So in my wedding party I am going to have four girls, my 2 bffs and my fiance's sister and my sister.

My sister and his sister are normal weight and height.

One of my bff's is very short and round and the other one is tall and big.

My question is do you think that a long traditional dress would look best or a shorter more modern one?

I want all of my girls to look beautiful in their dresses. I was thinking maybe the shorter one might be best?

I was looking at davids bridal and saw this dress and I thought it would look good on all my girls what do you think?

I would think a tea length dress would be good for most heights. If you are worried about one dress that looks good on all of them, why not let them pick what they like ... of course you could give guidelines like maybe color and not too short or whatever.

I think tea-length looks great on most women. The great thing about today's bridesmaids dresses is that there are so many options. Like WebLady suggested, you can always pick a color and fabric and have them choose the dress they are most comfortable in. I've found that many girls are more concerned about the neckline rather than the length, too, if that helps any.

Another option is having the maid of honor wear a slightly different dress than the bridesmaids to have her stand out more.

I think it also depends on what kind of wedding you're having. Formal vs. informal, outdoor vs. indoor, etc...

Hope that helps!

I agree with Brandi's suggestion. My girls all had a dress from Alfred Angelo in the tea rose color. It was neat to see each of their personalities in the dresses that they chose, but it still came together as a cohesive look as well. They all looked good in the styles of dresses to fit each of their body types.

However, if you do want everybody matching exactly then I think a tea length is a good look for all. I'm short and long dresses tend to overwhelm my body type. My wedding gown is the only long dress I've worn in years! :D

Ok, first off.. Cute BM dress choice!

Second, for me, i'd have to know what time of year your wedding would be.. Warmer tea length, and longer if its cold.

That's one of the exact dresses I was looking at for mine! I don't think I'm going to get that one though, but I looked at it! So kudos on the great taste. :)

I am doing a March wedding and had wondered whether short or long would be good as well. I decided on short for a more "springy" feeling.

My girls are wearing different length dresses. I did a bridal party mock up on David's Bridal, and it looked fine.

Cute dress - my girls are wearing the Davinci version of that dress in fuchsia as we don't have DB here in Canada.

I think it would totally depend on what your girls feel comfortable in. Have you asked them what they thought of the dress?

Good luck!

I really wanted my girls to wear matching dresses in cornflower blue. But I decided that they were the ones wearing the dress so they should be the ones to pick it out. So I took them all to DB and in the end they picked out this one (http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998974&currentIdx=35&subCategory=-49998976%7C-49998975%7C-49998974&catentryId=1000145). As for my junior bridesmaid, she's wearing this dress (http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998973&colorName=Cornflower&subCategory=-49998976%7C-49998975%7C-49998973&top_category=&catentryId=1000079).

I also let the girls choose their length/cut of dress, since they all look dramatically different. Here's what my girls chose for themselves:

But if I were to choose a matching dress for everyone, I would have them be tea-length. I think it's more flattering than long dresses on shorter people, while still looking good on the taller ones!

Good luck deciding!

From now on girls wear a short dress and they are really looks good on that. I have a suggestion on the dress you share maybe try another color aside from green because it looks classy.

I had this problem with my girls.Well not the lenght. But some of my girls want strapless and others want straps. So I've decided to let them pick their own dress as long as it's my color.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Also, it depend on the formality of your wedding. Shorter dresses are not considered as formal while longer length gowns are.

Some would say that shoter dresses are for day weddings while longer are for night time.

Just depends on whatever you want. I am sure everyone will look beautiful regardless.:yesnod:

All my BM were big girls. I asked they pick the same color, I didn't care what type of dress, I wanted THEM to be comfortable. They all picked the same dress and its the dress you chose! It really does look great on all types of figures.

I think which length u choose can be influenced by the type of wedding you are throwing. If you are going for more elegant decorations and richer colors for your wedding and dresses, i think longer dresses are better. But if you are going for more fun decorations and bright colors for your wedding, i think tea length is the best.

Just my 2 cents :)

This is a great dress. It's David's Bridal and its in the price range I think that my girls would be able to afford.

I was gonna say what everyone else has already said: a good idea would be to narrow down the color options and let each girl pick what she's comfortable in.

Having said that, my fellow bms and I wore that same dress in the last wedding I was in; we all LOVED it, and we are all shapes, sizes, and heights. We agreed that it was our favorite by far (we have been included in a LOT of weddings...), because it was comfortable and let us move around and dance a lot.

Good choice, and good luck!!

I agree, ask what they feel comfortable in. :yesnod:
