I was just curious to see how many of us are having our ceremony and reception in the same spot, or are you going to drive to your reception after your ceremony. Please explain.

My ceremony and reception were in the same place. In fact, because of the weather, my ceremony took place on our dance floor. We left to go do pictures at a different spot and then came back to the place. From what I hear, apparently the mounds of hors o'deurves and the park for the kids wasn't enough for some people. Some people just can't be happy no matter what you do...the one who complained the most did the EXACT SAME THING at her wedding! ACK! Whatever!

Ours were at different places about 45 minutes apart. I really wish I would have told my grandmother to cram it and not have gotten married in her church considering how I was treated as the wedding drew closer. If I had to do it again, I would have had it all in one location so that I could have had the civil ceremony that I wanted.

Ours is all at teh same place...which is one of the main reasons that I chose it!!! It allows me to have my outdoor gazebo wedding ceremony and indoor elegent reception all in one!!!

Our ceremony and reception are at different locations. The ceremony will be at the church. Then a short 8 minute drive (yes, it's exactly 8 minutes, Steve felt the need to time it!) to the fire house for the reception.

Our ceremony was on the farm and our reception was a half hour to forty five minute drive away. People complained but hell I didn't care! lol

Our ceremony and our reception will be in the same place. Actually it will be in the same room. I had wanted a church wedding, but our church is to small for all of our guests. However, the church is coming to us! Our pastor is still going to be there to perform the ceremony and we are inviting all of the church members.

We are driving to our reception site. There is about a 15-20 minute drive from the ceremony site to the reception site.

Amber's wedding & reception will take place at the Red Mountain Ranch Country Club, in Mesa, Arizona. The ceremony will be in the Red Mountain Room, and the reception will be held a few feet away in the Overlook Room.

Mine were to be in different places but due to weather we had them in the same places.

I was going to have the ceremony in my sisters yard. But with the rain lasting for days before there was no way. And the town is not very big any way. So the hall was only at most with trafic ( yeah right not in this town lol ) 5 mins tops. I'd say about 3 if that lol.

We had put the arch in the corner of the room so that it was out of the way of every thing else. We left and went outside for some pictures and then back in for a few more before the reception started. It was nice to have every one in one place so no one was missing for any pictures I wanted. SOme of the guests left before the dancing even started. Didnt bother me, the ones who were still there were the ones who mattered.

Our ceremony is at the church and the reception is in the church hall. We decided on that for convenience. My FMIL uses a cane, my FFIL uses a walker and my FH's grandmother is in a wheelchair. Also, it will be February in Western PA, I didn't want to stomp around in snowy, slushy weather in my beautiful dress. Heaven forbid the roads are a little crummy, we'd never hear the end of it from certain guests.

My FSIL's ceremony site and reception site are about a 1 hour drive apart from each other. I thought that was a little much, but whatever works for her, right?

Wow, Nikki, that's a long drive! But the nice thing is that you could go over all the aspects of what happened at the ceremony on the way to the reception. And of course you could start the champagne flowing too! :p

We are getting married outdoors, see my journal for a pic. And the reception is at another location about 10 minutes away, however we will have a few hours between the wedding and the reception. My FMIL has MS and she will need a few hours in between to rest.

Our cake and punch reception (what I'm calling it) is at the church, then we drive 10 minutes to the formal reception with the band and dancing, you know the stuff we aren't allowed to do at church but are gonna do anyway!

As it should be!! Dancing and bands (or DJs) are an important part of a wedding IMO!! :)

Our ceremony is going to be on top of a mountain. We're not having a reception. We have decided we are going to spend the night on the mountain with some friends that night. Then we will have a small get together the next day at our house. Not really a reception though. The only part of the reception that we will do is have cake and feed each other a bite. That way I can use the cake topper I made.;)

LOL! We hike up that mountain all the time so it won't be bad for us. But our parents and friends never do anything like that so I am a little worried about them.

Actually I have always struggled with my weight, up and down all the time. I finally got it under control 4 or 5 years ago. I never go by what the scale says though because I have alot of muscle so even though I wear an 8/10 in jeans the scale says I weigh alot!! Usually when I diet I will notice it in my clothes but not the scale. I have to keep telling myself that muscle weighs more than fat.........

It would kill me. I just know it would. Everybody would go to the wedding, and then to my funeral. LOL!!

Me too! I had a class on the 5th floor during the first summer session. I made myself climb those stairs every morning. I did it even though I didn't like it, but hiking up a mountian. I don't know if I could do it.

We did everything in one place. We had the ceremony in one room, then everyone moved to the cocktail area, and then into the largest room for the reception. I think it worked best, because it was all in one place.

Our wedding and reception are in the same building, I am hoping for some people that go to the actually wedding to not come to the reception because the church sanctuary holds 225 people and the RH will only hold about 175/200 depending on how we set it up and the size of the dance floor. I have to cut down my 297 people guest list haha

We're having a church wedding but we want alcohol at the reception. The church forbids it so we're having it at another location. The other location is about 10 miles (20 - 30 minutes) away.

Our wedding and reception will be in two different places and with a long time delay as well. Our wedding will be at 11:30am and we'll have a luncheon afterwards before we go to take our photographs. Then, after photographs and clothing changes, our reception is being held about 20 mins away from the ceremony, but doesn't start til 6pm. Am I crazy?:bbeek:

Ours are not in the same location. Our reception site is about 20 minutes away from our ceremony site. We are starting our ceremony at 2 (I think) so everyone will be able to make it to the reception before dark. In NY at that time it will be getting dark around 4-4:30, and didn't want people not familiar with the area or older people driving around in the dark. :)

Ours will be at 2 locations. The main reason for that is because the hall at the church where we will be getting married is pretty run down.
