View Full Version : Doctor today - possible endometriosis

So I have an appointment this morning with my family doctor. I’ve been having symptoms for a few years now, and my sister has pointed out to me that it could be endometriosis. I’ve researched it, and I have most of the symptoms. :( So I made an appointment to get the testing started. If that is what I have (and I personally am about 85% sure of it) I want to get the ball rolling on treatments and TTC (we’re currently not “trying” but we’re not preventing either) so that our window doesn’t close too soon. The longer you live with endo, the harder it is to get, and stay, pregnant.

I’m not sure what I’m hoping for – to be right, and have endo, and then there’s an answer to all of my pain, or to be wrong, and still not know what’s wrong, and then find out it’s something worse. I don’t know. I’ll take it one step at a time.

Wish me luck today ladies!

From my understanding they cannot see endro on an ultra sound, they would have to do a DNC on you. (But I am no doctor)

I have endro and with all the pain and bloatness I though I was filled with tissue on my ovaries. They have 3 catergories on it, 3 being the worst. But I was always in pain and discomfort, mine was only at a 1. Pain thresholds differ person to person.

I had my DNC and everything done about 5 years ago, unfortunately, I think it has come back as my ovaries are always tender. I dread getting it done again (not that it was bad, just soreness for a couple of weeks).

I wish you luck!

Well, they can see endo on an ultrasound, IF it’s horrible and widespread. But the only definitive way to diagnose it is through a laparoscopy. I’m sorry that you have it, and that it’s back. :(

The doctor appointment went well. We have a plan of action, and that’s what I was hoping for. The doctor sent me for some blood tests to rule out anything else that it could be before we do the laparoscopy. If everything comes back clear, she’s going to give me some progesterone to bring on my period (haven’t had one in years) and refer me to a gyno, who can then do some more tests, before scheduling me for a lap.

Thanks for all the well wishes, ladies!

Oh nooo...

I have Endo too! It was diagnosed in 2003 via laparoscopy and that's pretty much the only way the doctor would diagnose me with it. She cleaned it up by laser and I've been "okay" for now...It's not fun at all...

Good Luck!
