hello everyone!

I'm getting married on saturday and well, my sister was in charge of the music unfortunately, school takes priority so she hasn't had any time to make up a playlist for me. i don't know my music well enough to make a decent one myself, or even have any idea where to start. i looked at cd's but they're all so sappy it makes me want to vomit.

anyone got any ideas for me?
i pretty much need music for everything, so what ever you guys can suggest will be helpful, and being non traditional is encouraged!

I'd suggest googling wedding ceremony music - you'll find lots of different sites...some will even classify by genre. Good luck!

i've been looking on google but all i find is the boring, sappy stuff that way.

and what type of music do you want? Any favorite bands, artists, etc?

hmmm i dunno, i guess just everything i seem to hear at every other wedding i've ever been to, stuff like "everything i do, i do for you", "a whole new world", "baby i love your way", "don't want to miss a thing" and anything by micheal bolton. generally i don't even know what half the songs are titled, i'm not (too) unconventional, or non-mainstream, but i guess i'm just out of touch with current trends or something.
sure those songs may fit with some folks experiance of romance, but i guess my groom and i are just a little too different.

Why not try this site:

or this one:

http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-songs

Do you and your FH have any special songs? Why not just use those?

and as for our favorite bands, most of them are pretty inappropriate for the wedding, somehow i don't think playing MSI's "straight to video" or yoko ishida's "towa no hana" (eternal flower) will really go over all that well.

They probably woulldn't be. Umm look into acoustic music that may help. Maybe bands like Secondhand Serenade and such??

well i think i've figured out one thing, coldplay's "yellow" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAME8GDRTfI&feature=channel) will most likely be our first dance song.

i really like the acoustic idea! that would be perfect during dinner ^_^

We're having live music during cocktail hour and we hired a guy that has a Jack Johnson/Jason Mraz style. I requested music like Jason Mraz's Lucky or I'm Yours and Norah Jones's Come away with Me. Don't know if these would fall into your "too sappy" category.

Also, one song I've become sort of obsessed with this past week is Ben Folds Five's The Luckiest.

i got myself some composed music which was done up professionally and played it for my wedding. the effects was good and i also used it to play along with my montage. The lyrics were meaningful too cos it was written with information relating to me and my husband. I find it cool to do so.

thats a nice idea, but i doubt i could get it written and scored by staurday.

fortunately my sister spent the past two days working on this, and shes done an awsome job.
thanks for the help tho guys!

I would stick to stuff with less words, more beat... But hey... when they pronounce me as his bride, "burnin love" is gonna play

That song wouldn't have immediately suggested itself to me, but I read the lyrics, and I like it. =-)
