There is sort of a stereotype that women love shoes ... do you?
What kind of shoes do you like ... how many pairs of shoes do you own ... do you wear all the shoes you have?
Discuss ... poll coming ;)

So I voted that I love sandals cause I do; especially flip flops for some reason ;) I have about 10 pair of sandles, mostly flip flips. I just love the easy on and off thing and the summery feel I guess.
I have a couple of more causal shoes and a pair of sneakers and a couple pair of nicer shoes for when I have to dress up.
Back in the day when I use to work in a shoe store I use to have LOTS of shoes; I probably had 50 pair at one point.
I saw the topic and jumped! haha.. :whoohoo:
I love shoes. I've always loved shoes. I will always love shoes.
At last count, I had about 70 pairs. This doesn't include flip-flops, which I have about 10 pairs of, or sneakers. I put in display shelves on one wall of my walk-in closet for my shoes. I find that I wear more of them now since putting in the shelves because I can actually see the shoes when I pick out my outfit and find the right pair to wear. I have a mixed variety of colors, styles, materials, heels. One thing I'm lacking though are flats. I think they're adorable... on other people... but I simply can't get excited about them. They make me feel so short-- and I'm 5'8"!! (I know, it's all psychological... just like how I'm allergic to khakis. :petrified:) :p

I like shoes, but I'm the sort of person who makes a uniform for herself and wear the same stuff over and over.
I have:
1 pair of sneakers
1 pair of sandals
1 pair of dress boots
2 pairs of snow boots (one with a hole that needs to be repaired)
1 pair of ski boots
1 pair of high heels that need to be repaired
1 pair of low heals
1 pair of goofy sandals from Russia that I don't see myself wearing again, since they'll fall apart.
FH has:
1 pair of sneakers
1 pair of hiking boots
1 pair of snow boots
1 pair of ski boots
1 pair of sandals
1 pair of dress shoes
1 pair of combat boots
FH's take up more room though, since he's got size 14 feet :bbeek:

I voted 'Other' because there wasn't an option for 'I hate shoes'.
I have one pair of shoes that I wear every day. I have a pair of basic black pumps for dressing up, and I have a set of sneakers to go to the gym.
I bought two more pairs of shoes for the wedding. A pair of boots and some summery wedge slingbacks, which I can't see myself ever wearing again, unless it might be on the honeymoon, if we dress up to go to dinner at a fancy place somewhere. I bought those shoes specifically to go with the dress, so if I wear the dress, I wear those shoes.
So, I now have a total of 5 pairs of shoes, two of which I wear on a regular basis.
I just can't see the reason for buying hundreds of pairs of them. And they don't do anything emotional for me either. They're just shoes. You wear them so you can protect your feet, end of story.

I have always liked shopping for shoes! Shoes and purses always fit. ;) Jeans do not. LOL. I'm not super crazy about them, but I do enjoy buying a new pair now and then and I have a good variety from sport to super dressy.
Now that I work at a store that sells quality shoes I am much more particular about good arches, stitching, shape, etc. It's actually kinda annoying! Now I'm all about function and looks where before it was all about the looks. The problem I have is finding shoes that don't contain leather. It's difficult!
So, yeah, I'm always on the lookout for another pair of shoes since I'm on my feet all day at work. (Wanna know a secret? Chad is wayyy more into shoes than me. Haha!)

I've never cared much about them... until I discovered flip flops. I have somewhere between 10-15 pairs of those. For regular shoes, I have one pair of tennis shoes and a few pairs of brown ones that I never wear. Two of those never really did fit me, so I'm not sure why I bought them in the first place. I haven't gotten my bridal shoes yet... though I did get flip flops for the reception.

I hate shopping for shoes. Infact i hate shopping for clothes too. :bbeek:
The only time i ever enjoy wandering around for clothes and shoes is when My Step-Daughters are with Me. I get more of a kick out of watching them hunting for bargains. Plus i hate buying for Myself at the best of times. I prefer to treat them or get something for the house.
I own a pair of Trainers. (Sneakers)
A pair of Black Shoes for work.
A pair of Steel Toe Boots. Great for Gigs and Bike Rallies.
A pair of Hiking Boots which i wear most of the time.
A pair of nose bleed inducing High Heels in Black.
A dressy pair of Black High Heels.
Two Pairs of Black High Heel Boots.
A pair of White Doc Martens.
And the High Heels i wore to My Wedding.
DH has about Nine Pairs of Trainers.
Two pairs of Shoes for Hatch, Match and Dispatch.
Two pairs of Boots.
Plus about Five pairs of Work Boots.
Add them up and DH has more than Me. :bbeek:

I love shoes!!! I love that I dont have to worry about outgrowing them either lol! I'm not sure how many pairs I have, but an estimated breakdown would be...about 10 pairs of flip flops
about 8 pairs of Air Force 1s
couple New Balance for the gym
and a rainbow (literally) of pumps, as well as about 4 black, a white, and brown to cover the basics
and two pairs of dress boots, black and brown
..so I wear a lil bit of everything:)

OMG SHOES. I love shoes! I have extra-wide feet, though, so I don't have too many pairs. :sob: Someday, I'll get bunion surgery so I can have all of the cute shoes that I want!
DH loves shoes even more than I do, and since he has a fairly normal shoe size for a man, he owns a bagillion pairs of shoes... I 'm so jealous!
This is his theme, as far as I'm concerned (some swearing at the end, so not necessarily safe for work): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA
Ugh. I hate shoes because I can never find any cute BIG shoes. I have big feet and finding cute shoes is impossible. So, I have what I need, minus what I need LOL. I have 2 pr tennis shoes (one of which I need to throw out now that I got a new pair), 2 pairs of heels, tons of flip flops, outside work boots, inside work boots, 2 pair of flats for work, 1 pair of rain boots, and 2 pair of slippers. I need some comfy stylish work shoes. The flats don't cut it with most of my clothes. Heels are uncomfy - extremely uncomfy. Boots are too hot. Time to find something more universal.

I  shoes!!
In the winter though, I typically stick with my knee high black/brown boots. You never know when we'll get snow and cold, wet heels aren't fun. I do have a few pairs of black/brown heels/pumps.
Summer, now, I have sooo many different pairs. I love summer heels/sandals. I have flip flops in just about every color, although I seem to only stick with certain colors of heels, that I know I'm going to wear more than once. Like, black, white, brown, pink.
I don't really like athletic shoes too much. I much rather be in heels, honestly, although going for lengthy runs, heels don't do much for support!

So I discovered this consignment shop has shoes. Gorgeous shoes! All of them look never-worn, for $6-$10 a pair.
I bought a nice pair of black sandals and a nice pair of brown sandals. So, uh... up that list! ;)
I tried to tell FH that I have a thing for shoes, and he looked at me and goes, "No, you have a thing for money and shoes are usually expensive"

My view on shoes has changed a lot over the last few years. I used to buy lots and lots of cheap shoes. I was into quantity over quality so I never splurged on shoes.
Now I'm opposite, I like to buy good quality shoes and I'd rather have just a few pairs of those than a bunch of junk shoes. My coworkers recommended Danskos (http://www.dansko.com/) (we wait tables) and when I finally splurged on a pair I was hooked. Now I have three pairs and they are pretty much all I wear. They are super comfy and have awesome arch support which I need for my high arches. Now if I put on a pair of cheap shoes it's like torture. Sorry if I sound like a commercial, I just like to recomend them because they are amazing.
So I guess you could say when it comes to shoes I look for comfort more than fashion. I think that heels are the devil and I don't think I've put on a pair since my honeymoon. This coming from a girl who used to wear heels daily. I also am a firm believer in quality over quantity.
Just last week I went through all of my shoes and put many of them in a box for donation. It felt so good to get rid of all the shoes that I know I'll never wear again.

I picked "I have what I need," but I guess that's kind of a lie because I have a lot of shoes that I don't need or wear regularly. I am not a crazy shoe person or even a huge shopper in general- never have been.
However, I somehow have a decent number of really cute shoes. I honestly don't know where they all came from! I definitely don't wear my heels very regularly, though I have a TON of them for some reason!

I love shoes. But like some of the others they don't always love me back. I have wide feet so not all shoes are comfortable. :irked:
There really should be a wide foot shoe, lover support group. haha

I put other. I don't like shoes. At all. If I could get away with never wearing shoes, I would be one happy girl. But to oblige with the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" rule, you'll mostly find me in either a pair of flip-flops, chucks, or flats. The funny part is, I'll see cute high heels and be like "Oh, those are cute". But, I know I'll never want to own them. Weird, I know.
I have NO idea how many I have, but Kurt says way too many
um, at least 30 pairs of just flip flops:bbredface:

Sorry to sidetrack, but I have a story about Danskos..
A lot of hospital workers wear Danskos around here for the same reasons you stated - they are super comfortable and provide great support. FH and his brother both wear Danskos and liked them so much that they bought them for their parents a few years ago. I've never seen FFIL wear his, but FMIL wears hers around everywhere. I have not seen her wear anything else since she's gotten them. Nothing wrong with that- except, she thinks they're entirely appropriate to wear as dress shoes and is insisting on wearing them to the wedding! I had a fit and FH tried to tell me she must have been joking around, but really, I don't think she was.. FH promised to have a talk with her that as great as Danskos are, it's not quite wedding appropriate - especially for the mother of the groom.

I must have over 50 pairs of shoes ranging from flip flops to bowling shoes.
Most are strappy heels and sandals and I have every color. I have a lot of boots too and work heels. I probably have a different pair of shoes for every outfit I have.
I am not sure what is it really, I just like to match my shoes with my outfits. Not necessarily designer shoes either.

I looooooooooooooooooove shoes!
I currently have about 50 pairs of 'my' shoes- that's heels, boots, gym shoes, flip flops, etc.
But I work in fashion, and it is an actual condition of my employment that I have to keep up with the stock. So basically, if it comes in, I have to own it or else :snide:. I probably bring home around three or four pairs of shoes a week, and the shelf life of these shoes is minimal, because once we sell out of a certain style, I'm no longer allowed to wear them. At any given time, I probably have at least 30 or 40 pairs of 'work shoes'.
As much as I love shoes, even I recognise how wasteful this is, so I make a point of donating to goodwill once a month, to clear out space for the next round of new shoes. If I really like a certain shoe I'll hold onto it or give it to my mum, but on average I keep shoes for probably no more then three months.

I love shoes too! But, because we're in a small apartment and because I don't have lots of money to spend on them, I try to buy only what I need and know I'll where. I have a couple pairs of sneakers for working out, one for going outside in, some sandals, work shoes, and some heels for special occasions. FH thinks I have too many. :p

Actually, I can see the shoes when I pick out my outfit and find the right pair to wear. And I love collecting shoes. That kind of stuff is one of my favorite hobby. :D
