I also posted this in my journal, but I'm excited so I am posting it here too :D

My mom and I found this dress. She claims it was the first one I tried on. I think it was the third ;) It is incredibly comfortable, very "me", flatters my figure very nicely (which is a challenge sometimes, I'm only 5'2). It's not what I expected to get. I was going for blue or green, not pink and purple! It works well with me.

I can't get a picture with the dress on me because my hands shake too much to keep the camera still and pose at the same time.

But without further ado...

Yeah, so don't mind my feet and the tie dye dress that I'm currently wearing in the last one ;)

Thank you! The neckline is really flattering on me, in a way that I was surprised. It's a halter, with some criss-cross in the back (I'd have to wear it to get a good picture of that, but I'm not sure how to take a picture of me behind myself lol). I'm going to try. I'm avoiding wearing it with FH around :D

Yes it is. It's going to be a bit tricky to get all the other stuff to sort not-clash, but I think it will be fine - we're growing (or if that fails, acquiring from the farmer's market) gladiolas of all colors, so it'll fit in there.

I'm really excited, it's going to be hard to keep it in the closet until August!

I saw this earlier and meant to comment on it.. must've forgotten.

I love the dress.. and actually was thinking that the halter top was great but then was second guessing myself earlier as to whether it was a halter or not... but now you've confirmed that it is! Good choice. The colors are absolutely vibrant and will make for some stunning pictures! Can't wait to see it on! :)

So, stumbling across other stuff, I found a tripod that FH bought off craigslist for $5 that I had completely forgotten about. So I have pictures of me in the dress. If you want to see them, PM me. I'm hesitant to post more than that little avatar of me (that doesn't resemble me all that much) on the forum for some very specific reasons that I don't wish to discuss :)

Thanks!

Would you all kill me if I told you that I changed my mind, and that is going to be the rehearsal barbeque dress instead?

My aunt dug out my mom's dress, cream colored... and it fits me really well. I'm going to need to get it hemmed, it's about six inches too long, but otherwise it's virtually my style.

But oh my, I'm getting some rainbow colored shawl to go with it, I'm not just going to be in white! :P (As you all can figure after seeing wedding dress number 1!)

My mom's dress is not as flattering as the one I picked, but it's a bit more "bridal" since it's cream colored, but it's not a wedding dress. It's the dress that both my aunt and my mom wore to their weddings, and both of them looked different (and good) in them. I think after it gets altered, it will look really good on me as well.

I did not think there was a chance that my mom's dress was going to fit me, and if I had known that it was, I would not have looked.

So, this adds to our budget (alterations and a shawl) but that's OK, it's adding in a way we can afford.

Woo!

I think it's awesome that you want to wear your Mum/Aunt's dress, I bet it will please them both very much!! ^_^ Whatever you are most comfy in, because you will look amazing no matter what you wear! Either way, you got a great deal on the above dress, and so long as you are happy it'll be awesome!!

Now, pics of new dress...? :winktongue:

PS rainbow shawl = LOVE!!!

This is the dress, I'm going to wear the other for the rehearsal barbeque -

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iJCf95tjkCE/ShtNgrpBHOI/AAAAAAAAACI/6SJQbeL0St0/s800/IMG_4201.JPG

I'm still in my hometown, or else I'd take a picture of ME in it...

I really was hoping for a dress that I can rewear, because it strikes me as a waste that a dress should only be worn once.

BUT...

I'll be the third to wear this one :D My aunt (father's sister) bought it. It's not a wedding dress, it's a cream colored off-the-rack dress that she bought after she found out that she didn't fit into my grandmother's (which I didn't even try - I don't think I would have fit a leg into it!). She lent it to my mother to wear for her wedding, and then my grandmother had it dry cleaned and sent it back. It then sat in my aunt's closet for 29 years (I know this, as it's the length of my parents' marriage). I tried it on, it fit, it looked good, and it's oddly my style as I'm into the vintage stuff.

My aunt said, "You know, after I didn't fit into yours [to my grandmother] I didn't really care too much what I wore... but if I knew that my sister in law and niece would have been wearing it too, I think I would have cared more!" :D

There are some stains on the bottom. That's not so much of a problem since it's going to need to be hemmed as it's about 8 inches too long. My aunt, beaming, told me that I could do whatever I needed to it, "I don't need it anymore" she said with a twinkle in her eye. She doesn't have any daughters, so she's always been very protective and loving to her nieces as if we were her own.

I'm thrilled. Giving that I'm about five inches shorter and thirty pounds heavier than both of them when they got married, I did not think there was much of a chance that it would fit me. 70's loose hippy styles pulled through for me! :D

I felt bad, in that I had so much fun shopping with my mom for the wedding dress, but she didn't seem so bothered since I'm now wearing hers. :)
