I am going to do a message-in-a-bottle for my save the dates! I was wondering if anybody has done them before? If you know where to get inexpensive material? and what kind of paper to use for the scrolls? Thanks everyone!

Sounds like a cute idea, but do you actually mail out little scrolls in a bottle?

Yes. I read online that if you use plastic bottles with corks you don't even have to put them in a box, you can place a shipping label and postage right on the bottle. If you use glass bottles they have to be shipped in a box. I can't wait to start making them! :o

I think someone did that with their invites here if I remember correctly.

Oh, OK cool; I was wondering how you would ship a bottle and figured it would have to be in a box and that might be expensive.

Yes, i actually spoke to a guy from the post office that said people mail everything and anything. once a guy even put a label on a coconut and mailed it. but you pay a little extra b/c obviously it cant go through their automatic sorter and needs hand sorting.

I would just use thick "marbled" cardstock. if you want to give it an aged look you could burn the edges like old treasure maps
