Wednesday evening

I loaded up my car with all of the decorations and stuff that needed to be at the hall, and headed over at about 5:30. Other people slowly started showing up, and we got the hall looking amazing. There were a few bumps, and one crying session by me, but after that, it was all better. The hall looked absolutely fantastic!!

By the time we left there at 12:30am, it was ready to go. There had been a few things we needed to get more of, or forgot, so we made our lists.

Thursday morning

Up early, and my sister Leanne (also my MOH) picked me up. We did a whole bunch of running around. She had her nail appointment, so we went there.

After that, we picked up my dad to go get his tux, picked up my dress at the bridal shop, dropped dad, tux and dress off at my sister’s house, and picked up some of the things we needed to finish the cake. Headed out again, and did some last minute shopping for things we had forgotten. Once we were finished that, we were off to the hall to assemble and decorate the cake.

There were some delays in doing that, and we didn’t get it done as quickly as we had wanted to, but the end result was great.

We also had our quick rehearsal with the bridal party to make sure everyone knew what was going on. I wore my wedding day shoes so I would know if I would slip on the hardwood or not.

Leaving there at about 8:00, I realized I had no special underwear for the next day!! I couldn’t get married in my every day underwear, so off to Wal Mart we went (thank goodness for 24 hour Wal Mart!!). Found some cute blue Betty Boop undies, and we left. Lee took my dad, and her two older kids home, I brought Laura (BM) home, and then I headed home to pack some stuff. I packed my overnight bag to bring to the hotel, and my stuff to get ready the next morning. Then I headed off to Lee’s.

Got to Lee’s, drank some champagne and tweezed my eyebrows. We fell asleep watching Montel a little after 12:30, after setting three alarms on my cell phone, and one on hers, for the next morning. I don’t know how, but we slept through the alarms. I kept hitting snooze on mine, I guess, cause it went off again at 6:50, and I panicked. The alarms were set for 6:15. We had a few things we had to do before we got to our hair & makeup appointment, so we rushed. I’m so surprised we didn’t forget anything!!

Anyways, we brushed our teeth, packed her van, and left. We put off the car wash and stopping at the bank, and just headed straight to pick up Laura before heading to the hair and makeup appointment.

Leaving there, we were all starving. By this time it was 11:30, and none of us had eaten, so we hit the McDonald’s drive thru, and grabbed 14 cheeseburgers. The looks we were getting when they saw that it was a bridal party were hilarious! They rushed our order for us. After there, we hit the car wash, and then headed to pick up another Bridesmaid, Carrie, and my mom. From there we headed to the hotel.

We had a lot of time before the photographer got there, so we opened some champagne, ate some more cheeseburgers, and just relaxed.

Leanne and my mom got me dressed and ready while the photographer took some pictures. After I got dressed, the photographer took some random pictures of me around the hotel

The drive down there was a spectacle. The wind was so strong that Jenn, another Bridesmaid, lost grip of the marriage license she was holding, panicked and dropped her wallet, and her money went flying everywhere. She grabbed the marriage license, and I chased her money through the parking lot. It was hilarious. We finally all got in the van, and we left. The girls seemed all nervous and somber, so I cranked the radio and started singing and acting silly. It lightened the mood a little bit, but I could tell they were all a little nervous.

We got to pictures, and the photographer led me to where I would be meeting James for the first time. I was so excited, I was almost running. I could see his arm sticking out from around a corner.

When he saw me, I could see his face relax. He started shaking, his palms were sweaty, and his eyes filled with tears. I hugged & kissed him, and made fun of him for being so emotional. Truth is, so was I, but was trying not to show it at all, so I used my humour as a defense. Ha! It worked quite well, too, until the reception.

Anyways, we then went outside again to meet the rest of the Bridal Party for some more pictures.

None of us really wanted to leave there, cause we were having so much fun, but we had to get to the ceremony. On our way there, I realized that the speech I had typed up was never printed, and it was still at home on my computer. I would have to wing it.

Anyways, we got to the hall, and we went downstairs to wait until someone told us it was time to go up. We got some shots of me on the pool table down there while we were waiting, so I’ll reserve this spot for those.

Time to go upstairs. Still not nervous, maybe a little anxious. As I was standing on the stairs leading up to the ceremony with my dad, I heard the bagpipes start up. “Oh my God” I said to my dad. “Why did I do this?” He looked at me, panicked, and said “What?” I said “The bagpipes. They’re making me cry.” So I tuned them out, and did my best to keep my cool. The moment I saw everyone, my legs got shaky. I’m glad I had my dad to lean on for support.

The ceremony was beautiful, and everyone commented on how personal it was, and how the sand ceremony was beautiful.

Throughout the ceremony, I was trying not to laugh. I was so nervous about being in front of those people, that I was again using humour. I was thinking of random things, and trying to drown out the sound of people crying. I kept looking at one of the groomsmen, who was also trying not to laugh because of me, and it was so hard. I giggled during my vows. But hey, at least I wasn’t a slobbering mess!!

When we were walking back up the aisle, James looked at me and said “Well, the hard part is over!!” I was so happy that he kept it all together during the ceremony. He was about to cry a few times, and if he had, then I would have too.

We did some family pictures afterwards, while the guests were all downstairs, waiting to come back up. There was a little chaos there, but the photographer took charge and handled it. She was so amazing!

After those pictures, the Bridal Party snuck downstairs to another part of the hall while the guests were sent back upstairs.

Dinner was great, even though I didn’t eat too much, and then speeches started. My sister was almost too choked up to talk, but she got through it. I started tearing up, but no waterworks yet. After all of the speeches, it was my turn. I got out most of what I wanted to say, only forgetting a few things. Instead of making a toast to my new husband, I made a toast to my new son, Mason. That got the waterworks going all over the place, and I had to end it sooner than I wanted because I was going to cry.

By 1:45am, James and I were tired, and ready to go to the hotel. We got all of our stuff together, and were just about out the door when the DJ announced that she would be re-playing our first dance song as our last dance song. So we danced once more, and ran out of there.

There is not one thing I would have changed about the day. Everything went off so smoothly. I took time to take it all in and just observe. A few things didn’t go as planned, but I didn’t let it bother me. My husband looked so amazing, and so did my new son. I felt like a princess all day.

I’ll post more pictures as I get them.

The best part about after the wedding was the gift opening. Our families are so generous, and we got enough money to actually go on a honeymoon! I’m so looking forward to it. We’re going to Mexico!!!

Elizabeth, I think she was holding on for dear life. :rofl: There was still snow, which is what I was hoping for. The temps were ok. About +8 in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the wind really picked up in the evening, so our outdoor family pics had to be moved inside. And of course, right after we were done those pictures and it got darker outside, the wind stopped and it was gorgeous. :( Oh well.
