright for winter. You are the bride you can choose any color you want. I want coral yet black.:bbeek:

While people usually associate brighter colors with Summer, I don't think you "have" to use any particular colors. As others have said; do what YOU want for YOUR wedding :)

If you want to brighten up a darker color, you can always use a lighter accent color.

Funny; I have had hair dresser's tell me I shouldn't dye my hair dark in the Summer :p I can do whatever the neck I like!

I wonder if those Hairdressers go round telling people with naturally dark hair to lighten up for Summer. :bbeek:

I got Married in a Red Dress. Although it was technically Autumn at the time, it was like a Summers Day. Even the trees were still Green and refused to shed their leaves. I carried a Bouquet of Red and Cream Roses with Black Feathers. Not exactly Summer or Autumn Colours. But Colours that i like.

Wear whatever You want. Trends are there to be mixed up and made Your own.

You don't decorate the house four times a year just because of Seasons. So why decorate a Wedding the same way. :winktongue: Go with what YOU want.

Off now to dye hair Blonde. Because there's a rumour going around that it's Summer in the UK.

 let us know how it turns out

we're doing stark white and black, with grey/silver thrown in...IMO those colors really remind me of a winter fairytale kind of theme, but i don't care, it's my wedding and i like it lol

I am getting married on July 3, 2010 and we are using burgundy and white as our colors. I really hate picking wedding colors based on what is considered "correct for the season." I say go with what YOU like, it's your day!!! :)

i had a friend who got married in may and her colors were wine and navy blue. it was a beautiful wedding. she added some white roses in our bouquets too. i dont think it really matters what colors you use in any of the seasons as long as you love them thats the important thing. i was going to have a june wedding with black and red as my colors, which aren't typical summer colors.

I love your color idea. You don't have to stick to traditional color ideas for a particular season. It your wedding and once in a lifetime right! I like what you said about wine and accents or watermelon pink. I think you are smart to include silver accents as well.

My wedding was at the beginning of August and my colors were dark red, black, and white. I loved my colors. :) It's your wedding, do what you want!

The last set of photos were GORGEOUS! I would've never thought about having burgundy and purple together. Looks very nice!

I think those two colors would be beautiful together and the pink adds a "summer" feel in contrast to the burgandy. I think gold would look amazing as an accent color. Not bright gold, but maybe an antiqued or light gold. Black tuxes are more than appropriate and you might even try burgandy shirts and black vest/tie combo instead of the traditional white. Just thoughts, hope they can help!

I think you shouldn't mind the season. It's your wedding. You should choose what you really like. Choose what will make you happy on your wedding :)
