Ugh I can't stand it anymore! I've been on one form or another for 14 years now. We've already decided we were going to TTC later this year so I went from Seasonale to LoEstrin to try to get back to a monthly cycle before going off completely.

I've had breakthrough bleeding for the past week because of the switch in pills and it makes me wonder what the point is of staying on if I have to deal with that. So forget it, no more, I'm done! If I have to deal with that time of the month on vacation, so be it.

I have no idea how my body is going to react... ugh.

How some of you do with going off of BC? Oh and how long were you on it before going off?

I stopped taking the pill 2 months ago after taking it for 8 years. Basically, I don't know when AF is going to show up as I didn't get the cramps right before, instead I got them 2 weeks before my period! Not too mention my ovaries feel like I am going to bottom out of my body, they just hurt like crazy. (That was one of the reasons I was on BC to help with my endrometrosis).

I wonder what long term side effects the pill does to ones body.

I've been on and off it since early 2004. Most recently, I stopped taking bc in January after having been on it since June 2006. I took it through the inactive week and had that period, and I haven't had anything since. No cramps, no spotting, no period. Nothing. But I've always been irregular and part of why I started the pill was to help regulate my cycle... so, I'm not surprised nothing has happened since.

I was on BC for 5 years and stopped the past September due to problems with them. I was on ortho evra (patch) for 4 1/2 years and all of a sudden was having bad break through bleeding among other side effects (headaches, no libido), I switched to LoEstrin and the break through bleeding went away but the other side effects got worse. I was on that for 4 or 5 months and finally just decided i was done. I started feeling better a few weeks after stopping. I had some spotting here and there, and would have had my period about 10 weeks after I stopped had I not gotten pregnant.

Its now been 8 weeks since my d&c and no period and Im scared to call my dr because he might want to put me back on bc to make my period come back, and i do not want to do that!!

I feel so different since not being on bc. DH agrees, he said its like when I was on bc my personality was on auto piliot, and now im back to normal (whatever he means by that :-)). I mean different in a good way. I never ever plan on going back on it.

I was the pill for a little over 11 years. For the first four weeks I felt very bloated. Now my periods last longer now. Also I get cramps before my period and backaches. The newest and worst side effect is insomnia. I was reading the change in hormones and disrupt sleeping patterns. It's really not that bad, aside from the not sleeping I think my body is getting used to it.

I've really been wondering what those long term side effects are too!

I have been talking to FH about going off the pill once we're married. I'm tired of gaining weight, so I switched to Yaz, and it makes me break out and be in a bitchy mood almost all the time! I'm just sick of it! My sister is lending me a book so we can start the natural family planning with condoms. We're definitely not TTC, but I want to be off the pill. I've been on it for about 3 years.

But I'm REALLY not looking forward to Aunt Flo coming back.

I also have been taking Yaz. I have been on it for about 10 months. I love it compared to the others I have taken (I've been on the total about 3 years), except for the weight gain. It actually isnt a tremendous weight gain, my FH says he doesn't even notice, but it makes me feel miserable. I was much happier with my body and the way I felt before I started taking the pill. It has effected my moods so much. I can be in a great mood and just little things sometimes can make me get into a bad mood really easily, and that certainly isn't me.
We wont be trying to conceive for at least a year, but I definitely plan on stopping the pill after the wedding in May. I cant wait to get back to my old self again. :)

OMG! I'm so glad you said that! Now I know I'm not imagining things! I'm going to have to show FH this! Now I definitely can't wait to get off the BC.

Yeah. It is definitely not your imagination. It happens so gradually once you start taking them, that it's all happening before you know it. Or at least that's the way it was for me. I was trying to think back a couple months ago to when all of this stuff started and it went directly back to the time I started taking the BC. But, only 2 1/2 more months! YAY! :)

i've been off bc since the end of august... honestly... i don't really notice any difference other than i can't predict AF like i once could (the wednesday of my placebo week between 2-4pm... seriously... not joking). my FH said that it can take up to a year before the BC completely clears out of your system... so we'll see... it seems the longer i'm off the longer between my periods (started around 26-28 days... last month it was 31!)

i also lost some weight which was nice, not much about 5lbs... but hey when ur getting married u take what you can get ;)

What kind on BC were you on? You sound like your exactly describing my exact experience. My cycles are now around 38 days apart. I have some sleeping and bloating issues but that is all I have really noticed.

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 8.5 years and hubby and I started noticing that I was irritable and had no sex drive in the past year or two. I've decided to stay on the pill until we want to have a baby, probably next year sometime. I will be so happy when I get off the pill! Hooray for you for getting off the pill! Your body will get back to its normal self and it will be happy. :)

I just stopped taking b/c on Saturday :whoohoo: We're going to TTC after September, so we figure, since my pill just ran out for this prescription, now's as good a time as any to start adjusting to not being on it.

*takes a deep breath* I'm *so* excited!
