Don't expect to hear from me ever again. I am going to be buried neck deep in paint, flooring, carpet, and IKEA for the next 6 months. :bbeek:

Thanks, ladies! I am so crazy excited. We are meeting a carpet guy there this afternoon, and bringing over all of the flooring and paint we've accumulated this week. We might throw up our first splash of paint and start ripping up carpet. The only thing I'm really anxious about is that we can't get internet there until June 4th! I am going to be spending a lot of time in cafes and libraries getting my work done. :irked:

OK, I came back to say hi! We have been sosososososoSO busy with wedding season, we've barely had time to do anything to the house. But I did post some photos of what we got done before we moved in on Flickr. They are in the same set, you just have to keep going: http://www.flickr.com/photos/12698507@N08/sets/72157616381868623/

So, it's been a year now. JD surprised me this evening by ripping up tack strips in the master bathroom and painting the walls orange! Our poor bathroom has been the most neglected room in the house. We still have the subfloor instead of the tile (which is sitting in our bedroom, waiting to be installed), the walls aren't painted, and I still need to move all of my clothes into the closet! But tonight, JD made major progress.

Here's a look at the major accomplishments so far in the house:

-CONQUERED THE BOXES!! The dining room, breakfast room, game room, and my office all got cleared somewhere along the way!
-did all painting except little details, master bath, nursery
-got carpet ripped up and installed
-completed wood flooring except master bath, finishing details in my office
-set up my office (including box cleaning flooring, painting, furniture)
-purchased and set up almost all of the furniture we need
-cleared the nursery to make room for baby Finn

Stuff we still need/want to do:

-complete painting details
-complete flooring details
-lay tile in the master bathroom
-paint the nursery
-modify guest bathroom cabinet to fit litterbox, including cat door
-order prints and hang art (we have NOTHING on our walls-shame on us artists!)
-install beadboard over the painted textured wallpaper on the stairs and in the hallway
-clear the garage of all the junk we clearly haven't been missing all year
-garage sale!
-replace the old kitchen countertop with new, probably tile so we can DIY ($$$)
-at the same time, get a new sink
-purchase a breakfast table, or move my old desk table out of the game room to use as a bfast table
-overhaul the koi pond (currently a mosquito breeding den)
-paint over water damage on dining room ceiling

There's a long way to go...but there are certain items (like the guest bathroom litterbox cabinet, master bathroom tile, and nursery) that we want to have done before Finn makes his appearance. We should be good on those-we're good with hard deadlines! :laugh2:

That's quite a list Jessica! I'm sure Finn will be good incentive to get on the ball. I know there's a list of stuff that will never get done around here...LOL ;)

Totally! I was thinking we'd have to wait yearsssss before redoing the counters, but we were at Lowe's a couple weeks ago and I saw tiled countertops and realized DUH that would be perfect for my El Cheapo self!

I told JD my wish for the house this morning. I want to go on vacation and come back to all of the stuff done and maybe a visit from a maid too! :laugh2:

I clicked on this thread and thought, wow, I didn't know Jessica was buying a house right now and wondered where I have been to have missed out on that news. And then I saw the house and thought, wow that's a gorgeous house and was going to reply and tell you how much I love your new house! Then I saw that I had already responded on 5/14. I thought I was losing my mind because I didn't remember even knowing your were buying a house and I certainly didn't remember responding to this thread a few weeks ago. Then I figured out that this thread was started in 2009. Duh!

I really love your house. I love the exterior color so much! It looks like you will have plenty of things to keep you busy on your to do list!! I know ours seems never ending. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

I am hoping we can tackle more than what's on our pre-baby to do list before Finn makes his arrival, but I will just be happy if we get the litterbox cabinet cutting done, our master bathroom tiled, and of course Finn's room wrapped up. It sounds like a lot, but it's really not that much! Although it would be awesome to get the painting details done. My mom has said we should do a painting day and I might have to take her up on it!

My mom has said we should do a painting day and I might have to take her up on it!

Have a painting party. Get everyone you know round. Supply plenty to eat and drink. Put some music on. Give everyone a paint brush and away you all go. Everyone mucks in.

Before you look round, a room is complete in a couple of hours. ;)

It doesn't have to be just painting either. Flat-pack furniture need building? Tiling need doing? Yard work? Cleaning units out?

I bet if a few OW Ladies lived nearer they would be there in a jiffy. I know i would if it was possible.

So the nursery is pretty done!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4850359220_ccca8625d3_b.jpg

The only things in there we didn't have to assemble, sew, paint, or recover were the carpet, rocking horse and the bed! The walls are a light green but you can't really tell in this photo. I am tired just looking at it.

We are putting the finishing touches on this bookshelf. We are either going to take the bed out of the nursery and put this bookshelf in there, or keep the bookshelf in the game room.

JD has also been busy in the bathroom! We have a bit of tile down and some more painting done:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/4849813777_6956e701ff_b.jpg

Just imagine walking through *that* war zone about 5 times every night and morning while you have to pee! :frantic:

Yesterday, JD started working on turning our guest bathroom cabinet into a litterbox cabinet. He cut the middle piece of the doors out and added a hinge so we can easily put it in and take it out. Now he's just got to add a cat door to the side so we can close it all up. I told him he has to do it before adding any more tile to the other bathroom so that I can use the guest bathroom to go pee at night and get ready in because we can't stand or walk on the tiles when the mortar is setting.

He also finished painting our room! No photos of that but it was a big step!

Here's what's done/in progress:
-complete painting details (almost done! Just the bathroom, my office, and living room to go)
-lay tile in the master bathroom (in progress)
-paint the nursery (Done!)
-modify guest bathroom cabinet to fit litterbox, including cat door (in progress)

What's still left to be done:

-complete flooring details (my office, quarter round in living room)
