I've gone in twice this week to tan, and plan on going again today and tomorrow so I'm nicely tanned for my bachelorette party this weekend. I swear, I'm unusually bloated. My arms and legs look like complete MUSH! I'm not a frequent tanner, so I'm wondering, is this normal? Does tanning lead to more water retention? (I feel like I've read that in a bridal mag somewhere... or did I just make that up in my head to justify the mush factor of my appendages?)

PS. I'm not burnt or anything.. just unusually mushy in the arms and legs. :purplex:

I have never heard this. I have never had a problem like this though.

Hmm I'm not a frequent tanner myself so I'm not really sure.

I did google it and saw that you actually lose water weight (temporarily) while tanning....so maybe you are retaining and then going to lose it?

I have never heard of such a thing :bbconfused:

I have heard of people sort of swelling up after a sunburn though.

Edit: Your period, sodas and salt can make you retain water.

hmm i never retained water while tanning either... granted i'm not a frequent tanner... more of an occasion tanner (i.e. when going on vacation or something)

could it just be comin up on that time of the month n ur retaining more than usual? or are you eating a lot of salty foods/drinking a lot of cafinated beverages? all that will make u retain too... or does caffiene dehydrate you? i always get that one mixed up....

Nope, don't think that's possible. Haha. I'm on the pill and my period is like clockwork - every 4th Wednesday morning, which actually is next week, so maybe Skippy is on to something...
