So a new game (though I feel strange calling it a game) came out today for the Wii. It is called Wii Active. If you haven't heard of it this is the game: http://www.target.com/EA-Sports-Active-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001MBUGLY/sr=1-1/qid=1242774549/ref=sr_1_1/183-0124116-8356577?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3Awii%20active&page=1

If you like the Wii Fit, you will LOVE this. It is sooo much more of a work out, at least to us. The Wii Fit is nice, but it is more of a fun thing for me. This thing had me sweating. The running section is better, and it has you on a virtual track. Also if you run fast, it doesn't have your character fall flat on their face. Speaking of which your character looks like a real person.

They show you in a video how to do each exercise too. It comes with a resistance band, but it isn't all that great, it works - but it would be better to use a real resistance band.

There are a ton of different exercises, and various sports games (like you can shoot a basketball, or pitch a baseball, or play tennis that sort of thing). You can also make your own custom workout where you pick from a rather long list of exercises that are separated into categories of cardio, upper body, lower body and sport activies. It tells you how long the workout will be and approx how many calories you will burn (it is customized to weight and height).

You can use the Wii Fit balance board with it, but it is not required and I didn't even use the board when I messed around with it today.

There is also a 30 day challenge, where you work out 2 days get 1 day off, ect and it gets harder and works various different muscles throughout the month. You get to pick the intensity that you feel like on each day which I think is nice.

Okay now that I wrote a book (as you can tell I really like it), have any of you heard of it, or happened to pick it up today? I imagine it will be hard to get as word gets out about it, kind of like the Wii Fit was/is.

I am not really into all the games, but anything that gets you into being active is great :D

Ohhh that sounds so neat! Continue to let us know how your progress with it goes. We haven't gotten any new games in a while, but this may have to go on our wish list!

I'm going to be doing day 2 of the 30 day challenge today. Matt is doing his right now. I call it a game for a lack of a better word. It isn't a game though, it is basically a workout program that works on a gaming system. Hopefully it gives me as good of a workout today as it did yesterday, I'll let you know :)

I've seen the commercial for this. I'd love to get it but we don't have a Wii. I want one so bad!

I was thinking about getting this, I've always wanted the wii fit, but this sounds even more interesting.

I can't wait to see your progress with it. I'm very interested in this game, but we live on the second story and I'm afraid hopping around and all that will really drive our neighbors crazy. We had to give up DDR for the same reason!

I really want to get Wii Active.

I can't seem to stay with Wii Fit. I can't do certain strength and yoga exercises and it makes me frustrated. I need (want) to lose 80-100lbs. I hope Wii Active will be more fun. :)

I hope Wii Active will be more fun. :)

If fun is what you are looking for, you might be a little disappointed in it. Granted there are some sport options that are fun. It is a really good workout though (for me at least)

Okay so I did two days of the 30 day challenge. The day we bought it I did day 1 on easy, then Wednesday I did day 2 on moderate. I think I will go back to easy ;) - then yesterday was a rest day. I woke up yesterday really sore! Mostly the front of my thighs. Every time I went to sit down it hurt. But of course a good hurt if that makes since... although being sore hurts, it at least makes me feel like I did something.

Today will be day 3, or maybe 4 I'm not sure if they consider the rest days a day or not, they are the ones that tell you what days are rest days.

Hey Jacklynn, how's it going? We got it yesterday and I'll be starting the 30 Day Challenge when I get home from work tonight! I still want to get the Wii Fit for some good stretch/yoga stuff, but I thought that this would be more useful so we got the Wii Active First. I'm excited!

I really would like to try this game, but for the same reason as you, haven't got it yet. We live on the 3rd floor of an apartment, and I don't want to do much jumping or running. One time when I used the Wii Fit, I was doing the step aerobics, and the person below us didn't like it and started hitting the ceiling. I wasn't even stepping loud at all. But he can play his music so incredibly loud at midnight, that it wakes me up. Go figure.

I'm interested in everyone's progress with it. If it's really a good workout as everyone says, I may just get it anyways. I haven an elliptical and the Wii Fit, so it would add more variety to my workouts.

I live on the second floor and I was apprehensive about it, but I just did the first day of my 30 day challenge today. I did the moderate level and there wasn't more than 2 minutes of running in place or jumping at one time. The whole workout was about 20 minutes and included plenty of strength exercises where you weren't moving around a ton. Overall, I don't feel like it will be too much of a nuisance. (I really hope not!) Next time we see our downstairs neighbors I think I'll ask them if I'm bothering them.

Anyways, I did about 15 minutes of cardio in the form of bike riding on my way home from work. As soon as I got home I turned on the wii and started the workout at the moderate level (there are 3 levels). I don't know what the effect would have been if I wouldn't have had the pre wii workout cardio, but I felt like this 30 day challenge might actually be a little challenging.

In all honesty, the only working out I've been getting for the last year is working a retail job where I'm on my feet about 8 hours day/5 days week, running up and down stairs maybe 2 or 3 times an hour while at work, and biking a few times a week.

I enjoyed it the first day!

I decided to get it. After reading so many good reviews about, I figured it would vary my workouts. And omg, is it a workout. I workout almost every day. Either with the elliptical or the wii fit. And this was a killer. My thighs are like jelly right now, and I can tell it worked. I sweated the same as if I were doing the elliptical, sometimes more. This will definitely help me with my weight loss and toning goals. I will use it in combination with my elliptical, I won't give that up, but I think it will be great.

In terms of loudness, I don't think it will be an issue. FH is doing it right now, and I can't even hear him running. As long as we try to run quietly, I think we'll be good. If not, I don't really care about the guy below us, since he's a jerk. He's played his music way too much late at night, for me to care about how loud I'm running.

Oh sorry! I was out of town for a week and was only checking in lightly while gone. We got a little behind on it while we were out of town (only did one the whole time we were there yikes!) I will be starting back up tomorrow though.

Glad to see that some of you have enjoyed using it. We love it and I really am impressed how much of a workout I get with a video game program.

Saturday was a rest day and I had a horrible day, but I made myself do it yesterday at like 11 pm. I'm so glad I did it though. After my workout Chad and I did a custom workout together and had a lot of fun! Does anybody know if there's a way to access a breakdown of each day's calorie count, exercise time, etc? All I can find is the accumulated info from the start of the 30 day program.

SOO....after reading all of your praises on this "game" I had to go out and buy it! I LOVE this! I just got finished with day one on the 30 day challenge and I was sweating by the end of it, I was surprised! I think that this will deff. help out with my workouts! I am going to combine this with my regular workout and hopefully I can loose that extra weight I have been wanting to lose!!:)

FH just bought Wii Fit for my birthday and that is kicking my butt. My abs are so sore!

Now that I see this, I really want to get it. The fact that you can work out with a friend is awesome (one thing I wish you could do with Fit) as is the price!

I was working my butt off so much with this thing that I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot!! All of that running and jumping and I guess my shoes just didn't provide enough support. I got some Superfeet insoles from work and am doing appropriate stretches and am already feeling much better. However, I had to stop the 30 day challenge for the time being. :(
