Have any of you TTC ladies had problems sleeping? I have always had sleeping problems, but the last 2 weeks its been horrible. I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I tried a different bed and sleeping on the couch so I know it's not just simply my mattress. Last night I only got 2 real sleeping hours and felt like I never went into REM sleep. I was reading on the internet that change in hormone levels can sometime cause this. Which makes sense for me, because coming off BC has not been a complete cake walk for me. So do any of you know any all natural sleep remedies? I've tried the warm milk, that didn't work. I've also tried cardio exercise at night, but I think it had the opposite effect that I intended, because it just increased my blood flow and made me more awake.

I've heard of people having success with melatonin. I've never used it, though.

And I try not to exercise after 6pm because I have sleep issues if I do it later.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I did just I hear back from my doctor, incase anyone is wondering. She suggested benadryl, a bath and warm milk.

I used nightquil when I was sick :)

Actually what really helped me a lot is having the same routine everyday.

- get home and cook dinner
- eat
- check email
- shower / bath
- Stretch before bed
- get ready for bed
- go to bed

I also tell myself to go to sleep. I took Psychology in college and I read somewhere that if you tell your mind something 3 times outloud right before bed, you do it.

I tried it out a few times, like tell myself to get up at exactly 7am. BAM next morning I awake at 6:59am with no alarm or anything. I also learned that your brain going into cycles while you sleep and a regular person "thinks"they sleep a good ol 8 hours but in actuality they get about 3-4 good sleep rem cycles. When you are in the good sleep rem cycle then thats when you start dreaming. When you are dreaming thats a good thing. Means you are getting your rest.

sex also works too

I can't take nightquil because it has alcohol in it. LOL to the sex suggestion. Actually because we are trying to conceive we have been doing it almost everyday, so you would think I would be tired. LOL

I just want to update. Benadryl, is a miracle! I am finally getting some sleep. Hopefully I will only need to take this for a few more days and my sleeping cycle will get back to normal.

I wish I had some remedies to share with you, but I tend to have problems sleeping too and benadryl doesn't seem to help me.

I have been taking benadryl again recently for my allergies and it really knocks me out. I have caught myself dozing at the computer in the middle of the day; even in the car the other day, that freaked me out.

So I am trying not to take it unless I feel really bad or right before bed.

Glad you found something to help and you can get some sleep ... hopefully you will be back to normal soon.
