I've been having a fair bit of wedding depression lately, so I thought making a journal might help put the smile back on my dile.
I guess first I should kind of introduce myself and tell our story. My name is Sarah but for reasons unknown, people call me Mary. I suspect it is solely because it rhymes with 'scary'. I have an 8 year old daughter from a previous relationship, and FH and I have been together for 6 years.
He proposed to me last January while we were on holidays together. Actually, the day he proposed we went to a theme park, and when we got there we discovered that they had built an ultra-awesome water theme park right next to it, and for an extra $30 you could get a two day pass and go between the two of them as much as you wanted. He loooooves water slides, so we bought the two day pass and spent the day on rollercoasters and water slides. Then he proposed after dinner that night, and we had to get up the next morning and head back to the themeparks. It was a very odd (yet fun!) way to spend our first day of being engaged! I was a bit sad about being so far away from my mum and my friends, so there was no one to make a fuss for me, but we got checked in by the same ticket checker both days. On the second day she noticed my ring and made a big fuss and I got to feel all special about it, which was nice.
We originally set the date for late 2010. This is because I am really awful at planning anything, and we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time. But less then a month later we decided we couldn't wait that long and bought it forward to May 09.
My wedding details- I have four bridesmaids, and my brother is one of the groomsmen. The wedding is only 8 weeks away, so I've made all the major decisions, and I'm now down to the nitty-gritty, like centrepieces and music. I've been looking forward to picking this kind of stuff for months, so it's getting a bit exciting for me now. As a couple we aren't really in to hearts and doves and mush, so our wedding is a little non-traditional in that respect. We don't really have a theme, or even a real colour scheme- I'll post photos to show you what I mean. I'm a bit ecclectic and eccentric in life, and I think this comes through in our wedding choices!
Well that's the short version of our story. Now I'm going to go dig up some photos of my bridesmaids dresses and stuff so I can put them up. This is actually kind of exciting! And hey, I'm smiling :).
