I had my first appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinologist yesterday morning. I really didn't know what to expect, since I've been so frustrated with my lack of pregnancy and my stupid OB/GYN who I never spoke to (always went through her nurse).

The doctor was sooooo nice and helpful (which I knew he would be, anything would be better than my OB/GYN) and looked at all my information. He couldn't see any reason why I wasn't getting PG, and then looked at DH's sperm analysis. When he had it back in December, the doctor's office said it was normal. The RE looked and said he has clumpy sperm! That could be a reason why we're not getting preggers, because the sperm are in a clump of "mass and fluid" and can't freely swim. WTH?!? That would've been nice to know in December!!!

So anyways, I have to go in on Day 3 and get my FSH levels tested, along with other tests. They're going to do an ultrasound on my ovaries, too. Once they get the test results, we can determine a plan of action. The RE thinks we'll be good candidates for IUI since they clean/wash DH's sperm and then insert it via catheter and that'll take care of the clumping issue. I should mention that the word "clump" is my new favorite word! :)

And my insurance covers the IUI with NO LIMITS! I can have the procedure done as many times as I want/need. I only have to pay a $45 copay each time I go in! The insurance lady went over my benefits and was really surprised at what is covered! She said some ladies come in with nothing covered and it's just devastating. I'm covered on everything with just my co-pay each time I go in! And I'm eligible for three IVF's if it comes down to that, but the RE said that was probably too aggressive of a treatment for our issue.

So now I'm waiting for AF to come so I can schedule my appointment. Yay!

I go after work today to have my ovaries checked via ultrasound and do some bloodwork. I'm just excited that everything is FINALLY happening!:)

Clumpy sperm?! LOL you gave me something to smile about in what's turning out to be a dreary day. I have this mental image of sperm falling over each other in an effort to get to the uterus, and then getting stuck together, thank you! :lafhard:

But yay for what is sounding like a likely future pregnancy in the near future :)

Yeah, that's what I picture when I think about it, too! And it makes me laugh!
