Just wanted to see how many of us are having a rehearsal dinner. For the married women, was the rehearsal worth it?

We are doing a rehearsal and then decorating the sites as well during the rehearsal. Then for the dinner we are not going to a restuarant....but I'm debating on either getting pizzas for the reception site decorating or when we all go back to my parents house to put together centerpieces and such that maybe we will do a cookout kind of thing....we'll see.

We did a rehearsal. It was definately worth it. It only took 15 minutes to show everyone where they stood to time the music and the readings and to let my flowergirls (ages 6 and 3) "practice".
My in laws paid for a nice reherasal dinner at a local country club when it was all over. It was a lot of fun and helped us really get in the mind set that the next day we were getting married.

We are doing a rehearsal and a dinner...My future in-laws are paying for a very nice sit down dinner at their family's restaurant/bar complete with a special guest singer!
Guess I could insert the menu...
This is all prepared from SCRATCH and with a definite SOUTHERN flair...
Grilled Chicken Breast
Pork Chops
Green Beans
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Salad
Bananna Pudding
Chocolate Pie
Sweet Tea
Water/Coffee
Dinner rolls (homemade yeast rolls)

We are having a rehearsal dinner. Justin's parents are paying for it. It will be at the restaurant at the resort. The menu will consist of shrimp, fried catfish, seafood gumbo, salad, tea, wine, and a choice of several different types of pies. There are other side items as well, but I don't really know them all.

We had one just so the minister could go over the vows since it was his first ceremony and he was nervous. I cooked, so I guess we did have a rehearsal dinner.......

We had a rehersal dinner at the farm. We had hamburgers, German potato salad, green salad and a few other things. And then my MIL baked all kinds of yummy cakes! It was good. We had about 40 people at our rehersal dinner.

Let's make this as cheap as possible, Amber!! There is no need to go to a fancy restaurant. We are spending enough on the fricking wedding!!!

That's why we are doing it low key, and also, it gives less of a chance for everyone to get wild the night before. We all want to just relax (if poss) the night before.

Hey Amber, I would say bbq all the way. Though it may still be a bit warm out at that time of year.

We will be having a rehearsal and a dinner. For the dinner we will be going to a steakhouse close to the wedding site. We will have a small menu that the guests can choose from. This way we can keep it more affordable and will not have to worry about people ordering 20 different things, which can take alot longer. We are going to try and get people to pre-order, so that we can save more time, since we are having our rehearsal on a Wednesday and most people will be working the next day!!! Joel's mom offered to pay for some of the rehearsal dinner, but I am not sure how much she is going to contribute, so until I know we are just going to budget it in for ourselves!!!

Just an idea....we had thought about doing this but my FFIL wanted to spend the money so we LET HIM!
Have everyone at your rehearsal dinner bring their favorite dish (make categories ie: mains, sides, desserts, drinks and designate people to the categories so you don't end up with 30 desserts) and have them write the recipe on a card (as a gift for you and Jason). It can be very relaxed and it will be so special to take all those recipes and incorporate them in your and Jason's new life together! The only thing you would have to do is find a recipe box with cards on it that you like!
