Ok, I know this is sooo stupid, but I haven't been so annoyed with a commercial since that one with the girl - I think it was for Secret maybe? - and she's walking around showing all the ways she can lift her arms and she smelled her armpit, and hailed a cab and said "No thanks, I'd rather walk" and stopped in front of a cop car and said something like "I'm innocent!" - blech - drove me nuts.

I typically don't let commercials get to me, like that one did at least, but there's this one for Burger King that is about a kids meal that has sponge bob square pants toys included and they use the tune of Baby Got Back but it's "I like square butts and I cannot lie..."

But anyway, for some reason, I just don't want my hypothetical kid walking around singing this. I don't know why, but it just seems really inappropriate, and I'm typically not somebody who's prudish about stuff.

Are there any commercials that just make you dizzy with madness?

When I first saw the commercial I felt the same way, it really does not seem appropriate for kids. The original song is not the most family friendly. I was thinking more about little kids doing that dance than singing the song.

I hate Sponge Bob, but thought the commercial was funny ... then again I don't have kids so that thought never crossed my mind ... though I suppose there are far worse things a kid could be exposed to ;)

^Agreed.

But I, too, felt it was pretty inappropriate. I wouldn't want my sister (who's five) singing that and if I had kids, I wouldn't want them singing that. The fact that they had models, with short shorts, dancing with their butts facing the camera was a little disturbing. More so, because it was aimed towards children. I, especially, would not want my little sister dancing that way. It was a bit uncalled for.

Uck. What were the creators thinking?

I just think the commerical is really annoying and stupid. And the burger king guy is scary as hell.

But, hey, i still love Spongebob.

I know! You know, when I was a kid I was scared to death by Ronald McDonald. They had a "Ronald" in there one time - I think it was somebody's birthday party or something - I was super young. And I SCREAMED bloody murder and didn't want to go to McD's again for like a year!

Dude, i LOVE the king. XD There was a guy dressed up at the last anime con i went to as the king.. I was sad because he wouldn't reverse pick pocket me when i asked him to. :(

I don't like Spongebob either, and I wouldn't want my kid watching that. I LOVE Burger King's food, but not crazy bout that commercial (which I've never seen on TV).

However: as far as commercials go that drives me nuts?

There is one in particular that stands out to me, I see it as sexist and rediculous and it angers me (although hey! it's just a stinkin commercial!)

I don't like commercials in general... I think they're stupid most of the time. I usually put them on Mute when they come on, but I caught this BK one the other day. Yeah... It's one to put on the ALWAYS MUTE OR ELSE!!! list.

And yes, the King is freaking scary. He's on the MUST TURN OFF TV!!! list.

I just saw another Burger King one that isn't cool. They're selling Star Wars themed glasses now, and there's a couple enjoying their Burger King with their glasses, when the king shows up. The king zaps the dog and then the glasses, and the guy starts freaking out and says "Why don't you just take my girlfriend, too?" So the king leaves with the glasses and the girlfriend.

I think this is a new one. Very dumb.

Ok, The King is totally creepy. What is it with food chains having creepy "mascots". Like, Jack in the Box as somebody said and McDonalds. Ronald McDonald scares me. In fact, I was in line once at our local McD's, and he was making a guest appearance. As he made his way down the line of people waiting to order, I kept getting more nervous until I finally couldn't take the pressure of him possibily greeting me and bolted.

Anyways, I love BK, but the commercial is annoying, I agree, its probably not the most appropriate for kids! Also, I never understood Spongebob either, never a big fan!

To me, it doesn't matter if it's aimed at my grandfather. It is aired during the days and early evenings when kids do watch t.v. We were talking about it last night, and my 8 year old nephew pipes in with his opinion, which is that he thinks it's hilarious. I just think there's enough raunchy things out there that kids don't need anymore. Even in kids movies now they use body functions as jokes.
