My husband and I want to buy a home this year, but after talking to a few brokers, unfortunately it might be a bit difficult because my husband has no credit. It's not that he has bad credit, just no credit. And with the lenders being so strict, I need to find ways to help him build his credit while he's deployed. I have a really good credit score, but if we buy a house it will be based on his income, so he's the one who needs to have good credit.
Aside from applying for a credit card in his name, which we are doing, can you guys think of anything else we can do? The only thing he's ever made monthly payments on is a cell phone, so he's literally starting from scratch.
Also, I was wondering if anyone else here is thinking of taking advantage of the ultra low prices in AZ? Once my hubby gets out of the military we have no problem with moving and trying out somewhere new. If we can buy a house for that cheap (we will probably have enough saved to make it more like a car payment rather than a house payment), then we're willing to go for it. I think it'll eventually turn out to be a good investment.
