Something old (passed down to you): My engagement ring was my grandmothers.
Something new (unique to your new union): My dress and shoes were new and my wedding band was new. Custom made for the engagement ring.
Something borrowed (admire from someone else): I borrowed my mom's heart necklase that my dad gave her for their 25th wedding anniversary.
Something blue (hidden so that only you and your FH know): My garter was blue and i had a blue dragon fly toe ring that my MOH bought for me. She bought a matching one in white stones for herself. :D

Jenn and Lizabeth, excellent job on getting those done! Amber, we have to get on the ball and get all those things for you. We will have to ask Granny what she has at her house to help us with the something old and something borrowed. But you already have the "something blue" garter. Remember?

My something new: dress, ring, etc.
something old: jerry wanted me to wear his mother's cameo broach (she passed away when he was 17)
Something borrowed: my garter belt (mom's when her and dad were married 47 years ago)

I didn't do it. I had enough to run after to worry about this too. But then again I went out of my way to avoid any old wedding traditions too.

I am doing the tradition. My something old, and borrow'd is the same item. I am borrowing my grandfather's wooden prayer book from his childhood, and tying my bouquet to it. It was given to my mother several years ago, and my grandfather has since passed away. I thought this would be a good way to make him a part of the ceremony.

Love that, Heather!!!! What's your something blue item?

Well, originally, it was going to be my great grandmother's necklace and earing that have blue stones in them, but that was scratched after I bought my dress. Then, it was going to be the garder that they gave me when I bought my dress, but I have since bought the garders that match my dress, so as it stands now, I have NO clue.
And I am really excited about usuing my grandfather's prayer book. I always pictured him walking me down the isle, but he passes away 14 years ago. My step father is walking me now. But since I met Josh, I have felt an amazingly strong presence of my grandfather. I feel that he hand picked J for me. I am having a hard time w the fact that my grandfather won't be there in person, so I am using the book, and my mom is going to carry a single white rose for him as well.

I did do this tradition. We even took pics of it! Here they are:
My something old was a filigree flower pin that I found at an antique store. Jason soldered it to a hair pin for me. It's kind of hard to see in this picture.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/usahgrad/Wedding%20Pics/831%20Pictures/CRW_8650.jpg
My something new was a pair of diamond earrings that Jason gave me for Valentine's Day that I saved specifically for this. I still have them in my second holes! I haven't taken them out at all!
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/usahgrad/Wedding%20Pics/831%20Pictures/CRW_8651.jpg
My something borrowed was the pearl necklace my father gave my mother just before he died. I have worn this at all of my important events in my life, so this was no different. These were also my aunt's something borrowed in her wedding nineteen years ago!
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/usahgrad/Wedding%20Pics/831%20Pictures/CRW_8652.jpg
My something blue was the garters that I made out of the same fabric that we made the bridesmaids' dresses out of. They were BY FAR not perfect, but they did the job!

And a sixpence for her shoe!

It's an English coin put in the bride's shoe. It's supposed to bring good luck and fortune to the married couple. Ironically enough, it's more of a Scottish tradition than it is an English one.

I have no idea. But since I figured that since it's free money from the forum, I am really not paying anything anyway. And it's kinda neat that the coin is frm the year 1711.

If E-Bay falls through. Check a bridal store. I just saw a sixpence in a bridal store or in a store near bridal accessories not too long ago.
My something old and borrowed may be the same thing: My mother's sixpence.
My something new will be my dress, shoes, etc.
My something blue will be panties, I guess.

I did this more for the fun of it all.
My something old was my promise ring Nicholas gave me on Valentines Day last year. It got switched to my right hand after I got my engagment ring. It is a little tight but I couldnt leave it off. I tried. ( he has a ring on both hands as well now that he had his wedding band on, I bought him a ring and had it engraved for him, he wears it always , it never comes off.)
My something new was my dress and every thing else.
My something borrowed was my jewlery I borrowed from a girl at work. )It was going to be my veil. I had my sisters veil but I got a white dress and her veil is ivory so that was out.)
My something blue was my garter. One had a blue ribbon on it and that one was for throwing and the other had a blue sparled horse shoe on it.

This is what I had:
Something old: I had my dress designer sew in a pocket on the inside of my dress, and in it I put a letter my late grandmother wrote to me when I was a little girl.
Something New: My dress, shoes, jewlery etc.
Something borrowed: My aunt lent me her 'lucky stone', which I gave to her 20 years ago on her wedding day (when I was 9years old).
Something Blue: I wore blue underwear that said "The future Mrs. Kilpatrick"

I had forgotten about this.
I had gotten my daughter a bonnett when she was a baby that came with a little saying. Somethign about it being a bonnett for the baby to wear but turns into a hanky for her to carry on her wedding day. It is white with blue ribbon along the edges. I did have her wear it a couple of times. With the dress I had on her at the time she looked like a baby off from Little House on The Praire. I have it put away for her.

Something Old ~ My diamond pinkey ring. It was a surprise from my granny, it has the diamonds from her wedding band.
Something New ~ My dress (I had it for 2 years but never wore it. It was a $120 dress marked down to $3.77. I bought it just in case I needed a dress for a summer wedding, how was I to know I would get married in it.)
The amber colored earrings and necklace I bought the day before.
The tiara, my friend bought me on her summer vacation.
And of course my ring.
Something Borrowed ~ A shawl from a co-worker who was nice enough to do my hair and makeup. It matched perfectly with my dress.
Something Blue ~ My aquamarine ring. My granny bought it when I was a baby.

My mother also told me, just yesterday, that for the tradition she is making me something....
A blue satchel of silk (tiny to pin to my bra). Inside, she's going to place a picture of her parents (they both passed away recently) and she's going to lend me the Mother's ring that she had given to my grandmorther. She's putting the ring inside the satchel, but I think (if it can fit any finger) that i'm going to wear it. I cried when she told me she was doing this for me.:bawling:

Something borrowed (admire from someone else): I don't really know what to use for this either. I've got a while to figure it out though.
Something blue (hidden so that only you and your FH know): LOL This is going to sound so weird to some of you. I'm actually attaching a blue silk blanket binding from when I was little, to my garder. It's the only blue thing I could think of and I thought it was a pretty cute idea :).
