Look what I set up today; a 10 x 10' screened gazebo and I did it all by my little lonesome! :)

Apparently, it's also the reason why it started snowing in April. Sorry; it's all my fault

Earlier today, we were talking about the gazebo and I told DH that it looked "wedding-ish". He agreed.

I said - Aw hunny, why didn't we wait to get married in our own back yard?
He said - Because you wouldn't have let me delay it
I said - that was the wrong answer
He said (without a second of hesitation) - because I couldn't wait to marry the love of my life & hunny bunny! One millisecond would have been far far far too long

I really like that! Makes me wish we had a big porch and backyard...:(

Hahaha. At least he corrected himself! When I tell DH "wrong answer", he'll just look at me with a big cheesy grin and say "Oh well".

I'm glad You mentioned that was Snow in the photo. Either that or Your Garden is Haunted. :bbeek:

Those Gazebos are not easy to do solo. Hats off to You there Elizabeth.

We had Two up for Our Wedding Reception and they were a nightmare. We put them up on the Thursday before hand. But had to drop the legs halfway so they weren't seen over the fence. Living on the end by a main walkway is not ideal sometimes. We didn't want to advertise the fact there was a party coming up.

Everytime i looked outside it looked like We had a group of Midgets due any moment.

LOL I was waiting for the neighbours to come out and tell me and ask me why I was doing such a thing on my own. Apparently, they have never met anyone in my family :)

(I was absolutely determined to get it up before DH came home for lunch)

The legs don't go down on this one. I had to dig out a ladder. Oh did I mention that I did it in the rain too? (so stubborn)

Yeah but if I take it down can you guarantee me that it will be in the 80's tomorrow? LOL

It looks weddish and thats great!

A friend suggested that we rent out the back yard for weddings LOL We have included the following in the rental package (so far) -

Location rental
Ceremony with the woods as a backdrop
A personalized signature platter (of course)
Pool party reception
Cute Basset Hound ring bearer
Choir of birdies

Am I missing anything?

Wow! I'm impressed Elizabeth. We have this wonderful Gazebo in 2 huge boxes in our garage. It has been there for over a year now because DH had to have it when he saw it at Sam's Club and even though the Gazebo was to be our 3rd project after the RV Cover/Storage Unit and the Music Studio, it was too good a deal to pass up. :o There is no way I would be mechanically inclined enough to ever put it up myself. I can do alot of things, but hand me power tools and I become scary!

I love your wedding package idea! I do think you forgot a few things though. Where are the persistant squirrels and the raccoons?

My brother has a big party every October, Pig Roast, Brunswick Stew, Roasted Corn. The secret ingredient in the stew Squirrel.

Way to handle tools, Elizabeth. RC asked me why I wasn't putting something like that in the back yard. I told him you buy it I'll put it up.

How about Possum stew instead?

Putting that stuff together solo BITES. My hat's off to you, and I can say that because it was 30 degrees today and I was, in fact, wearing a hat :irked:

It's still snowing on and off here ..... I guess I really messed up didn't I?

Hmmmm we don't have a possum problem (no possums here at all actually) but I wonder if I can substitute racoon? :)

What? I can't just skewer and barbeque them? :P

Psssssst don't tell RC but the only tools I needed were a screw driver and some vice grips :)

I bought it because of the screened sides. From what I hear, the mosquitos here are like 747s and I am determined to be able to sit out this summer.

heh. I'm the same way!
I dismantled/demolished a free standing closet thing in our basement, then put up shelving all in one day.

PS: It looks awesome!

Okay okay. How about using them as centerpieces? This one would be lovely for a "fall" wedding.

 Should we leave them alive? Might be rather amusing to have interactive centerpieces *can't stop giggling at the thought* *love silly threads!!!!*

LOL BTW - check this out - it's exactly as it happens in our back yard! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A2moFdM1Yo

Way to go girl! *virtual high five*

My xSIL & I used to play a game to see who could top who in the *guy thing* department.

She would phone me and say "I am woman, hear me roar!"
"What did you do now Cor?"

One day, she really blew me away when she told me that she had hung a ceiling fan (with a light). I had previously tackled PVC plumbing but I have never messed with electricity :)

The only trouble with inviting Squirrels is they do like a drink and fall out of trees.

I love it! Can can you color the tulle looking stuff so it's not white? I think that's the problem, not the whole thing. If it was a light gray or tan it would be nice :)

Hmmm that's a good idea. I wonder if a dye would "take".

I was thinking of hanging some privacy panels on the left, to block out the sun if necessary. All I need is some time + material + some grommets & I can hang them with the screen.
