But when you count your ovulation cycle (like day 12, 14, etc)... when does that start? the first day of your period or after your period is done?

Total newbie here!

Day1 is the first day of your period.

Thanks for asking Haley... I was wondering the same thing!

So I might as well pick up from here... how long does ovulation last? I see you ladies talking about "dpo" (days past ovulation?)..... School me here :)

Ovulation itself only really lasts 24 hours. But Sperm can survive inside you for up to 5 days. So they say to babydance starting a few days before and a little after.
Everyone can ovulate a different time. The advergae cycle is abotu 28 days and most people will ovulate aroudn day 14. DPO (days past ovulation) is your 2 week wait. Again 2 weeks is just the adverage for most people.
Hope that helps a little bit!

Awesome! Thanks for the help!

Now, just one more series of embarrassing questions...

Is it bad to pee after baby dancing when you're TTC? What if the sperm comes right out afterwards?

I was told to try to avoid getting up to pee for at least 20 mninutes while you are trying. Lay down, some drs suggest with you butt proped up for a while, before getting up to pee.

Really? I'm not TTCing, but it was my understanding since the two, erm, orifices were different and external to each other that one didn't have anything to do with the other. Is it the position necessary for eliminating?

I think it's a matter of pushing, not necessarily 'washing' it out. Plus, being vertical can also work against ya :ooh:

Yeah I'm pretty sure its about how standing up makes gravity work against the little guys swimming there.

That makes sense. That gravity, always keeping us down ;)

I remain kind of shocked at how challenging getting pregnant can be! I've gone about it like if you were 1000% careful, you'd get pregnant, and TTCing involved not "being careful". It seems like the stars have to align if you want to be pregnant, and they are always aligned if you don't.

Good luck ladies :)

It's different for everyone. I am hoping I'm like my mother in the sense that it didn't take much... :winktongue:
