I rarely have the need to dress up. I'm a stay at home mom so no need to dress up for that! Our church is rather casual. Like nice jeans and a nice top. So it is very rare for me to dress up.
But when I do, I normally go for a knee length dress. And nothing overly fancy.

*hehe* I had multiple votes ;)
I really prefer not to have to dress up, at least not too much. I would normally just like to dress up some jeans.
I rarely have the need to dress up much more than a nice shirt with some jeans I am happy with that. The last couple of times I had to dress up I either borrowed something or bought something new.
I definitely prefer pants, even dressy ones; but if I have to wear a dress I prefer longer ones, at least "cocktail" length (past the knees) no one wants to see my big ol white legs ... unless they want to see my tattoos ;)
I do have a couple of casual dresses in my closet, but I have only worn them like once or twice.

I rarely have the need to dress up, but when I do, I usually wear some dark jeans and a cute top with high shoes. I have a few dresses in my closet for really special occasions, but that doesn't happen very often!
Hehe.. I have multiple votes as well. I love dressing up, and rarely have the need (cept for work, and that's not really 'dressing up' to me. I like long and short dresses - a lot depends on the style of the dress/skirt.

Another spin on this topic ... Do you have a "little black dress"?
I have a little black dress, but it is too little *hehe* I use to love the dress; it is a little asymmetrical cocktail length number with spaghetti straps. But it is probably too sizes too small these days  :p

I have like, 4 little black dresses LOL. Black is slimming, so I try to stick with it. I have a couple skirts and a few formals though too.

I bought a little black dress before my wedding (3 years ago) thinking I'd need it for different events in the future. I have yet to ever wear it. I dont' even know if it still fits!

I love dressing up!!!! I try to wear skirts all summer long at work, because I get sick of wearing dress slacks everyday. If I run out of skirts, I'll switch to dressy capri pants, I love shorter dresses, for a wedding, or sun dresses on a hot summer day, or even just cute skirts.
I recently bought a LBD, I'm excited to wear it again!

I rarely have the need to get dressed up, although I like to. But on the rare occasion that I do get out for a girls nite its usually just dark jeans, cute top, and matching pumps. I have a thing for shoes, I have nearly every color pumps lol.

If I am going to class, or the class that I TA, I dress up at least business casual. I try to match the faculty in attire, as they say you should dress for the job you want. I prefer skirts to pants - mostly because they travel better (if I'm biking) because they are less bulky in the backpack, they are more comfortable, and in the summer I love how the wind feels through them.
I have a little black dress, a little black skirt, and I went through a phase in life nearly everything I wore was dark colored. It still is, for the most part, but now I'm entering an orange/blue/green phase.

 I am totally jealous!!!!!!
Ooo this is a fun topic! I had many different answers as well because I dress for the occassion. I hoard clothes (and shoes... and accessories... and bags...), and I have a really bad habbit of not recyling outfits, so I buy a new outfit for any special occassion, and then rarely wear it again. (really bad habbit, I know..)
So, to answer the question of how do I dress up...
Going out to brunch or shopping - jeans & heels; formal events - long gowns; semi-formal weddings & dinners - shorter dresses; night out - whatever I happen to feel like at the time; church or other prof outings - slacks or skirts. Really, I wasn't kidding when I said I dress for the occassion.
I'm going through my closet tonight w/ my sister to sort everything out because I simply can't take all of my clothes and shoes when I officially move in with FH next month.

I hate dressing up. Really. I have one pair of high-top (well, ankle-top) black horseback riding sneakers (they look kind of like sneakers, but they're for horseback riding, if you don't want to wear those black boots or something, they've got a bit of a heel and extra support, etc) that I wear to EVERYTHING.
For the wedding I bought a mid-calf high pair of lace up boots in a reddish-brown color, with 2.5" heels, and a pair of cute 'girly' white slingback wedges (also with 2.5" heels) for the rehearsal dress that I bought.
Those are now my only pairs of shoes. Two pairs of boots and a pair of off white summer shoes. Oh, and a pair of sneakers that I wear when working out, but I don't wear them every day (they have never even touched pavement!) so I don't count them.
I also only own one dress -- the dress I bought for the rehearsal dinner, which I'm keeping secret until then, because I want to surprise everybody!
I have 4 skirts, two long, two short (one of which I can't wear anymore), and 4 jackets, one of which matches one of the skirts. The rest don't match at all.
If I have to dress up, I'll wear a pair of nice pants, a buttoned blouse, and a jacket.
Did I mention that I hate dressing up? I really do. There's very little that looks good on my particular body and dressing up, in my life, typically involves being forced to go somewhere and be polite to a bunch of strangers, which is never a good time.

I rarely dress up for going out. When DH and Myself do go out it's either to visit Friends who wouldn't know who i was wearing a Dress / Skirt. Or We go to see Live Bands.
Would look a bit stupid turning up at a Nickelback or AC/DC Gig in a Ball Gown. :bbeek:
The nearest i get to dressing up is taking off My Boots and putting on High Heels.
I'm normally in Jeans and Rock T-Shirts. In the House i wear Leggings and a Sweatshirt. I have a Wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear LOL. Infact DH has more clothes than i do.
And the only Dress i own is the one i got Married in.

I love dressing up in formal pants! They make my short-girl legs look longer than skirts do. DH complains that I look "stumpy" in skirts, and I think he has a point.
I have all kinds of cute suit pants to match every outfit!
The only dress I own is my wedding dress. For awhile, I toyed with the idea of wearing a white or cream-colored pantsuit as a bride... until my entire bridal party threatened to lynch me, that is. :lafhard:

I much prefer pants. While i don't mind dresses, I just feel like I'm more comfortable in pants. I currently own one dress, and it's too big... I bought it when the dressing rooms weren't open, found out it was too big at home, and never took it back. I am very excited to wear my wedding dress, though, of course. :)

I rarely dress up. I'm definitely a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. But, I did just buy my first non-formal dress last week. It's short and summer-y.

I rarely dress up. When I do I usually wear black dress pants and a nice top.
I have two little black dresses- one was bought for my rehearsal dinner and honeymoon and the other was bought for my Cruella Deville Halloween costume. I haven't worn them since.

I love shorter dresses and skirts. I am 5'5, and I've found that knee length or shorter looks best on me. Luckily, I have pretty nice legs! I thank genetics and 13 years of playing soccer. Unfortunately, said cute legs are super pasty right now! Boo!
I don't wear long dresses unless it's a very formal event. I have 3 gorgeous long dresses, but I don't wear them often.
I think dresses are far more comfortable than pants or skirts! No waistband! Haha! I have a lot of sun dresses, and I love them.
I enjoy dressing up most of the time; though I have little reason to dress up these days! I usually do shorter dresses. Longer dresses can look awkward on me since I'm rather short. I have maybe one or two longer dresses, but many shorter ones. I do like to dress up a pair of jeans too!

I love to dress up but I rarely do because I don't really have many occassions to do so. I'm always cold so when I do dress up, I usually wear nice pants and a sweater. If its super warm out then I like to wear sundresses. I do not have a little black dress as of yet. Most functions I attend are very casual.
