So, I was trying to do some wedding research. I did a google search for Gainesville Weddings and one of the results that came up (don't remember if it was a main one or one of those ads on the side) was this:

http://www.ashleymadison.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_term=Gainesville%20married&utm_content=search&utm_campaign=paidsearch&gclid=CISA2eLT5pkCFdlM5QodBSUDRg&ef_id=1641:3:s_1b57c3d7364198df00bdbd0009f1ca37_14 51917894:PFioqUo-JyoAAHs-CsUAAAAT:20090410154410

I have a hard time believe things like this exist, but I guess they do. Ugh.

hmmm ... yeah certainly not something I agree with for sure!

But sadly I am sure there is a "market" for it ... sites like this or not, people will still cheat.

That is ridiculous. Very sleazy.

There's a commercial on tv here that is for bootycall.com

The commercial shows a guy trying to give a girl flowers, and she basically ditches him for a guy who would never possibly think of giving her something like flowers (maybe an std?)

This world is sad sometimes. Just what the next generation needs to see, huh?

I have seen that commercial too "Did you know the that marriage is the leading cause of divorce *wink*"

There is nothing wrong with just dating if you are not ready for marriage or whatever, but you shouldn't put down people who want a real, meaningful and lasting relationship :p

Stuff like that makes me not want my kids to be watching TV. We limit what they're allowed to watch as it is. And I'm not generally in favor of too much censorship. But some of this stuff has gotten ridiculous.

Censorship is a whole other issue all together ;) These ads are usually on later at night and/or on stations not normally known for "family" programming anyway.

I agree Brandi. If people want to play the field, that's their business. I just don't like the tackiness of those commercials.

Yeah; there are plenty of more main stream commercials that have inuendo and make jokes about sterotypes of marriage too ... like that "I love you, this time I mean it" one; that sort of thing bigs me too :p

... WHAT?

Is that like, having an affair for people too lazy to find their own mistresses/suitors?

I mean, I think infidelity is 100% wrong to begin with, but I really can't even respect someone who goes about their affair that way, I'm sorry...

I think it is all about a bootycall. The commercial is very much about the casualness of uhmmm? DATING.

Are yall just as guilty? I mean you don't want to be put down for wanting a meaningful relationship but you're putting down other people on the other side of the spectrum.

I'm a live and let live kind of person. As long as MY husband isn't using it I don't really care.

The premise of the website is for those who are already in relationships looking outside of them. It emphasizes the secrecy of the transaction, and that it would be easy to conceal. You only do stuff like that AND HIDE IT if you have something to hide, or consequences, like a partner who would not approve.

I'm all for live and let live too, but casualness isn't the name of the site, it's promoting extra-marital affairs. If one's partner approved, all of the discrete payment options would not be necessary.

And again I say as long as my husband isn't doing it I'm not going to waste time being disgusted. If someone really wants to cheat they're going to do it regardless of any available websites or anything else.

Agree or don't, but lets not make this a debate now ;)

It wasn't clear from your initial post that you were not being disgusted, rather it seemed that you were condemning us for being upity about valuing meaningful relationships, when I was arguing that it was irrelevant because the site was explicitly attempting to undo them. I think we're debating two different things.

Ooh sign me up. Kidding.

Um, I guess some people are going to do that sort of thing. Not me and not DH - so, for that, I'll just be grateful and turn a blind eye.

Couldn't have stand it better myself.

Life's too short to run around condemning other people for something that really doesn't run my day.

I understand and respect where you are coming from, I guess for me it just doesn't take much energy to say, "making a living from other people's dishonesty is wrong" and note that it exists.

I study people, and one of my research areas is the Internet, so for me, I can't really turn a blind eye to the stuff I find on it, hah.

Eww. Whoever started that site (not to mention the people that go to it) should be so ashamed of themselves. Disgusting...

Makes sense to me. :) For the record, I'm not sure my post reflected my feeling on it - but, yes, it's definitely wrong...:)

So what are the chances that one cheating spouse goes on this site, and hooks up with their cheating spouse?
