So. I'm pretty much thinking that Primerica is a pryimad sceme. :( Steve was so desprate he almost fell for it though. Luckily, i used google skillz to sort that out. I'm really sad though. Why can't it be something good?!?! Rawr. At first i told Steve to look it up.. So he did a lazy search and said 'yeah, its ok' so i checked.. lol Yeah. Not ok. But we already promised to meet with the guy on Thursday. So.. Now we aren't giving them ANY personal information, and if he asks for a contact, i'll tell him to give me his number instead. I want him to call his friend to warn him, but of course, Steve doesn't think its a big deal. :snide:
I guess my question here is, has anyone have any experience with this company? I guess they are connected to Citi bank or something. Gah. Thinking about this makes me sad. :ooh:

YES! Pyramid scheme. A few years ago, when I was hurting for a job, I went for a job “interview” with Primerica. They had me under the impression that it was a financial assistance company. Well, I got there, walked in to a room full of people, and they started their presentation. I knew within minutes that it was a pyramid scheme. Me, and a few others, got up and just left. When I got home, I researched them, and there were a ton of stories online about them, and how they’re scammers. A friend of mine at the time also told me how they almost fell for it too.
And, chances are, they will ask for a contact number, address, and with me, they asked for my SIN (Social Security Number equivalent in Canada), which I never gave them.
Don’t waste your time. Seriously!

Yup, I can confirm that they're a pyramid scheme. I got a call from them when I was looking for a job a couple years ago. Fortunately I didn't set anything up when they called; I just said I'd think about it and get back to them. When I hung up, I told Eddie who'd called, and he told me all about them. I think he went to one of their meetings years ago.

I have never heard of this company but found lots of similar stories in a quick search. I don't know if they are really a scam, but MLM (multi-level marketing/pyramid thing) is not easy to make money at ( commission/recruiting based thing) and they like to make it out to be better than it is.
I would not waste my time with them either.

Thanks. I knew we could count on you guys. :D We've been trying to contact Nick (our friend) to tell him NO DON'T DO IT! lol. No response so far. We are SO not going. If we can't get him before then.. We just won't show up. =P Hopefully we'll be able to warn him..
I can't believe they tried to contact Sean, too. O_O

i called nick to tell him and he kept telling me he was sure they were ok, his sister and gf are part of it... =/ sometimes you gotta learn for yourself i guess.
from what I have looked up online it's not a "scam" but i don't think it's as easy as they make it out to be. not to mention i dunno it they are gunna take money if you don't do well.. i just don't know.

Right; it is not really a scam. I am sure there are some people out there that may make money with them. But it is not as easy as they will make it seem and is not for everyone. These kind of places will try to hook you in saying how easy it is to make a lot of money. They will skate around your questions and not tell you the whole truth, just to get you in.
I got hooked into something similar selling vacuum cleaners several years ago. I answered an ad for a job making $12 per hour and it turned out to be a commission based job. I stayed and gave it a shot because the guy kept pumping me up, telling me how great I was and all, and offering me big bonus' when I'd sale (plus I hated the job I was at). Then he made me lead over my own group of new people to train and make money off their sales and their recruits (pyramid); I made some good money for a few months, but it didn't last and I started making less and less and they still wanted me to be there everyday. I started waiting tables on the side and I finally gave up after about 6 months; I am surprised I made it that long.

Oh geez. Thats scary Brandi. Steve's not worried about doing something hard.. Just wants to be able to make money. I have a feeling it wouldn't be worth it to lose his unemployment over something like this, where he might not be able to keep it because hes making less money. =P
