Jeanne and I were discussing yard ideas, and I figured I'd see how everyone else felt about their yards.

Do you prefer to work outside or inside?

I like to work outside on a nice (decent) day. I love to garden and work in the yard. Now that I have a house of my own, I can't wait to get out there and clean up the yard!

If it's Sunny i work outside. Couldn't wait for three dry days in a row to get the grass mowed for the first time this year. It's very boggy in places and three days is enough to dry it out. I don't have many Plants, Flowers or Shrubs to worry about. But the Lawn can take an hour to mow. This year i plan on extending the lean-to on the back of the House. And renewing the entire roof. Wind whipped at it and smashed it to bits.

If it's raining i potter about inside. I'm constantly doing something since leaving work. Loads of projects have been completed or are lined up. For example the Modern Style Dolls House that stood there screaming for attention is now complete. Now i need to get My head around a Dolls House Shop i bought on eBay. It's massive, half built by the original owner and very grubby. Will rebuild it, do it up and enjoy every minute of the transformation.

I am not a big fan of yard "work" but I do like puttering in the garden until the weeds get too much and then it becomes a chore.

I am looking forward to setting up a table outside so that I can paint orders (<<<that's work right?) when the temps are nicer. I am hoping that the buggies won't be too bothersome. :)

Now sitting here with visions of many Bugs flying around in various bright colours.

I'm more of an indoor person when it comes to projects and such. But then I've never really lived someplace with a large yard to work in. I think if I lived on a quiet street with a nice large yard I'd spend lots of time planting flower and having a garden.

I love working outside! I hate typical indoor house chores with a purple passion. You know, like dishes or mopping the floor or cleaning the bathroom, and some things just don't get done as often as perhaps they should, 'cause I hate doing them!

But I will happily spend hours in the garden digging, mulching, watering, mowing, whatever. I love planting and weeding and so on. I think I might even love laying sod, when we do it next spring! The dogs ruined our lawn, you see, (they did so easily because the yard was just left to itself . . . after a few years of neglect with nobody in the house, any lawn will suffer), so we have to basically start over again.

I also don't mind painting or raking leaves or anything like that. Or putting up holiday decorations. We have some Halloween-themed staked decor that I put out in the front yard :) And more to buy and add this year!

The difference, to me, is pretty clear. I hate indoor housework because things always get dirty again. You're never done, and you never get anything from it. It's just one endless cycle. But with outdoor work, like with a garden, there's an actual goal and you get to benefit from the products of your labor, whether that be with pretty flowers or with vegetables, fruit and herbs that you can use later on.

I'm kind of miffed right now that my eye won't let me get out and do all the digging and planting that I need to do! There's so much that has to happen this year!

I will gladly spend hours outside working on the yard during the winter months, but once it is over 100, I stay inside at all possible times. (I hate summer in AZ)

I like outdoor work.. But it doesn't like me. :D So if we eventually get a house and stuff.. Steve will have to mow the lawn. I'll end up a sneezing mess. haha

I'm not a big fan of working no matter where it is. LOL

When it's nice out, I love to be outdoors but I'd rather be chilling rather than working. I don't have any where to garden and the only outside chore I have to do is clean up dog poop and that sucks!

As for working indoors, I do that more often because there's a lot more to do inside. But its definitely not by choice. hehe

Well, after doing some yard work tonight, I hate yard work! Although, it wasn't the fun stuff, it was digging old bushes up. Plus, we aren't 100% sure on where the lot lines are, so I don't want to dig up things that aren't ours (it would be a bad way to meet your neighbors for the first time!!)

That being said, I voted "it depends". I like planting flowers and being outside, and planning where we want to plant stuff, especially since we only have about 3-4 good warm months.

I like indoor work too because I love having a clean house and everything in its spot.

I guess it really depends on the weather and my mood and want I want to get accomplished that day!

Hehe... I can imagine the stress of pulling out bushes that you're not sure are yours or not!!! Good luck with that :)
