Well, we got engaged in October, so I've been planning for a while already. My family is all out of state, and his family is small.
So far we know where we want to have the wedding. Gerald Ford's Birthplace in Omaha NE. It's actually really close to our house. It has a rose garden and a huge fountain. There's a few trellis's around too. We have rented a limo for that day because we have a large gap between the wedding and the reception. The wedding is private, just us, our parents, attendants, and my friends from Italy.

Ok, not sure why, but only part of my stuff posted. The reception is at another location in Omaha. They take care of the cake, decorations, food, and drinks.
We have my dress. It's champaign & ivory because my mom and I discovered I look horrible in white.
Other than that I go to check out flowers next Saturday.

I got the flowers ordered.
232
My bouquet will look similar to this only with soft pink & yellow roses.
My bm will have 6 pink & yellow roses tied together with a ribbon
The bouts will look similar to this:
233
My FH will have a yellow rose with his.
My mom and my mil will have a pink rose with the white stephanotis.
We don't need ceremony flowers because of our location, and the reception hall handles all the decorations.
I have more pictures of the wedding site I'll try to get posted tonight. It's really pretty right now with all the flowers in bloom.

I can't get the reception picture to come up. It's too large. But you can see the information at www.belairbanquet.com (http://www.belairbanquet.com).
I just ordered the invitations. They should be done soon. A friend of mine is actually making them, so we will have 'custom' invitations. I'll post a picture once I get them.

Here are two Native American Prayers I think we may use in the ceremony:
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place
To enter into the days of your togetherness
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.
Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you."

I haven't updated my Journal in a while. Things are going smoothly! I sent out the invitations yesterday. Everything is pretty much done and ready to go, just have to pay for everything now.
FH is working on a new tattoo for me. It will be this pic with a sun around it. Chinese for my middle name.

Great tattoo design as well. Getting that before or after the wedding? I am nosey. hahaha

I sent out 105 invitations figuring that's about 210 people. I'm excited to start getting responses. Hopefully by this weekend I'll start receiving some!
I plan on getting the tattoo either a few days before or the day of my Bachelorette party. I think it will be a good memory to have all my friends with me when I get it and Dave is designing it so that will make it special too. It will be a lower back tattoo.
NicksBride
03-27-2007, 11:35 AM
Have you ever had a tattoo before???
Wow, thats quite a bit of people. It is very exciting to get responses. Its always so fun to see those little evelopes in your mailbox. Enjoy it. :)
racecargirl
03-27-2007, 11:47 AM
Yep, I have a rose on my shoulder. Dave has 3 that he's designed, so I figured he'd be good at designing my next one. The one on my shoulder didn't hurt, so I imagine this one won't either.
I think sending out the invitations hit me that this is really happening. We've been engaged for a year and a half so while I've been planning it hasn't all really seemed real until now.

The reception site is great, too! Around where I live (South Florida) something like that would be $75 - $95 per person. That is why FH and I are having Sunday Brunch (which is $17 per person).
Crazy, huh?
racecargirl
04-24-2007, 09:27 AM
THANKS! We probably won't use decorations at the site. I think it will be fine without. We are having a very small, short ceremony, it will be just us and we each have one attendant and then our parents. And of course the minister and photographer.
I did a lot of searching before I found the reception site. This place was definetly the most reasonable and their prices have actually gone up since we booked them, so we are gettting a better deal than what's on their website now. I think what I liked best about them though is they do everything, the decorating, the food, the cake, so on our day I don't have to think about anything! That's awesome to me!

So I'm now only 29 days away. Can't believe it! I feel like I have something to do every day. Saturday I am going to go talk to my flower people and I need to change the colors. Light yellow and pink just aren't going to work. So I'm going to go with a darker yellow and white. Sometime Saturday and Sunday we are going to finish up some filming for the video.
I don't remember if I wrote about this in my journal. A friend of ours is making a video for our reception, it has pics of us growing up, interviews with our families, and skits with us. It's going to be very entertaining. So we are finishing up the skits this weekend. I also need to finish the baskets for my out of town guests. Hand making baskets and then have to find stuff to fill them with.
Next week I need to finish up some of the interviews for the video and find stuff for the baskets. The following week I pick up my dress, take my rings to be saudered, and my MOH comes in town. The next week we start the rehearsal. Our minister wants to go through two rehearsals. Plus Dave has his Bachelor party. The following weekend is my bachelorette party and final rehearsals and everything else, since it's the week of the wedding.
I just hope I remember everything!

So we are almost finished with the filming for the wedding video. I can't wait to see how it comes out! Yesterday we filmed me on horseback. It's been about five years since I last went horseback riding. Now my whole body hurts, but it was sooo much fun! The place I went was really cool too, it's actually a horse rescue. The woman who owns it has over 50 horses she rescued. I think all that's left is getting an interview with some of my friends and something with me and my MOH. Which my MOH comes to stay with me on Wednesday. Time is flying!!

The guy who is doing the wedding video does these for a living, however he is doing this for free for us because my FH used to be his boss. It will be shown at the reception during the dinner. It should be really funny. We've been working on it for over a year now.

Saturday was my bachelorette party. FH had his the weekend before. We started off at my friend Molly's house with drinks & appetizers. Then a limo came to pick us up. The girls had me wear a dare t-shirt and I had a tiara, a lay, a flashing penis pacifier, and a blow pop bouquet.
We went to a bar not far from my friends apartment and had a few shots and drinks. Got a few guys to do the dares on the shirt. One of my friends actually got a guy to give up a pair of boxers. She's the crazy girl of the group. She was trying to get the bartendar to strip for us.
Then we went to the strip club. On the way however the limo driver got lost and went by the county jail which got all of us dying in laughter. I've never been to a strip club before. Some of the guys had really nice bodies, but then there was one guy who was way too skinny. We all felt bad for him and thought he needed a gym membership. The girls paid for me to get up on stage with 'Hollywood' a very nice looking guy. Some of the other bachelorettes that night were very shy and hiding their faces. I played along with it. I was just happy I didn't get the 'stuff' in my face like some of the other girls did. Although he did spank me at the end of it. Ouch, that hurt. But it was fun. My fh went to the strip club where the girls were fully nude, so I didn't feel bad about going to the strip club and having some fun.
