Well I think it's time to start a journal here. I'm not exactly TTC yet, but I went off the pill last month and I'm starting to prepare my body for TTC with prenatals. I'd like to get pregnant in September, but I'd be totally okay if I had a little miracle surprise before that.
This morning, I was in a rush for work and I didn't have time to eat breakfast. I popped my prenatal vitamin and hit the road for work. I felt fine the whole commute, but the moment I approached my office door, I thought I was going to vomit. I became so overwhelmed with this sensation, I started gagging and I had to run to the restroom. I held it back and didn't let myself upchuck, and once I finally got my stomach settled I came back to the office and made some oatmeal to get some food in my belly.
For about 2 seconds I thought that maybe it was morning sickness, but I know it's too soon for me to be pregnant. It also didn't last very long, and I didn't eat anything with my vitamin so I know it must be that. Still, I got my hopes up a little... for a fleeting moment! I never thought feeling nauseaus would make me so excited! Haha!
So far I have felt fine the rest of the day, although the dress I'm wearing has some serious static cling issues going on and it's driving me crazy! Anyone have static advice?!

I too started taking the pre-vitamins, I was really nervous about doing so as I heard they can make your nauseous. However, I take mine right before I go to bed and have not had any problems. :)
As for static, I heard of spraying hair spray or rubbing dryer sheets on clothes.

Sounds like we are on the same journey! Not TTC till fall, but not stopping anything either.
Prenatals can make you feel really nausous if you take them on an empty stomach. So wait until after you've eaten to pop one!

Thanks, ladies! I'm pretty sure it was the vitamins because I feel fine now!
I wish I had some hairspray with me for my dress! I'm just going to try to stay behind my desk all day!

yeah i can't take my regular vitamin w/o SOMETHING in my stomach... otherwise i get that same feeling
funny thing is the 1st time it happened to me i thought OH NO! is this morning sickness??? could i be preggos???? it didn't help that AF was a few days late at the point either... lol i was freaking out :P
My vitamins make my stomach churn - the bottle even says to take with food :) So I've learned if I don't eat - not to take them.
Congrats on the steps towards the beginning of a new era of life!

So it's only been about 13 days since I took my last BC pill, and my boobs have already shrunk! What a bust! Now my bras don't fit right! I've been on the pill for so long, I hadn't realized it affected me so much in the girls department! Also, they're feeling pretty sore most of the time! It's like permanent PMS!
On another note, my friend sent me a baby morphing website yesterday and I tried morphing my face with DH's and our baby came out so funny looking! The pic I used of DH was really bright, and when it was put in the software it made our baby's hair come out blonde! So funny!

BTW I think you baby looks cute :)

Well I'm not sure that I'm even ovulating yet since I'm right off the pill. Since we're not technically "trying" yet, I can't justify temping and charting yet. I have been paying attention to days though, and if I am ovulating, this would be the cusp of BDing time for me! I haven't noticed some tell-tale signs yet though so I'm mostly just trying to learn about my body right now and look for signs that my cycle is back to normal.
I'm sure it's from getting off the pill so recently, but I have been extra emotional lately. Yesterday, I was really tired from a long weekend and a stressful day at work. I came home and just wanted to sleep. I was lying in bed when DH came in to cheer me up with a game of Uno (that's his new thing). When I was moving over to let him on the bed, I pricked my finger on some sort of thorn. I don't know how it ended up in my bed, maybe my dog brought it in with him, but somehow my finger found the pointy end of it. I jumped out of bed and screamed because it startled me! DH was just laughing. Then, I picked up the TV remote and didn't get a good grip on it and it flew out of my hands and down the crack between the bed and the wall. For some reason, that was just too much for me and I started crying! What is wrong with me?! I may as well still be on the pill! DH just laughed because he knows my hormones are all out of whack right now. I just wanted to bury myself in the covers and never come back out.
On top of this, my boobs have been incredibly sore (which I read on here from another OWer that it could be too much caffeine intake). I've been tired, my lower back has been sore. If I hadn't just gotten off the pill, I'd think I was preggers! Haha. I'm sure it's the hormone changes from stopping BC and I'm ready for my body to get back to normal already!
On another note, my brother's gf was bleeding yesterday and went to the doctor. They had an ultrasound and finally heard the baby's heartbeat. It was complete relief, but the doctor still didn't have an explanation for the bleeding. He put her on bed rest for a week (is this common for someone only 10 weeks into a pregnancy?) and she is going back into the doctor this morning - in fact her appt is at 9 so she will meet with her doc any minute now. I can't wait to hear the news - I hope it's good!

Yea hormones can do some real wacky things to you. The worst that happened to me (actually still suffering from it) is insomnia. I hope you get back to your normal self soon. I will keep my fingers crossed for your brother's gf. I sure hope everything is okay with mom and baby!

I am having the same issues right now adusting to the hormonal changes since I got my IUD removed last week. Crying at a drop of a hat lately. It's completely normal.
And just wait, once you are pregnant you get to be all hormonal like that again!

Well I can tell the road to TTC will be a long haul...
My cycle is about as normal as it was when I went on the pill (the reason I went on the pill in the first place!) and my cycle was literally 21 days this month. Yesterday, I had a little bit of spotting, or so I thought, but today, good old AF came to visit in full force!
It's going to be really hard for me to get used to this again. I am already missing the regularity of the pill. I know in the end it will be worth it, but I have a feeling I'm going to be in the same boat as many of the women on here who are TTC and having to use clomid and provera etc... I will have to schedule an appointment with my doc soon to discuss all of this. I think I will wait a few months and just chart myself to see if I get any more regular on my own.
The good news is that I bought a basal thermometer yesterday and just in time! Now I can use it starting tomorrow morning to start tracking my temps.
Heywie
05-20-2009, 12:48 PM
My mom came to visit and she doesn't exactly know that I stopped taking the pill. I want her to be just as surprised as everyone when we finally get preggers. Well since she was at my house, it put me out of my normal routine. I hid my prenatal vitamins in my bedroom, which took them off the bathroom sink and I totally forgot to take it yesterday.
I also bought a thermometer to start tracking my temps, and I forgot to use it yesterday. I got up in the morning to pee and as soon as I broke the seal (sorry TMI), I cursed myself for forgetting to temp.
Well last night I wasn't going to make the same mistake. I woke up needing to pee and thought it must be at least 6:00AM. I grabbed my thermometer and tried to use it, but it was so dark in my room, I couldn't tell if it was on or off. I got up enough to turn on my light and start the stupid thing. Then I turned it off. After moments of waiting, it finally beeped that it was done. I couldn't see still, so I hit the button to stop the beeping and jumped up to go to the bathroom. When I got to the bathroom, the thermometer was off! I couldn't tell what my temp was! I turned it back on and it said 97.7, but I'm pretty sure it said that before I put the thing in my mouth to begin with!
So I did my business in the bathroom and came back to bed, only to find it was only 2:30AM!!! I had 4 more hours to sleep!
I went back to bed and when my dog woke me up at 6:30, I could actually see the thermometer this time. I decided it was a better time to take my temp, and when it was done, I actually saw the number before the thing turned off. I was 97.05. Is this a normal temp for being on CD3? I suppose I won't really know what's regular until I do this for a few months.
Now that I'm starting to temp, I will have to actually read up on what temps mean!
ikkin510
05-20-2009, 01:37 PM
That sounds like a normal temp for the begining of a cycle. I know when I was temping TTC with my son my preovulation temps were in the 97 range and post ovulation (TTW) was in the 98s.
There is a great site for charting your temps online and it even offers a free course online and tons of information for charting if your interested.
www.fertilityfriend.com (http://www.fertilityfriend.com)
I used it and know a lot of other ladies who do too. I should really break out my thermometer and start temping again too.

Thanks, Nikki! I'm actually on that site already, thanks to Danielle!
So far it hasn't helped much, but that's because my cycle was so short it threw the chart all out of whack. Maybe the temping will help a bit!

So I'm on CD 12 and I've been temping and paying attention to CM. It's been really interesting to me to follow my charts for the past month and a half because I never really even realized that CM types were related to ovulation. I guess I always just figured the consistency depended on my exercise and diet - or maybe I just never really even thought about it!
Well since I've been paying attention, I think yesterday may have been my O day! We'll see if my temps stay high the next 2 days and then I'll know if I'm reading my body correctly! I hope they do because then I'll have a better idea of whether or not my cycle is becoming more regular since going off the pill.
On a side note, my brother's gf made it through her first trimester! This is a major celebration for us because she has had miscarriages in the past. The odds of a healthy baby just got much higher! Yay!

Just when I thought I finally had a handle on things, my temp went down this morning. I was expecting it to stay high for 2 more days to show ovulation, but it dropped again. I wish I could just have a normal cycle!!!
Does anyone know much about anovultion? I've only heard this term before and don't really know what it means. I saw a chart in the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book that looked like mine and it said anovulation under it. I suppose a quick google would do me well!
SkippyNXC
05-30-2009, 09:46 PM
anovulation just going on the prefix would mean not ovulating basically... tho again its totally based on my knowledge of grammar which doesn't always equal medical terms...
Heywie
05-31-2009, 01:57 PM
Yes, like a dummy I just looked it up on google and I don't think anovulation is my problem at this point.
My chart is a roller coaster right now. This morning it went back up a few degrees. I guess it will just take a few more months of charting to really understand what is going on.
I'm planning to keep charting for the next couple of months and then take my charts to the doctor so she can see what is going on with my cycle. That way, by September maybe we'll have a good gameplan for TTC!
This roller coaster chart kind of freaks me out right now. I hope it doesn't affect my ability to detect ovulation.

Good luck Haley, I hope everything works out for the best for you, I hope you can get a hold on your ovulation schedule.

I had four roller-coaster charts and did all sorts of research on anovulation, which is what I think I had. My GYN didn't even look at the charts and just prescribed the Clomid. So I don't know if my diagnosis was accurate, but like I just wrote in Jenna's journal, the charts definitely looked like what they were supposed to after I was on the meds.
And I know what you mean about CM. I didn't realize it had anything to do with where I was in my cycle, either, until studying up on this TTC stuff!

Looks like I'm on track for another 20 day cycle! I have PMS symptoms galore right now (including nausea which is my new post-birth control pms symptom - yuck!) which means AF will probably come in a day or so. I read on here somewhere that B vitamins can increase your cycle... does anyone know more about that? I take a multivitamin already, and I just started taking Maca to balance my hormones and it seems to be working very well. I definitely don't feel as crazy during PMS now that I'm taking it.
I'm really not looking forward to another 20 day cycle. This just means I don't even have time to ovulate and AF comes twice a month sometimes! Eww. Double the period, no chance of TTC anytime soon. I hope it lengthens soon! I gotta get in to the doc.

Andrea (Barcelomayapalacebride) used B6. Just google Short Luteal Phase (or Luteal Phase defect) and B6 and you should find lots of information on it. I tried it for a month but it didn't work for me.

So DH and I decided we weren't going to tell anyone when we start TTC. I just got a text from a friend that said, "you're trying to have a baby??????"
I was stunned so I immediately texted DH and said, "did you tell Nicole we're TTC?"
He wrote back and said, "She guessed"
I said, "how'd that even come up?"
DH wrote back, "She said your boobs look radical."
Who says that?!!! Then she wrote me and said, "Your boobs look swollen. I told DH and he looked so surprised that I knew you were trying."
OMG! That is the weirdest thing ever! And my boobs do not look swollen!!!!

My cycle has been so crazy, I thought maybe I wasn't ovulating at all. I bought some OPKs just to track it to see if they proved me wrong, and sure enough, on CD15 they did!
I got the positive OPK on the 14th, and I've been charting on a website. This morning, when I inputed my morning temp, it pinpointed my ovulation day to CD15! This is great news for me because now I know when we start TTC, I'm on the right track! :)

So last night I had my first real pregnancy dream.
In my dream, I woke up and went to the restroom and decided to take an HPT in strip form. The lights were off and I looked down in the dark and saw a second line on the strip. I said something to DH, and then realized I was still sleeping. So then I woke up and took an HPT in the midstream form. I was sitting on the bed holding it and it got a positive read too! I was all happy and celebrating with DH.
Then I really woke up and realized I dreamt about dreaming of being pregnant. It was the weirdest thing!
I didn't follow suit and take an HPT when I woke up! haha I had enough testing in my sleep!
I have preggers dreams often. They're kinda annoying cuz they give me baby-itus that much more! LOL.

Oh my gosh I have been so busy lately, I haven't been able to get on here and I miss everyone!
I will have to go through everyone's journals and get updates on how everything is coming along!
I've been incredibly busy helping to plan my brother's wedding, which took place on Saturday. I'll post pics in a few minutes. The wedding turned out great and was just perfect for them.
The week before, we found out they are having a little girl! Cali Elizabeth is due in December, but she is already heavy for 21 weeks, so the doc thinks she's either further along than he thought, or she'll be a heavy baby! My bro's wife is hoping it's the first part because right now she's due December 13th and she's incredibly superstitious. She's also a tiny person and does not want to think her baby will be big! Haha.
Another thing that is keeping me incredibly busy is Kev and I are starting a business! We have been scouting places and dealing with permits and we finally signed our lease last week and our business license was approved yesterday! We are soooo excited! There is still so much to do, but we are on our way to being our own bosses and taking charge of our futures!
It's still really scary though.
On the baby front, we're still not not trying. I'm technically on 10DPO today and I had a little spotting yesterday. I also had a little spotting on my O day. I'm really not used to all this spotting stuff. I never had any while on the pill and it's getting really old and confusing fast!
Anyway, I can't wait to look through everyone's posts and see what's going on!
Congrats to your brother and his new bride for their wedding and their baby girl!!!
Congrats to you and your hubby for being business owners!!!!!
And welcome back! I can't wait to see the pics :)

Aw shucks..... I've heard of a lot of the ladies on here spotting after coming off the pill. I don't spot unless I'm on Depo.... and I haven't been on Depo in 6 years. So if I start spotting I'm going to know something's wrong.

I randomly started spotting a day or 2 before AF these past 2 months... I actually thought OH no! implantation bleeding???? haha too much time spent lurking in TTC...
i've been off the pill for awhile (september will mark 1 year) so idk if it's still that or something else... i did find thru some googling that low progesterone can cause spotting the day or two before AF... not sure whats causing my spotting or urs.... sometimes i really hate being a woman!:irked:

It was probably the low-progesterone for me. AF came right after and brought along with her all the fun symptoms!
I've been really bad about temping lately. The biggest problem is that my schedule is a mess. I have been working part time at my office and I wake up at 7 for that, but then the other days I work at home so I usually sleep a little later.
Now, we've been working around the clock on the new business and I've been getting little to no sleep. I know that will not be good for TTC, but I can't help it! When it's right for us to get pregnant, we will.
I was really hoping to get preggers in Sept though, mostly because I want the baby to be due in the summer. We'll see.
I must resign myself to be better about temping and taking my vitamins. Hopefully after this week, things will slow down at work and it will be much easier to get back on track.

Set yourself an alarm for the same time every day - like 6am before you wake up. Keep a pen and paper next to your bed with your thermometer. This is what I'm going to do unless I am recommended not to take my temp until I'm wide awake. That way you don't have to set it around your schedule. It only takes a couple of minutes.. even if DH has to hear your alarm he should be helping you stay on track anyway :D

I got a little bummed the other day. Kev and I were driving to our soon-to-be jiu-jitsu academy and we were both pretty stressed out because things keep popping up that require loads of money. I mentioned something about TTC, and he said, "Honestly, getting pregnant is totally off the radar for me now."
When he saw my face, he immediately realized what he had said, and responded with, "But that means you'll just have to be good about keeping track for us!"
I was so disappointed. We've been talking about trying in September for the last 5 months, but now we have the new business and all and it's just not the right timing. I was somewhat devastated, even though I know it's true. We have no business trying for a baby with all the stress we're dealing with. Not to mention, we've invested our life's savings into this business and that doesn't leave a lot of room for baby expenses.
I've decided to stop temping completely and just go with the flow. If it happens, great - if not, we'll try later when the timing is better. I'm pretty sure I'll be O-ing in the next couple days, but I'm not even going to take an OPK because I don't want to get my hopes up and keep this dream going longer than I should.
I'm still going to try to keep up with my TTC journal though because you never know when the timing will be right again. I'm feeling pretty bummed about the whole thing, but I have plenty of work to distract me.
I'll just have to live vicariously through all the OW TTCers.
Oh gosh Haley, I'm sorry. I can understand how him saying that would be hurtful. I'd be crushed as well. I hope that your business flourishes and you two can be successful in TTC, even if you're not temping.

I had another pregnancy dream last night and woke up feeling so disappointed because it felt so real.
For some reason, a lady was looking at me and said, "wait, let me see something?" She looked at me closer and said, "OMG you're pregnant!"
I was like, "No way! I better take a test!"
So I took an HPT and a pink line came up after a blue line and in my dream that meant I was pregnant. Kevin and I were so excited we were celebrating. We told my best friend and she was jumping up and down for us.
Then I was trying to hide my positive test from my mom because I didn't want to tell her yet! It was so weird!
But I was so ecstatic in my dream, I was incredibly bummed out when I woke up and realized it wasn't real. I wanted to fall back asleep and return to that dream, but of course I couldn't find it again. Instead, I woke up every hour and got horrible sleep!

Things are going pretty well... I've been so busy I haven't had time to even think about baby making. I'm pretty sure it's still lingering in my subconcious though - hence the pregnancy dream last night!

heehee the psychoanalyst in me would hypothesize that you subconsciously not only still want to be preggos but ur subconscious feels really guilty about it (hence not wanting to tell ur mom... aka the person who used to tell u what u were allowed/not allowed to do;))

So... I may have gotten my BFP!!!
I'm on CD 31 today and so I decided to take an HPT. The test line was just a tad lighter than the control line, but the instructions said ANY color on the test line meant you're "probably pregnant".
I called in to my doctor to get an order for a blood test, but of course I have to wait until Tuesday because the office is closed on Labor Day.
It's not for sure yet, but it's safe to say Kevin and I already got our hopes way high up!!!!

haha you guys are so funny!
Well I woke up really early and took 2 more HPTs (different brands). Both came back POSITIVE!!!!
I cannot believe it! I've already told my mom and brother and Kev called his mom and sister because we're just so excited.
My brother called to congratulate me and he seemed really excited. His wife is pregnant right now, so he was jokingly saying things like, "well, prepare to feel miserable!"
I haven't really had any real symptoms yet aside from tender boobs, but I'm expecting it's still just a tad early for the morning sickness and exhaustion to kick in. I hope they stay away!
I hope Kaiser calls first thing in the morning to tell me my blood test has been ordered. I have to work tomorrow and I'm not sure when I can even get in there to take it! I'll be anxious all day waiting!
On a side note, I felt like I was having PMS symptoms all week, so we went to Vegas last weekend and now I'm really wishing I had been more responsible. I guess I can't worry too much now... what's done is done! Careful eating/environment from here on out!

So, did you get in to confirm things with a blood test?
Heywie
09-10-2009, 12:05 PM
UGH, not exactly. I called and left a message for my doctor that I needed a pregnancy test.
The nurse from his office calls back and after a small game of phone tag, I finally spoke with her. She said, "Why do you think you need a pregnancy test?"
I said, "Um... because I think I'm pregnant?!"
And she said, "Well have you taken any tests at home?"
"3!"
"And they were positive?"
"yes."
She hung up to leave a message for my doctor. Then she called back and said that the doctor wants me to come in for a urine test first, and if that's positive, he'll order me a blood test.
I thought that was just ridiculous. And then I realized the lady on the appointment line had left a message for my general practicioner, not my OB/GYN! Of course they didn't know the right procedure here!
So then I left a message with my OB/GYN explaining the situation. I received a message back saying I have been scheduled for an appointment with a nurse on Sept 25th and to come early because there is a lot of paperwork. Then she also scheduled me for an appointment with my OB/GYN for Oct 1st.
Does anyone know what the first appointment is for? I'm assuming they'll do a medical history exam and all that in the 30 mins I'm arriving early for, but what do you think the nurse will do? Probably give me the blood test I'm still waiting for, but there must be something else!
If my calculations are correct, I'll be 7 weeks for the nurse appt and 8 weeks for the OB/GYN appt.

ikkin510
09-10-2009, 02:28 PM
The first appointment is usually family history, going over the dos and don'ts of pregnancy, lots of blood work (I swear they drawl blood to test for anything and everything) and if you need a pap or anything like that they will do that too. Normally they won't try to listen for a heartbeat that early since it's rare that they can hear it yet, but not impossible.
I'm glad you got an appointment set up! It stinks though that you have to wait so long to get the blood test though.

How are you feeling Haley? Any symptoms yet?
Nothing drastic to report...
I've been more tired than usual, and I have a little pressure in my lower abdomen most of the time. I've also been getting a little dizzy when I stand up too quickly and I've noticed more headaches than usual. I've also been a little nauseous in the evenings, but nothing too horrible. My boobs have definitely grown too! haha
Overall, I'm still not really feeling like I'm pregnant... I'm just waiting for more symptoms or some defining moment where it just kicks in and I'm like, "OMG I'm having a baby!"

I've been struggling to find pants that I can button in my closet! This is sooo frustrating! I'm only 5 weeks 2 days and I can't fit in my clothes. I jumped on the scale to see what the deal was, and I haven't gained any weight! I'm just so bloated and swollen I feel disgusting!
I come home everyday and throw on some sweat pants or comfy pants that have an elastic waistband. Eewww I'm in that gross phase where I don't look pregnant, just fat! Especially in my own clothes!

Congrats! I don't know how i missed this thread!
When I had my first appt., I had a pee test (and passed!) and then they gave me an approx. due date. The first appt (per my dr.'s office) is called "missed period" for insurance purposes then they scheduled my ultra sound, pelvic and a follow-up. At my follow-up it was just going over my ultra sound and the blood work that I had done. My next one is Oct. 1 and I will get to hear the heart beat again.

Well I had my first real bout of morning sickness yesterday. I had been feeling a little queasy here and there, but yesterday took the cake. I felt sick a little bit in the morning, but it passed once I ate something. By 12 o'clock, it started coming back. I was going to drop off Kev and our dog at home and go on to Ikea to pick up some furniture for our new business, but once we got home, I knew I just needed to ly down. 3 hours later, I was still in bed, curled up in the fetal position, not wanting to move! YUCK.
I'm really hoping today is better. I started the day with a good breakfast and I've been drinking lots of fluids. I've already been feeling better today than yesterday from the start, so I'm really hoping it stays away. I'm going to a hockey game tonight and I really don't want my nausea to get in the way!

Try to snack often throughout the day hon. Even if it is just a few crackers. As long as you make sure you are putting something in your stomach, that helps a lot of people not feel as bad.

I agree with Nikki....never, ever let your stomach get empty. trust me, you will regret it! I told Keely, also try waking up at 4 or so and put somethin in your stomach, and go back to bed, so when you wake up at your normal hour it wont be so bad! It helped for me, because if I have nothing in my stomach when I first wake up, I'll throw up.

I woke up this morning feeling worse than usual. I immediately ate some food, took a shower, then drank a glass of water. Nothing helped and I ended up getting sick for the first time. I was hoping it would make me feel better, but about 5 mins later, I was nauseous again.
Last night I bought some Preggie Pop Drops... they're supposed to ease nausea. For the most part they have been working, but I've already gotten sick again since I've been at work and all I taste now are those Preggie Pop Drops! They're pretty acidic and I think I'm having some acid reflux from them! Not fun!

The nausea hasn't been so bad today. I've been eating pretty much every 2 hours to keep it away! That seems to be working. I still feel nauseous, but I haven't gotten to that point where I KNOW I need to run to the restroom.
On a different note, I feel like I'm already showing, and I'm only at 6 weeks 4 days. This is extremely early! I haven't been able to fit into a lot of my clothes for at least a week now, and I'm pretty sure it's due to being all bloated from the progesterone, but I'm honestly having a hard time sucking in now! I went to Target on Sunday and bought a flowy dress that is really comfy, and I'm wearing it at work right now. My friend whispered to me this morning, "Why do you already look pregnant?!" I told her it was just the dress... I didn't have the guts to say, actually, it's because my belly is totally popping out under here! hehe
I have an appt on Friday with a nurse and I'm hoping she can answer a lot of my questions then.

LOL you girls are too funny!
I am feeling much better the past few days. I haven't been nearly as sick and it's been wonderful!!!
I had my first doc visit on Friday morning. It was really just an info session with a nurse. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork about my medical history and Kev's, and then she gave me a bunch of information about what to expect and do's and don'ts. We asked her a lot of questions, and then she sent me to the lab to have 6 VIALS of blood drawn! 6!!! On the fifth one, my arm decided it was done and she had to poke and prod to get more out! Ouch!
I already got my lab results back, and everything looks normal. I may need to get a little more iron because my value was on the low end of normal, but I'll wait to see what the doc says.
The funny thing is, they never tested for pregnancy! Or at least, they never sent me the results to it! I had all sorts of results about my blood counts and rubella, etc, but nothing about being preggo!
I have an appt with my OB/GYN on Thursday, and the nurse said they will do an ultrasound and physical then. I'm really excited!!!

I have an appt with my OB/GYN on Thursday, and the nurse said they will do an ultrasound and physical then. I'm really excited!!!
Cool..you will get to hear the heart beat Thursday! (And take a photo home!..mine is on our fridge.)
6 vials of blood...WOW...that is alot! Ouch..did you bruise bad?
Ultrasound on thursday? YAYYY!!!!!!!
6 vials of blood - losing that much would definitely make me light headed - I got dizzy at them taking 3 in December!
Funny that they didn't test for pregnancy LOL! Typical, right?

I actually didn't bruise as badly as I thought I would. Usually when I donate blood, my arm is black and blue for a few days! This time, it was just a little sore all weekend. Still is a little to the touch.
And yes, Justina! I was super light headed and dizzy after. I was exhausted. I went home and ate and then fell asleep! That's pretty typical for me these days though!
On a side note, we had a grand opening party for our new business and the turnout was great! It was an all day affair, though, and I was absolutely exhausted when I got home. I fell asleep at 8 o'clock and I was out!
Congrats on the grand opening!!! I'm glad you got rested up after both the opening and the blood drawing! :)

I went to the doctor today! Here's my little nugget:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/moonme/1001091021.jpg
The doctor said everything looked great. The baby measured at 8weeks 1day, it's heart rate was 164bpm, and everything seemed to be in the right place!
It was really an amazing experience. Kev and I sat there together and the doc would point out all the body parts and he would be like, "WOW!!!" When the doctor put the sensor over the heart, I started getting all teary-eyed. Now I really know what all you girls meant when you said the heartrate made it feel so real!
Oh yay!!!!!! How exciting! I can't see the pic but I will when I get home :) Congrats on being able to hear the heartbeat! 8 weeks and 1 day, so that bumped back your due date!!!

Actually, the doc mentioned that! She said that this early on, unless it's a major difference, they don't move your due date. Later on, when the baby is more developed, if it is off by at least 2 weeks, then they change your due date. Otherwise, she said a day or two here and there really doesn't make a big difference.

I haven't been on OW all weekend because I've been SICK. Ugh.
On Saturday, I went to Universal Studios because my work set up VIP tours for me and some of my colleagues. It was fun, but it was a really long day. I couldn't go on any of the rides because they are all way to jerky for expecting mothers. I watched Shrek 4D, but I sat in a stationary seat, and it's a good thing because the seats in front of me were whipping around like crazy!
Then, after the park, we got a VIP studio tour. This was pretty cool, although I've been to Universal before and have seen a lot of the things they showed us. It was cool though because the tour guide set it up for a van to pick me up and sit with me anytime the studio tour would be jerky or bumpy (there's an earthquake tunnel and a bridge that collapses). The first time the trolley stopped for me, all these men on the tour with us were so worried about me! It was so cute. My friends assured them it was just for my own safety. Still, I was impressed with Universal for being so prepared.
It was a really long day though and I was exhausted when I got home. I woke up in the middle of the night and had a terrible sore throat and my sinuses were dripping a lot. I figured it was just from the Santa Ana winds which always give me horrible allergies. Well I was wrong. I woke up for good the next morning and I felt absolutely miserable. I slept most of the day because I couldn't even lift my head by myself without extreme pain and pressure. Why do I always get sick on my 1 day off?!
I got a flu shot on Thursday, and part of me is wondering if maybe that's why I got sick... You never know! This is usually why I don't get flu shots. DH assured me that if you get sick from your shot, it's a milder version of the real flu and that I shouldn't worry too much.
I'm feeling a little better today, enough to get out of bed and come sit at the front desk of our academy. I still have to carry a box of kleenex with me, but it could be worse!
No real news on the baby front. My next appt isn't for almost another month so for now, no news is good news!

It sounds like you had a great day at Universal! How fun!
On a side note about the flu this is something that I put up at work last week that I want to share with you "Probably the most common and dangerous myth about the flu is that you can get it from the flu shot. In fact, the vaccine cannot give you a case of the flu, because it is made with inactivated organisms. If you are sick it is probably a cold with flu like symtoms, a different strain of flu, or you were infected before you had the shot."
Hope you feel better!:yesnod:

Stock up on pantyliners, that's my advice. I just started doing the kegel exercises because I was so sick of peeing whenever I coughed or sneezed! That's helped a little bit. But I've also been extremely mucous-y down there with this pregnancy, too. So the pantyliners cover me for both problems!

I have had some pee leakage while puking already. Definitely stock up on the pantyliners. Between the leakage and the mucus, you'll need them.
Wait till the end when you also have your breasts leaking...nothing like feeling like it's coming out all over!
Aw shucks Haley! Sorry to hear about your little...er...mishap... I have a new book called "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicki Iovine. I haven't started reading it but I skimmed a few chapters - it's supposed to be similar to Belly Laughs - informative about what the doctors don't tell ya.

My mom had a heart attack. She's okay, but geez it's so hard to try not to freak out right now. It was a little one and it didn't show up on her EKG. They did a stress test today and found that she had one within the last day or so. I've been trying all day not to let myself freak out about this.
My mom is young and healthy. I just wasn't expecting this in a million years. She's in the hospital for the rest of the weekend and they're going to do an angiogram on Monday to see if there is any blockage they need to clear. I'm finally back from San Diego, but with good news!
I spent all day Sunday and Monday at the hospital with my mom. Yesterday, I had to get to the hospital around 5:30AM to be there for the procedure. She was a little nervous, but mostly calm, which helped all of us to be calm for her. Inside, I was freaking out though. I was so nervous it would be something horrible and we'd have to deal with open heart surgery or something.
All the nurses were amazed she had suffered from a heart attack at her age. They kept asking if she had a family history of young heart problems. Turns out, my mom takes the cake in her family! Anyway, on to the angiogram.
They got inside and found a major artery was completely blocked. They put in a stint and unclogged it. They took before and after pictures and it is amazing she was functioning at all. There was hardly any blood going to her heart in the first picture, especially compared to the after picture.
I think she will feel 100 times better now that her heart will be fully functional. She should get to go home today as long as everything looks good. Woohoo!
I was absolutely exhausted yesterday from the early rising and the stress of not knowing what the angiogram would come back with. I got home late last night (after almost pulling over to nap a few times on the way home) and just crashed in my bed. I feel a little better today, but last night I was so nauseous, probably from lack of sleep.
Now my stress level has gone down enormously and I don't have to be so careful about calming myself for the baby!

That sucks you barfed at work. That would be horrible. Anytime I'm feeling bad, I just want to be at home. My bathroom at work is like right off the front office here at work and I NEVER use it because the walls are thin and its like in the middle of the room. Everyone can hear what is going on in there, so if I have to puke in there I'll be so embarrassed!!! There is a bathroom in the back of the shop but that's the boys bathroom and the thought of using that toilet makes me want to barf. Eww.
Hopefully the MS will subside soon & you can start experiencing the more enjoyable aspects of pregnancy!

Heywie
10-14-2009, 01:33 PM
LOL Skippy! Fortunately, no. It's just morning sickness! I can't imagine how hard it would be to be pregnant with multiple sclerosis!
Yesterday never really got better for me. I got sick 4 more times with some dry heaving in between and was worried I might be getting dehydrated because I couldn't even keep water down. I went to urgent care last night and they gave me some tablets that ease the nausea and vomiting. They also checked me for dehydration and said the tablets should help me get more fluid down. They said either my morning sickness became extreme or I have the stomach flu. I'm hoping for the latter because I can't imagine feeling like that for the next few weeks. It was absolutely terrible.
I didn't sleep great last night because I kept waking up to a stomachache. I think my stomach was just really sore from all the heaving. It's still upset right now, but the meds they gave me are helping a little bit. I was able to keep down 2 saltine crackers for breakfast and a cup of water. I'm scared to eat anything because it feels like my stomach is still so upset it won't tolerate much right now.

Well my day of feeling better didn't last long! I woke up at 2 this morning and had to run to the restroom again to vomit. I get this horrible sharp pain in my stomach and then I have to book it to the bathroom. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well and wasn't really up for getting up at 6 to go to work. After debating it and calling an advice nurse, I decided to stay home and right after Kev left, I had to run to the bathroom again so it's a good thing I didn't go.
I felt a little better initially, and tried to sleep it off a bit. I woke up around 9 with the bad stomach pain again and it pretty much lasted the rest of the day. I called my OB around noon just to see what they thought I should do and from all my symptoms, they told me I most likely have the stomach flu. Since I spent the weekend in the hospital with my mom and she actually had similar symptoms last week, it really does make sense. I just want it to be over with!!!
On a side note, Kevin bought me a little pregnancy journal and he is so cute about wanting me to write in it every day. I had to come online and look at my old posts to update the past 2 months, but it's coming along.
I don't know how much I'll be able to jump on this weekend, so if I'm not here, have a good weekend everyone!

Today makes Week 11!
Every week I feel a little more relieved. I haven't been having MS too bad lately so I think it may finally be calming down a little bit. I officially need to buy some new bras too! Oh man, these things are out of control!
My next appointment isn't until next Friday and I'm not sure what they'll even do. I know I'm not getting an ultrasound, but they'll probably just check my vitals and make sure everything appears to be on track.
I found out my cousin that is due around the same time as me is having a boy! She's 39 so they did an amnio and found out the sex already! I think it's great because they already have a little girl so now they'll have one of each. She's due about 2 weeks before me so we'll be majorly preggo together!
On the work front, I have been incredibly busy and it's not going to calm down anytime soon. Our anniversary is on Sunday and I'm hoping we'll be able to break away from work a little bit to celebrate. I got us matinee tickets to RENT so we'll at least take a few hours out of our day to go there! I'm excited because it has Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp in it!
Tomorrow, I have to go to a friend's bday party and she asked me to make some food for it. I'm really hoping I'll have time to do something fun! It's a Halloween theme so I'm planning on making little weenie mummies, deviled eggs that look like eyes, and a pumpkin cake. We'll see how much of that I actually get done though!
I'm glad you're starting to feel better!!! You're going to share some pics of those goodies you're going to make right? :)

Unfortunately, selfish me was avoiding anything chocolate. I'm trying not to eat it right now.
Instead, I made deviled egg eyes (which I think people got creeped out because they only ate half of em!) and little mini pumpkin pie pockets.
Hardly anyone at the party ate a thing. There was tons of food left over and I was thinking to myself, why did I just put all this effort into cooking when no one even ate?!
Oh well. At least the bday girl was happy!
Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary! We saw RENT and it was amazing! Then we went home and relaxed a little before going to our favorite restaurant for dinner - Fogo de Chao. If you haven't been to a Brazilian Churascarria, you have to go! It was delish, and my cousin was working so he gave us a great discount! It was a nice surprise at the end of our meal!
Afterward, we came home and watched 2 episodes of Heroes that we needed to catch up on. It was a really nice day. We didn't work at all and that was a great feeling. Too bad we have to make up for it today!
I'm glad your anniversary went well! And that's awesome you got a discount too - a sweet surprise!
Deviled egg eyes... you're so going to have to show us those!

Things have been just crazy the past week. I haven't hardly had time to check my email, let alone OW!
On Friday, I had a doctor's appt to check on the baby. It took way longer than expected becauset he office was jam packed. The nurse asked me if I wanted an H1N1 shot, and I hesitated and said I'd think about it. By the time I got into an exam room and told her I would do it, she said the hospital had already run out. Oh well. That was my sign it wasn't for me that day!
Everything looked good on the baby front though. My urine test was fine and the doc just listened to the heartbeat. I got a little freaked out at first because she couldn't find it. I hadn't been having any real preggo symptoms lately so I got concerned when she was just searching around and around for it. She remained very calm, of course, and finally found it. She said it would be easier to find as the baby grew and my belly expanded, but it definitely freaked me out a little! Then I had to get some blood drawn for screening tests and the guy killed my arm! I was a little dehydrated because I had just woken up and hadn't had time to drink a whole lot before I got there. He had to wiggle the needle around until he found the vein. Fun!
After the appointment, Kev and I had lunch, and then I drove down to my parents house and celebrated my bday with my family. We just had dinner and did cake and presents. It was nice, but pretty uneventful.
The next day, Halloween, we had my SIL's baby shower. Everyone had to dress like a famous mother. I didn't have a very good costume because I just haven't really had time to put anything together, but I went as Michelle Duggar. I carried a family photo around with me and showed off all 18 kids to my new friends. Most everyone dressed up. My mom's costume took the cake though! She went as Peg Bundy and her outfit was perfect! We also had about 4 Mother Earth/Natures and a few other cute ideas. Overall, her shower went very well and she got some very nice things. Then, after cleaning up a little, I headed back up home. I got back around 7:30PM, and walked into DH beginning to carve our pumpkins. So I dropped everything and started carving! I'm a sucker for carving pumpkins. I love to do it. I actually went out and bought pumpkins because of the OW thread about pumpkin carving. It got me in the mood, even though I knew I didn't have time to carve them!
We got the pumpkins finished around 8:30 (well, mine took longer than DH's. He just made a silly face and I had to be all perfectionist about mine!) Then we watched a little TV while DH worked.
Sunday, we had to shoot a DVD at our school so we were busy with that all day. I also brought the computer and worked on the book while they were shooting. Then, we had dinner with some friends and they came over to watch Labyrinth. I had never seen it! I don't know how I missed it over all these years, but it was awesome. LOL. Awesome in a very kitchy kind of way. We were exhausted and DH actually fell asleep in the middle of it! haha Great host!
Then Monday, we continued to work on the book, and we had to be at the academy all day because DH had to teach. Our instructor was out of town for a wedding so we had to cover all the classes. We were supposed to pick him up from the airport Monday night, but he missed his flight so we had one more night to ourselves at home! The bad news was that my bday was on Tues and we had to figure out how we were going to schedule a trip to the airport into our already busy itinerary!
Luckily, a friend offered to go to the airport in our place and we were able to celebrate my bday all day long! We started with breakfast, then I got my H1N1 shot (yuck!), and then we headed to Disneyland. We have annual passes, so for the bday promotion, I got a $72 gift card in place of admission! Kevin had only spent $55 from his bday gift card, so he pooled his with mine and bought me a Harveys seat belt purse that is a collector's edition with Mickey comics all over it. I never would have bought it for myself so it was a perfect gift!
Then, we went home and rested a little. I was exhausted! I toasted some pumpkin seeds and laid around a little bit, then we went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory.
We ended the night with a warm cherry pie ala mode and watched a movie. It was a great end to my bday!!!
So, now that you've read my novel, hopefully things have calmed down a little around here and I can catch up on OW!!!
Sounds like you have been busy!!! Sounds like Disneyland was fun! How far are you from Disneyland anyway?
Happy *late* birthday :)

Thanks everyone!
This morning I'm telling my coworkers that I'm :preggo:!
I already told my boss last week and got an amazing reception. I'm starting to show now so it's getting harder to hide it!
I borrowed Breckan's idea and brought in a little treat and sent out an office-wide email. It read:
"There was a storksighted by the coffee pot and he left treats for me to share with you!
He told me he would be back around May 14th with his final delivery. Just like the many programs we sell here, the product he is delivering takes some time to develop so he’ll need some time to iron out the kinks before the big reveal!
Enjoy!"
(Thanks, Breckan! I liked your idea so much, I sort of used it almost exactly!)
I brought in a dozen donuts and made little signs and mounted them on coffee stirrers and stuck em in the donuts. Together, they read, "May 14th Will Bring a Wonderful Thing!" and surrounded it with little baby symbols like a pacifier, bottle, and stork carrying a baby.
Not everyone has arrived yet, but I'm sure they'll see it soon. We have a team meeting in about 40 minutes so I expect it to be an emotional one!
Oh Haley that's AWESOME!!!!! It's great that you work in a place where you can pull something like that off :)

It went over very well! Of course, everyone appreciated the donuts, and they thought the note and signs were cute too!
Plus, they surprised me at our meeting with a dessert and bday card! So it's been a celebration around here all day!

Happy second trimester to me! Happy second trimester to me....
hehe
Sorry, I'm just a little bit excited. When I first got pregnant, it felt like this day was so far away. Now here I am, and every week that has passed has done so quickly! I can't believe I'm already a third of the way through my pregnancy. Everyone keeps telling me to just enjoy this time, but it's so hard when I have something so amazing to look forward to!
My next appointment is the day before Thanksgiving, but I'm pretty sure it will just be a quick one again. The big appointment won't be until December 30th when we have another u/s and find out if the baby is healthy and if it is developing right. Oh- and of course, if it cooperates, we'll find out the sex!!! Who am I kidding? I have a great feeling that the baby is extremely healthy and developing well, so I'm really looking forward to the sex part!!! It feels so far away right now, but this second trimester has snuck up on me so chances are Dec 30th will too. And hey, I guess it will be a happy new year gift!
This week, I actually went out and bought some maternity clothes. I don't know why I waited so long - these pants are so comfortable and I don't have to wear sweats/cotton pants everywhere I go now! I actually got some cute clothes that fit so I feel so much better going outside. I started showing a little teensy bit, and at night it seems like it grows a little. Must be my full belly! I need to get my camera fixed. I meant to take pictures at every week, but that just has not happened :( .
