Ok, so, about a year ago at this time some of you may remember that I found a lovely chiffon-esque patterned paisley dress that's tea length and is mostly black and bone white but has this kind of cool band of teal paisley thingies between the knees and the waist of the dress . . . it's a lovely nice semi-formal summer dress and I got it for a *steal* at Lane Bryant ($14.50, when it was originally $90!!). It has wide straps, so it's not strapless, but they don't extend down the arm, so it will show almost all of my tattoos (both arms, and the ankle, the only one that will be hidden is the one in the small of my back), and I know my folks will hate that, but it's my rehearsal dinner and Fiance and I are paying for it, so my parents can just close their eyes, or something. Between the overall style and the tattoos, though, I really needed to find a pair of shoes that were stylish, sexy, and summertime-type shoes. Fun shoes. Modern shoes. Light, happy shoes!

You may also remember that because the base color of this dress wasbone white and black that I was having a devil of a time finding shoes that didn't clash. Do you know how hard it is to find shoes that match a bone white dress???? Regular white shoes totally clash with bone white. Off white clashes with bone white. Even *grey* clashes with bone white.

I have been searching for the right pair of shoes for a year. The search got complicated by the fact that I have hard to fit feet. It was really kind of irritating.

But I finally found a pair today! At Payless Shoes, of all places. And they are on sale, too. They are a lot cuter in person than the website makes them look. As for comfort, they'll probably break in just fine, but I suspect that I'll have to use moleskin here and there for some extra padding.

Here they are:

(sorry, wow, that's a long URL!)

I normally really don't wear these kind of shoes on a regular basis. In fact, these are the ONLY pair of shoes I have like this in my entire wardrobe. I haven't had shoes like this since highschool. My HS was private and had a dress code, and one of the rules was that girls could only wear nice shoes, no sneakers, basically flats and pumps (no open toes, no open heels, no heels over 3", no sandals). It was torture. The day I graduated, I swore to myself that I would never wear pumps on a regular basis again -- and for over 15 years, I've kept that vow!

Naturally, it took a life changing event like getting married to make me wear shoes like that again. :)

But they look nice on my feet and make my legs look nice and heck, I won't have to wear them for very long.

Just thought I'd share. The Year Of Searching For Shoes is OVER. I found my wedding day boots and my rehearsal day shoes, and I am good to go.

Haha, I totally feel you on the school uniform issue- to this day, I swear I'm allergic to loafers and anything khaki.

The shoes are super cute and look very comfortable. :)

BTW, I had yet to consider my rehearsal outfit and now I'm starting to panic a bit. I should go figure that out.
