When I arrived home from my parents, there was a State Trooper in the driveway and people at my neighbors house. My neighbors brother came up and said that someone broke into his sister's house, in broad daylight! They kicked the door in. Her brother wanted to come into the house with me to make sure that nothing was wrong in my house as well. He had already checked my door - no dents. Thankfully, no one came into my house.
I live in a small mobile home court. More like 8 homes on a gigantic piece of land. Everyone minds their own business and it's peaceful and quiet. It's not a stereotypical mobile home court that is always portrayed on TV.
Anyways, when my neighbor's father came over, he told us that the landlord's mother told him that someone was walking around the property, looking at the houses a few days ago. She's 90 years old. She told him that she understood that they were people who salvage homes, take them out of the courts and burn them.
Now, someone tell me - all of the homes are fairly new (with the exception of two), all are in excellent shape and all are occupied. Why on earth would she think that someone walking around the property would be looking for homes to salvage? It ticks me off that she didn't bother to tell anyone about it.
Thankfully, she wasn't home and wasn't home. It's takes some balls to kick in a door in broad daylight, that's for sure.

Ditto on what Karen said, stay safe, lock your door leave some lights on...
maybe since she's so old she got confused....I will be thinking of you! Please keep us updated on the situation....usually lightning only strikes once...the fool probably won't come back, if it was broad daylight then he/she may have had a specific home in mind for a specific purpose...
Alert your local authorities and DEMAND patrol in your area be beefed up. If you don't see that its being done, keep calling them. They are sworn to uphold their duties and keep you safe.

Beef up patrol....that will be the day. I live in the country and we have to depend on the State Troopers, about a 1/2 hour away for police service if the local copper isn't on duty.
I figure that they hit her because my house conceals hers. I never noticed that until this evening. I'm close to the highway with cars zinging by at all hours of the day or night and a very very busy mechanic's business directly across the road.
I will be taking extra precautions from now on though.
Oh how we wish her cats could talk - they know who came in.
Thanks for the concern ladies. It does kind creep me out knowing that this happened here where it's normally quiet and safe.

Stacey I hope that everything is all right with you tonight. Stay safe. But you know, if there is a story to take, twist, and blow out of proportion, good old Channel 11 News with David and Peggy will be there covering it. Should I be watching for at 11?
Sean got home last night around 8 and sometime between me taking Ruffles to the vet in the morning and him coming home, someone had broken into my car, and the two other cars in the spots outside. And, that is with a security camera from the building next door set on them too. And Sunday when I stepped outside the lillies by my front door had all be broken off and walked all over by some stupid drunk. I tell you people are :censored: holes.

I don't want to scare you, Stacey, but I have heard so many crime stories where they begin the story by saying, "But it's such a quiet neighborhood and nothing like this has ever happened here before." Try to always be with someone, and don't put yourself in any compromising situations! Don't be scared, be confident and aware of your surroundings!! Keep us posted!!

No, no need to watch Channel 11 tonight.
What the hell is up with people? Breaking into other people's homes and cars? Destroying their property? How dare some drunken idiot trample your lillies?
I did get a little chuckle out of the ordeal. I was over there talking with her brother and the Trooper was asking her if she wanted forensics to check for prints. My neighbor, her brother and cousin all look at me and say "Stacey, what do you think?" I work for an attorney, but not a criminal attorney. The cop looked at me funny and I said "I work for an attorney" I figured forensics couldn't hurt - who knows if the idiot touched something without thinking.

Karen - You didn't scare me. I thought of that after I typed it. Believe me, there's a reason why I'm chit chatting online rather than in bed already.

Definitely get prints, because if he is that bold, his prints are probably already on file and you can nail him right away.
