so davids does clean/press for fre...and although i like my store, that is the ONLY dress in my area, even remotely close to my size!
sooooo, i'm bringing it home, and having it cleaned where a friend took hers, and she had it back in 3 days(DB takes 3 weeks, in the least)
i just have heard so many horror stories about DB losing gowns, etc...if i had a dress that was re-orderable, i really wouldn't care....but it's NOT.....and i'm not taking any chances....there's one spot in it, under the left arm at the top near the under arm, that has make-up foundation on it....it really isn't that big a deal, and i'd rather take it somewhere someone i actually KNOW can swear by....my neighbor has been using the same place for 10 years, and said their sign says $50 for dress clean/press, and 5 day turn around....i'd already alloted for 350 anyways, so even an extra $100, is still less than i was going to pay for just a dress...i'd alloted about 500 for dress, shoes, slip(if needed) alterations, bra, gloves & veil.....
so i'm actually saving
dress-165.00
shoes-50
veil-75
cleaning-75
bra-40
gloves-25
slip-not needed, dont want it, don't need it with my dress
alterations-FREE! my grandmothers best friend owns a shop, and doesn't do brides, so she doesnt have much work in spring, but she offered to do mine for free, since she's already doing to BM dresses for $50 each, at 3 dresses.....plus, she taking my FG's dresses, and making them shorter to create halters rather than spagetti straps(for $15 each)
i didnt include stockings b/c they're part of my lingerie and my something blue, along with my shoes ;) 4" heels that are royal blue with anchors on them(had to throw us navy in SOMEWHERE heehee)
