We had friends over last night and the kids were up late watching TV in our bed room. They came down for a drink and my 4 yr old son ( will be 5 in a couple of weeks ) was sitting on my lap playing with me. I was asking him questions to see if he would answer them right. Questions like what is your name ( he goes my his middle name ) and what is your first name and your birth date and things like this. I asked him his moms name and then asked him his daddys name. My next question was going to be what is your step-dads name as we have talked about this before the wedding and I knew he knew the answer. Well we never got to that question. and the reason is when I asked him what is your daddys name he said Nicholas. Nicholas is my husbands name. His dads name is Jason. Just as he said that I could not stop laughing, Nicholas was floored and had to leave the room and my friends jaw dropped. Her husband didnt hear what my son had said so she was talking to him. After I calmed down she asked if he would normally say Jason to that question. I said yes and told her what my next question was going to be. She said well it is understandable, he sees him alot mroe then he sees his dad. I went to check on Nicholas and he was in shock. He knows these kids love him to death. My daughter doesnt call him dad but refers to him as dad on occasion. She knows who her dad is. She is a daddy's girl to both of them. But my son has never refered to my husband as dad. We have left it as is. The kids see their dad pretty often. And they know Nicholas loves them and is there for them and is an acting part in their lives and that he will be there for them no matter what. He IS the one raising them and teaching them. So I guess it is only normal that my son who has been with Nicholas for the past year and a half to refer to him as dad.
