View Full Version : Flip Flop theme
I'm doing a flip flop/beachy theme in my bathroom. I already have the set (below) and I have colored towels. Well, I want to paint the walls. I'm thinking white walls, with a solid dual color border around the top, with sponged flip flop foot prints - hmmmm.. maybe bare footprints? .. around the border. I need some ideas. I was thinking about getting baby sized flip flops and just using those to 'sponge' the print on the wall, then paint in the top part of the flip flop - but that may not work. Any ideas?? :)

If I did the footprints/flip flop prints, I would only do it on one wall.
I think this is cool -

You could do a sky blue on the walls and do tan/sand colored towels and rugs, then use your accessories to pull it all together. Or even do a sand textured wall (put sand in the paint) would be cool.
You could hang sea shells and star fish in small shadow boxes on the walls; something like this -

I love the sand idea - I wish I could paint that well!
I'd prefer it to be more of a flip flop theme than beach theme.... the beach is just a bonus :) LOOOVE those pics though!!!!!

Maybe you could get or make something like this with your last name for the wall -

THAT's what I'm tawkin about! :-) Thanks!!!
We have bright solid colored towels that match the set... and rugs. There's even a flip flop rug I wanna get. I love the curtain! We could do each wall a different color. Hmmm.

When I decorated my guest room, I used foam rubber stamps and craft paint to add the bumblebees. I found this stamp on E-bay and it looks like it would work well for what you want to do:

The Apple Barrell type craft paint worked great and since it is available in so many colors, you could easily match your linens!

If you choose to use the foam stamper, use a foam brush to paint the stamp instead of dipping it and you will get a much more even/better coverage with the paint. (Another one of those trial and error things!)

GREAT info! I was thinking if I did the stamp I'd paint part of it one color and another part another color and so on. I wonder how that works/if that works. I was thinkin bout brushing it onto the stamp cuz dipping's such a mess!
OH! We can use the glaze over solid for the walls in there too... hmmmmmm now the gears are turnin. Like 2 walls one color, 2 walls another color and use the alternate color "plastic bagged" over... Am I makin sense? :snide:

LOL - you are making sense, but it sounds WAY too busy to me for a bath. I think I would stick to painting the walls white and stamping the flip flops in various colors as a border around the walls at the level where the doorframe comes in. If you wanted to add color to some of the walls, I would pick one wall and use it as an accent wall. Remember that baths are small and you don't want to have too many things going on in there. :o
ETA - I would chose 3 or 4 colors of paint for the flip flops and just alternate them if it were me too. This would be MUCH easier to do than painting 2 tone flip flops with one stamp.

Also...did you know they make a "sand" texture paint? That might be really cute if you did "sand" colored walls as it would have the texture too!

In England We couldn't get away with a Beach Theme anywhere in the house.
Not unless it involved an oil slick up the wall, loads of wet tissues and unmentionables on the floor. And a customary dead Seagull.
I say go with just the flipflops as a border. With bright coloured towels and the Goodies in Your first picture. IMO too much on the walls would be overkill.
Sometimes less is more.
I'm off to look for a dead Seagull on eBay

That is a really cute theme. Flip flops are grand. When I moved to my first apartment, a friend gave me some flip flop coasters as a house warming gift.
I love these towels............even if you only buy one and hang it on the towel rack for decoration.......not really to use

Speaking of which, I forgot to add that I have these towels (just the hand towels) and I plan on getting the rug shown underneath... come to think of it, Target has the whole set and I didn't realize how much they have in regards to the theme!

Alright, so the cheapest I can find this shower curtain is $22 plus shipping *yikes!*, but it's exactly what I want eventually because it matches the colors and the set (striped umbrella, colors match, etc):
