View Full Version : Poll: Need some opinions here!
So, hubby and I are at a difference here. While I'll have the final say anyway (cuz that's the ONE room in the house that is MINE *evil grin*) I am interested in ya'll's opinion on knobs for the kitchen.
I want a western theme. I will be having light blue bandanna material for a valance, and a tan/brown curtain behind that. I have wood (oak??) cabinets and the walls will most likely be a smokey brown.
So, which knobs do ya like? I'm fond of the bronze horses, although I'm totally not a fan of the color - it's almost appropriate. I was thinking of mixing up the horses and roosters. What ones do you like?
*poll coming*

I *love* the horse shoes, but they look dirty to me... Now if they were polished like number 4 I'd be in

sorry but I just had to vote for the roosters. They are just too cute.

I like the first one alright, but I really like the horses and roosters. I'm not too into 2 or 4, and I can see myself getting repeatedly stabbed by 3. :) The shoes are cute too, but I agree that they look dirty. Could you spray paint them?

I don't know if I could spray paint them - I'd think that the paint would eventually flake off :ooh: I suppose I can ask the seller if there's a refinish option for them.
I can see myself hooking my jeans on the horse shoes and tearing them.... that's one of the few downsides to the horseshoes LOL!

Roosters alternated with the horses are high on my list right now, I'm just not feelin the color :irked:
AAAAHHH I wanna add one more to the poll!!! *doh* I found another one that is simple and they look good!

Ok, I am torn I like #2 and #3. Here is an idea, why not put the knobs on the cabinets and the pulls on the drawers? That way you can kinda mix it up a bit. :)
I'm partial to roosters because that is how my camper is decorated, but I think I like # 2 the best
if you were going to hang pics of roosters or horses on the walls, then I'd go with one of those, but if there are no available walls to incorporate the roosters or horses somewhere else, I'd stick with something basic to 'say' western. like # 2:)

I like the horses too, and I like the bronze color alot! My second choice would be the rope star. I decorated my kitchen in roosters, so even though I like that theme alot, I see it as country, but not western if that makes sense.
Thank you ladies! I love the horses and roosters, but keep coming back to the horse shoes IF they can get polished/cleaned up. *sigh* decisions decisions - and these are the least of my worries LOL!

i realyl like the horseshoes and number 2!! I liked Dani's idea, use the knobs for the cabinets and the handles for the drawers!
I like the idea of knobs and pulls.... but there are only 3 1/2 drawers in the kitchen. Hmmmm.....

I love the horseshoes. I also love the stars (any of them!) and roosters. I love stars and I used to have all kinds of kitchen chicken stuff (til my ex threw it all out). But for a western theme, I think the horseshoes would be perfect or the rope star.

 I was waiting for that :bbeek:
The face is missing and we don't have anything that matches to fix it. So eventually the plan is to refinish all the cabinets anyway and replace that one to make it match.

My vote is for #2.
I'm all for simple lines with minimum fuss. I wouldn't want to walk into a Kitchen that screams Door Knobs at Me.
I used to have a Kitchen that had 27 Units in it. And it was the first thing We changed. Everytime i walked in it seemed to shout at Me. :bbeek:
If You really want to go for the Horseshoes. I agree they look "Dirty". Maybe You could get them Sand-Blasted. When i was in Engineering We did a lot of it. The Staff used to bring their Oven Shelves in and i'd blast away in a little world of My own. Used to come up like new.

Mitch, I believe you're on to something. My mom has a sand blaster :whoohoo: and I didn't even think about that! Great idea!
That was another concern though - I don't want the knobs to be the main attention of the kitchen. That's one of the reasons I like the horse ones :)

Now i've seen a picture of Your Kitchen Units i think the Horse ones would look good against the Wooden Doors.
You don't need anything too big on them because the Kitchen is "Face On". Not like Mine where you walk between units both sides of the room.
The Kitchen i had with 27 Units in was like 30ft square with a Vaulted ceiling. And even the big roof couldn't distract from the original knobs until We changed them.
Mitch, I found when I went to the house that the drawers do in fact have pulls and the cupboards have knobs. I think I'm going to try to find something that'll go with the horse knobs for the pulls - not sure yet. I'm leaning towards the horses though.
Hmmm.... I like the ropestars too though - and to elaborate that I could do rope moulding in the kitchen. Here's a couple more pics of the kitchen. I just love the moulding above the sink - and a good look at the cupboards:
ETA: They're all the same color - the lighting is dingy in the bottom one.

You could have Pulls on all the unit doors. (Spanner in the works there lol)
Use the existing holes for one screw and make another hole for the other screw. That way they all match along with the drawers.
Would be easier to do than match Knobs and Pulls. Or to put Knobs on the Drawers.
All My Units have the same Handles on. And are a similar Wood door to Yours.
All this pulling of knobs i need to lay down LMAO.
As for that half draw. You could use one of those plain ones under the sink. And make a drawer front out of that. Then get a new piece of wood to go right along the undersink unit. That way the drawers all match in finish (Shamferred edges etc) Would make a quick, easy, cheap fix until funds are available for new doors if You wanted to change completely.
Wish i lived nearer. I could do a house up on a shoe string.
Thanks Mitch... I'm assuming you posted pictures - they're blocked by my work server and I'll have to look when I get home. I don't like the idea of mixing knobs and pulls - that's just too much. I am so undecided on this. I'm afraid that the horses/roosters will clash with the color of the wood though.

No pictures. Just an over zealous enter key LOL.
I will post some of My Kitchen if You want. I just need to get on the Laptop and transfer them to Photobucket. **** Laptop wont stay online long enough to even swear at it lol.
 My mistake then :) Don't bother with the hassle unless you want to. I know how it goes when a comp wont' stay online. It's *sooooo* frustrating!!!!
