Hello everyone!!
I got engaged last November (and pregnant in December - oh my!) and we are starting to lay down plans for a spring 2010 wedding. We'll be having a pretty frugal wedding on a $5000 budget with a guest list of 150, so I'm going to have to be a bit creative. I'm looking forward to squeezing all the inspiration I can from this board!

Welcome to Onewed!
LOL, you're just like us -- except for the whole pregnant thing -- we've wound up with approximately 150 people and on a $5000 budget. It can be done!!! We're having a ceremony outside in a formal garden and a casual, potluck picnic reception later on in the day.
To save money, we're doing all of the set-up and tear down ourselves, and we aren't hiring a DJ, and we did our invitations ourselves too (which came out really nice, if I do say so myself). We kept things simple and figured out what our priorities were, so far as spending money (cake, FH wanted a nice dress for me, and we both wanted a really good photographer), and skimped where we could.
It still amazes me that a simple, outdoor wedding with a casual potluck picnic reception STILL clocks in at $5000!!!! Weddings are SO expensive!!!
I know you'll find great inspiration and creative ideas here to make your days special :)

Thanks whitewater! We are having to slate most of our budget to food, but the photography is what is really important to me. So I'm hoping we don't have to cut back too much there.
Thankfully we have lots of friends who are willing to let us take advantage of their talents, but I don't know any professional photographers - booo. I should expand my circle of friends lol.

Hello and welcome! I think $5000 is about average for us here, and I've seen some gorgeous weddings put on for that much! I recommend checking out the Budget Brides and the DIY forums... they're very helpful for saving money!
Congratulations on your impending motherhood and marriage! :)

Congratulations! $5000 may be a tight budget. As long as you guys have smiles on your face... nobody will know the difference!
Best of luck.
