Ok, I suppose it's finally time for me to start journal, as I am officially HOOKED on OW! (Today I was talking to my dentist and refered to Jamie as FH!) So here I go!

How We Met
I'll copy and paste on of my earlier posts about how Jamie and I met...

I honestly think meeting Jamie was fate. My cousin got married last summer in the middle of the day and they had a party later that night at their friends' house. I went to the wedding with my family, but I wasn't sure about the party...mainly because I had just broken up with my boyfriend (it was a VERY controlling relationship with zero trust from his side) and I just didn't feel up to it. My sister was in town (she lives 8 hours away) and she begged me to go. My cousin finally called me and convinced me to come. So my sis and I loaded up in my Mustang and headed out to the middle of nowhere. From the second I got there, my cousin and sister were trying to hook me up with a guy. I talked to a few guys, but nothing more than small talk. Most of them were my cousin's husband's mud bog buddies. I had a great time and after 3 hours, I tried to convince my now-drunk sister to come home. She wanted to stay just a little longer, so I got in my car and backed it down to the area where the party was. I waited a few minutes and this guy I had talked to came up to my window and told me he liked my car. I thought he was SO CUTE and I ended up talking to him for an hour. My sister finally got in my car and I told the guy that I hadn't gotten his name...he told me it was Jamie. I guess neither of us had the courage to exchange phone numbers, and I left. I asked my sister about him and she had gone to school with him. I tried to find a way to contact him the next day with no luck. I was kicking myself for not getting his number. The next day (Monday) he called me and asked me out on a date that evening. From that day on, I knew he was the one. I have practically been with him every single day since then, and moved in with him a month later! Turns out, his story was exactly like mine. He didn't want to go to the party but his brother who was in from work (he's in the Air Force) and some of his friends wanted to go, and they finally convinced him to come. He told me that he would have never had the courage to come talk to me if he hadn't had a few beers...ha! I'm so glad everything worked out the way it did! Hooray for persuasivness! I can't imagine my life without him! We honestly complete each other. He's the love of my life.

The Proposal
It wasn't a fairy-tale proposal, but I couldn't have made it any better! It was Christmas Day, and we were just getting home from running around like fools, visiting our families. We had already opened our presents and all I wanted to do was veg out on the couch! Jamie kept telling me he had one more present for me...and, of course, I bugged the **** out of him! We were pulling into the driveway, and he finally handed me a bag. In it was a wrapped box, in that was a white box, and in THAT was a jewelry box. I knew it was the pearl earings I wanted so badly that matched my family heirloom pearl necklace. I got so excited and I opened it...my jaw absolutely dropped. Jamie was in the jewelry store a few weeks earlier getting my pearl necklace restrung and trying to find my earings. I was looking at the diamond rings (I'm a girl, right???) and of course, one of the salesmen asked me if I wanted to try one on. I fell in love with this 1 carat center stone diamond ring with 1/2 carat side stones. It was princess-cut and set in platinum...my dream ring! I reluctantly handed it back to the salesman and we thanked them, and left. Low and behold, I was holding the EXACT SAME RING! It had a temporary sizer on it, since he didn't have enough time to resize it. He apparently took the ring that I have that fits on that finger only and had my ring sized according to it. I was absolutely speechless. He asked me if I'd make him the luckiest man in the world, and I think I shreeked so loud he temporarily lost hearing in his right ear!

And here's a picture of my gorgeous ring!

Our Background
Jamie and I live together in a house he built with his step-brother, Wes (who is a pain in my tooshie!) Oh yea, he lives here too. FH is a lineman for the power company. He always says he couldn't ask for a better job...and I worry about him everyday. I work for an airline company here in our little town and love it...and FH tells me he worries about me out there with the planes all day, so I guess we're even!

He's more reserved, I'm more boisterous. He's friends with everyone, and it takes me while to warm up to people. He's sweet, and I'm sarcastic. He has made me a better person. He has taught me so many things. We perfectly compliment each other. We've already been through a lot, and honestly, I don't think I could have made it through some things without him...but it only makes us stronger people.

Alright, enough background...

Here are my wedding decisions so far:
Colors: Aqua/pool with red, black, & silver.
Guest List: Over 250...
Ceremony: In either the church I grew up in, or a gorgeous one downtown.
Reception: Buffet style food catered by my sister's friend & his chef buddies.
My Attire: Lace Drop Waist Gown...very "Vintage Glamour." With a birdcage veil.
Theme: I don't really have one...but I'm going for a modern/classic look with some Vintage Glam thrown in....strange, I know!
Invitations: DIYing them...all 250 of them!
Budget: As cheap as we can make it! I am very good at that, though...I was raised in thrift stores and Gabe's!

I'll post some inspirtion pics tomorrow...FH is in bed waiting for me!:)

So here's some inspiration pics for my colors:

I don't think I'm going to have the girls wear the sash, but carry red flowers and wear pearls with a red ribbon.

This shade of aqua is a little too light, I think.

This pic is too cute! I know FH wouldn't go for the red Chucks, but I think it's adorable!

No, I don't think it's going to be too bold. Sure you could over do it, but you could do that with any colors. My colors were red, black and white. I was afraid that there was too much red. But once I got everything in that huge hall and it all was put in place it was just enough.

I say go for it.

AHHH! I have been searching for the perfect *CHEAP* wedding favors, and I think I found them!

I was thinking about Jones Sodas with a personalized picture of FH and me, but they are like $30 for a case of 12...no dice.

But I found the idea for scratch-off lottery tickets! I'll put them in little Velum/see-through envelopes with a lucky penny and a label on the front that says, "Wishing you riches from the new Mr. & Mrs!" I'm so excited!

So I dropped my ring off yesterday to be resized (again!) and to have the side-stones cleaned.

When I first bought my ring, I had them resize it in only one day, because I was going out of town for New Year's. The result...my ring was STILL too big, the last 2 side-stones on each side were GREY, and the back of my ring was all misshapened. It was awful. I fiinally broke down and let them have it for 4-6 days, so it can be perfect.

I swear, if those side-stones are still cloudy and grey...I will beat someone!

Great choice of colors! And your ring is very pretty.

I too got a lot of weird faces with my color combo of fuchsia and turquoise - even some ladies on here weren't too sure until I started posting some inspiration boards and then it was so much easier to see....I think people with colors tend to be very visual so it helps to have inspiration pics.

Good luck with your planning!

I was actually considering doing fuchsia or watermelon instead of red, so more power to ya!

UGH! I am so incredibly frustrated with LIFE! Well, not life...but wedding plans! I talked with my church, and they are a go. I'll attach some pics from their website in alittle bit. Now, onto the reception site... I only have 5 choices, really. I'm not a fan of these places being catered by specified people...my sister's hubby is a chef and has tons of chef buddies that will do it for A LOT less than $20/plate.

1- The Greenbrier Hotel. It's absolutely gorgeous...but WAY too expensive, and I don't even want to think about what they charge for food. Oh, and you can't have outside catering.

2- The State Fairgrounds. They have a big reception hall, but it has flourescent lighting, and it's not too great. They have a concession stand window with a small kitchen, but no actual bar. No alcohol or food restrictions. But...it isn't available May 29th. It's like $600.

3- The Brier Inn. Big reception hall area. Has a bar. Pretty nice. Each bartender is $25/hr. No outside alcohol or food. Has to be catered by them...and their food is not very good. It's $600.

4- The Elk's Club (Golf Course). I would LOVE to have it here...but again, it has to be catered by the restraunt there. They have something called "first refusal" and that means it can only be catered by someone else if they can't do it. And there's a small problem with that...my step-mom HATES one of the owners. Actually, hate doesn't even touch how she feels about her. And since she and my dad are helping with the fundage...no go. But it's only $300.

5- The Osteopathic School Alumni Center. This place is really pretty. The only catering restrictions on it are that it has to be done by someone with a catering license (don't know if sis's hub has one...) It has a full kitchen. There is a bar, but no outside alcohol. Each bartender is $25/hr. The dishwasher is $15/hr. Oh, but it's not available May 29th either. It's $750.

I am going to pull my hair out. I can't pay $20 per guest for 200 people! Should I change the date? Push it back a week to June 5th?

f77g4

That sounds very frustrating indeed.

Since your sis's hubby is a chef are there any places that he knows of that can hold the wedding where he and his buddies can work their magic?

Any recreation halls etc?

I would also find out if he has a chefs license or one of his friends which would give you one place although you did say that date wasn't available...hmm.

For the price of the golf course, I may try to have a discussion with your dad and step-mom...like what does she have against the owner? Plus if it's the cheaper option maybe she'll be game.

When we first set our date, I couldn't get the photographer I wanted because someone else contacted her the same day and she asked if I wanted to change my date. I said I wasn't changing it unless I couldn't get the reception site FH wanted...so I understand your feelings about changing the date....but you chose that date for a reason so I think you should only change it if you can't find a place at all......good luck!

We have no other places around here to hold a wedding reception; no rec halls or ANYTHING! It's so frustrating! But yes, I do need to see if he has his catering license...I just called my sister and she said he didn't, but didn't know about his friends. I'll call him when he gets of work at 3.

But the thing about the golf course...my step-mom and one of the owners of the restraunt don't get along. I wasn't very clear in my last post. I mentioned to her that they would have to do the catering, and she went off the deep end. To quote her exactly, "I wouldn't eat or even come within 10 feet of anything that dirty wh*** cooked!" She doesn't hate ANYONE, except this woman. She is the reason my step-mom quit her last job.

Well, I am officially PACKING for the beach! I, along with my FH, dad, step-mom, and little bro, are leaving tomorrow at noon to go see my sister and her hubby and then head to Hatteras, NC! I'm sooooo excited! I need this break! I can't wait to get on the boat and slay the fish! (I couldn't care less about the actual beach!)

I'm practically jumping up and down! I'll make sure to take some good pics!

We got back form the beach last night, and surprisingly, I am glad to be home. We went out on a charter Monday, and the weather was a lot worse than forcasted, so we wrapped it up early. We got a lot of work on the boat done, and got it close to ready for our June trip.

Ok, update. Life has been pretty crazy lately.

One of my BM's, Amy, just told me a few days ago that she's pregnant! I'm super excited! She's really stressed out about it because she's only 20, and not married yet. She was planning a wedding, but she said that's on hold for now. Finding a bigger home is more important. I told her I'd be here for anything she needed!

My puppy, Roxy, cut her little side open on Sunday on a piece of wire on the fence at my mom's house. We took her to the vet and had her all sewn up. She's half Maltese/half Yorkie, so she's tiny, and the cut went practically form her front legs to her back legs...poor little girl. She's still hurting, but she's okay.

My mom, who's only 51, had her hip replaced today. My step-dad just called me and said everything went great and she had a new hip! He's going to call me when he gets to see her. I told him to tell her I love her. I'm headed to the hospital after work with FH and my sister who drove up from NC. It's about 2 hour drive. I'm glad everything went well. I was a total nervous wreck this morning.

I am having an outpatient procedure on Friday. I have severe cervical dysplasia, and it needs to be removed ASAP, because it could progress into cervical cancer quite quickly. So I'm super nervous about that...

Hopefully things die down here soon! I'm soooo stressed! I can't wait for vacation next month!

So I went to see my momma yesterday. It was so strange seeing her helpless in a hospital bed. I have worked in a hospital before, and know what it's like, but it was totally different. My mom is the strongest person I know, and seeing her just lie there was unreal. I just kept staring at her.

Anyway, she's doing well. Today, they are starting physical therapy with her. It will be the first time she walks with her new hip! I am thinking I might drive up there again tonight, since FH is going to his grandparents to help mow their yard and till their garden.

Roxy is doing better, too. She keeps trying to run out of her stitches...like she runs around and then looks at her side again and is very upset that they are still there. It's so cute, yet so sad!

I have never been able to figure-out how to do use that silly thing of they have ~ those look awesome! Again, LOVE your colors. I am curious about ONE thing ~ why do the groomsmen have a white flower and the groom has a red flower? Just curious since all the bridesmaids have red flowers. But again, that looks beautiful! Good Luck! I'm sure your wedding may seem FAR away now ~ but I can vouch and say that EVERYTHING you buy or do now, sooooo helps when crunch time comes and you have soooo many other things to do and buy!! Sounds like your mom is getting better that is great. Its gonna be hard for awhile but hopefully the new hip will do her wonders. I hope for the best. For both your mom and Roxy.

My dog got hit and has a big hole in her side. She keeps running and trying to be normal than she falls its sad but she is improving tremendously!!

And my mom and Roxy are both recovering nicely! My mom is up walking (slowly and quite cautiously) without crutches or a cane! Roxy now has a satellite collar because she has taken 3 of her stitches out! She's pretty upset about that. Dogs are so funny about not realizing what's wrong with them.
