I have seen a few brides here that have dyed their crinoline and I see it becoming more and more poplular.

So, would you do it; did you do it? Did/would you dye it yourself or pay to have it dyed? Was it/will it be dyed in your wedding color or some other color? Do share :)

*poll coming ;)

I didn't so much as Dye Mine.

I more, shall We say, CAR SPRAYED IT!!!!

I tried to Dye it from White to black but it went Bronze. :bbeek:
So one afternoon i had a brainwave and got a can of Car Spray from the Shed. I had already used some on My Dolls House Roof.
My next door neighbour heard Me in the Garden and came out to say Hello. She caught Me with the Crinoline hanging off the Lean-To. Me with a Can of Car Spray in hand. Getting completely high on the fumes. But it worked and it stiffened it up nicely into the bargain. :winktongue:

I only had enough Spray to do the bottom that shows. The rest remained Bronze. And it's not until someone took a photo of Me wearing Steel-toecapped Boots under the Dress that the Bronze part ever showed.

*hehe* Well that is one way to do it ;)

From what I've heard, you would have to dye it several times to get the darker effect.

Do you have a picture where you can see the crinoline under your dress?

Here's the Pic i was on about. You can see the Bronze part between My legs and the Black Car Spray on the bottom half.

Ah; I probably wouldn't have even noticed the bronze. That pic is cool with the boots too ;)

I'm not dying mine. I'd LOVE to...but for one I think my parents might think its too outrageous and also I would hate to screw it up and then have the wrong color of crinoline.

I'm not using one. But had I thought about getting one and coloring it I totally would have. I love the way it looks.

Until you posted this, I thought people only wore colored crinolines with short dresses. I now want to do this!!! I'm wearing red shoes, so I suppose my crinoline should be red as well??

That is what I would do :)

I have seen people do this for their "something blue", or to match their wedding colors, or just for a little pop and added personality ;)

I agree. I think it looks really neat, but my mom would NEVER let me hear the end of it. She is way too much of a traditionalist when it comes to weddings, and since she is paying, I guess I better go along with her!

I loooove colored crinolines but it just didn't work for me. My dress had gold on it, my colors were yellow and green...and I couldn't figure out if I should dye it beigy gold (and then it might look like nude underwear or something, bleh), or maybe not match with the yellow or green and so I just said whatever I am not doing it. :bbeek:

I was kinda in the same boat with my dress having gold in it... The sash on my dress had bronze and gold, and I knew I'd never be able to get my crinoline the right color. If it hadn't been for that, I would've dyed it in a heartbeat!

I'd really love to do this with a red AND black one. But my skirt already lays nicely the way it is, and I'm thinking if I got the trumpet crinny, it would make the bottom part WAY poufy. lol

Wow, I've never even heard of this till now! I think it looks great in those pics, but I wouldn't do it myself. I'd be afraid of it showing through my dress or bleeding or something and I don't want to risk it. Plus, my dress doesn't show off even the slightest bit of my slip, and I don't have the legs to have my dress lifted all night :)

I'd think if you made it your something blue you might slip it past the traditionalist mothers of the brides and such. How about telling them something like you were told the more blue you wear at the wedding, the less your marriage will experience of sorrows, so you wanted to have all the blue you could! :) We could make it a new wedding tradition. It makes as much sense as saying sticking a penny in your shoe (Ow!) means you'll be wealthy.
