I was thinking of getting this really beautiful dress replicated for my wedding because the original is just too expensive. I came across this www . chicgown . com has anyone got a dress made from here before?

I have never heard of this place, but it is a Chinese shop; I have heard some good and some not so good things about these places in general. I don't think I'd go that route.
I would check online for reviews of that site and try to find others that have used them (like you are doing here ;)) and maybe check the BBB too.
You might check with a local seemstress/dress maker too.
:goodluck:

I didn't use them, but I had my dress custom made from a different Chinese seller on ebay. The store was called April Bridal on ebay and the seller was awesome. He didn't have my dress listed so I sent him a photo and he said he'd make it for me. Throughout the process, he was always in contact and let me know when the dress was beginning production and when it was complete. He also shipped out some extra lace for me to add more detailing to the top (I requested this after the fact) and it only cost $30 including shipping. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone, but just know that any dress you get from a seller like this will not have the same quality as a real designer dress here. For me, it worked out perfectly and I just LOVED my dress.

Thanks for the input girls! yes, I have been searching around for reviews and I found a couple good reviews about this company. Also, after hearing some of the experiences that Heywie and Hemelody has had, im definetly considering getting my dress made chicgown. Thanks again :o

I also ordered mine from a chinese shop off ebay. I feel in love with my dress when it came in! I only spent $200 on my dress and its a regular $3000. I was so impressed with the detailing and everything about the dress!! I would def. recommend this to anyone. Not all shops are bad!

Custom is definitely the way to go i think.
I ordered a couple of dresses from a few online stores to see how the results were (wont mention names), when i finally received them my gosh were horrible. luckily i was able to return them, so the customer service for them wasn't bad. The color and the fabric was way off, i tell you.
By no means do i have a huge budget. But for the $80-200 that i paid, i definitely got what i paid for.
For myself, i'd rather spend a little more money and get something that i'll love wearing and that i can remember forever. I'd really love to keep and cherish the dress forever, however my sisters saying that i'll probably end up re-selling the dress. Either way, i think custom is the way to go. How often will i see another occasion to custom make something for myself.
