I am starting to think, or wonder if I have vertigo or something.

I get periodic dizzy spells/lightheaded which often lead to headaches; I have been to the Dr about this and have been told it is likely migraines. This is usually brought on by stress and I usually is not a problem unless I am stressed about something.

More recently I have had bad dizzy spells where I feel like the room is spinning and/or like I am going to fall down. This can happen when I am laying down on the bed/on the floor playing with the dogs or something and then I look up and then bam!

Of course it is far worse when I try to work out; like today I rode the bike thing for about 15 mins then went to the floor to do some crunches and got it really bad. I laid there for a minute then sat up for a few minutes. I thought I was over it until I got up then got the room spinning feeling and felt almost like I was being pulled to the floor; so I laid back down for a bit and feel ok now. I do have a slight headache now though.

This happened a few weeks ago too, which was the last time I really worked out. It was so bad that I literally crawled to the other room to lay down on the couch.

This doesn't happen often, but it is starting to make me wonder if something is wrong with me.

I do get motion sick; lightheaded/dizzy/nauseous feeling sometimes, this has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I wonder if this is related.

I am sort of worried about going to the Dr about this; I worry it will be nothing and they will think I am crazy or they will want to do a lot of tests and find out it is something really bad :fear:

Of course I have looked up stuff about my symptoms online and it could be any number of things from something minor to something really serious. I don't want to freak myself out and assume I have something when I don't and I don't want to go to the Dr if it is really not worth it.

This has happened to me, where I would be sitting and the room would start spinning, and I would be super dizzy and lightheaded.
I was told it was due to allergies :snide:
Im not sure though.

Allergies could have something to do with it ... or maybe this is a side affect of the Singulair I recently started taking ... hmmmm

I can so help here....as far as vetigo goes if your having sinus issues, usually runny or stopped up nose and sinus pressure along with stress can trigger Vertigo. I suffer from it and it is not fun. I have actually gone completely blind for several seconds because of it. From the sound of things first thing I would try is to increase your iron. Lack of iron will cause the same symptoms and if you have stress on top of that it makes it worse. If it doesn't help let me know. I work in a pharmacy and might be able to find something out. Hope you feel better!

I had a bad case of vertigo last August and it lasted until November

I woke up one day, and fell over, everything leaned to the left

it was horrible, the doc gave me some meds.......I couldn't look up, or quickly to either side
laying down was even worse

I have it too. I've always attributed it to sinus/allergy problems. Most of the time it is if I stand up with my head down, as soon as I put it up I get dizzy. A couple of nights ago, my bed was spinning! It reminded me of being 16 and drinking a fifth of Tequila by myself. Not a memory I particularly care for!

If you are really concerned, I would definitely go to the Doc. Otherwise, keep a mental note of when it happens to you. Bad allergies that day, exercising, stress, trouble breathing...

Also, I know I get it really bad when my nasal passages are really dry and my ear aches. I don't get an earache that lasts longer than a few seconds, but I can feel it a little bit.

I may try to chart my symptoms better and see if I can come up with some common factors; it does seem to happen more when I exercise. I am not sure if I am getting enough iron (how do you know ... how would you get more if you needed/wanted ... can you get too much?); but I do have a problem forgetting to take my vitamins and didn't take one today.

My allergies seem better since I have been on Singulair, but still not 100%, so all that could have something to do with it too.

Thanks for your input guys :)

Here is an article on iron: http://www.vitaguide.org/iron.html

You can take it as a vitamin, but I know that you have to be careful on how much you take.

I just looked it up and some of the side effects of Singulair are headaches, dizziness/lightheadedness and stomach upset ... I have had all these lately; I wonder if some of this could be the drug side effects too.

I had the same thing and I had a 4cm brain tumor. Had paralyzing vertigo where I could hardly function, throwing up every morning, the room would spin so bad I felt like I was ALWAYS hung over. Even now, after 2 surgeries, I feel what it sounds like you're experiencing. Go to the Dr. Even if it is "nothing" like allergies, don't risk it. I waited months before going to the Dr. (DH made me.) Neurosurgeon said if they didn't catch it when they did, it would have ruptured, or grown into a place where they couldn't operate and it would have strangled the brain stem. Go to the Dr.

Well I woke up this morning feeling really bad; I made DH go get me some stuff for nausea and went back to bed for a couple of hours then got up and took more. I feel better now, but still not 100% right. I am gonna stop taking Singulair for a few days and see if the symptoms go away.

I figure even if I went to the Dr they would try to eliminate the side effect thing. So if I still have the same symptoms after being off the Singulair for a bit then I will go to the Dr. I just hope it doesn't bring back the bad allergy symptoms.

I am pretty sure it was the Singulair making me feel nauseous and dizzy ... it has been a couple of days off the Singulair now; I don't feel sick/dizzy anymore, but the allergy symptoms are back in full force.
