This is my bouquet (I have put on white ribbon and a pearl sleeve since then but you get the idea...the BM's are smaller versions of the exact same thing w/o the pearl sleeve on the stems...the pic doesn't do it justice it's pretty big and perfectly round (now that was a stressful endeavor) I made all my flowers myself...my FMIL and I began them together but bless her heart we have different ideas/visions about my wedding so I graciously sent her onto a different project and did 8 bouqets myself (mine, 6 BM's and a tossing bouquet).

This is my mom (in the black capris) and his mom at our shower playing the TP game...they were instructed to roll off as much as they would use (that was all they were told) then after they rolled off what they wanted they had to start wrapping it around their fingers and talk about their child (me for my mom, him for his) until they had the TP wrapped back up....LOL my mom was still mad at me over the "MOB dress incident" (see post in vents and frustrations) and she added "Ellen always has been very independent and outspoken, but we love her anyway"...I ROLLED, Eric was crying he was laughing so hard!

Honeymoon trip). Eric found the cutest little "cell phone" that rings and blinks and pops open and sings Disney songs...he thought it would be cute to have a cell phone in her purse! I bought blank wedding programs off of ebay and then manipulated wordperfect to fit the picture and the info....I would be more than happy to email the word document to you and you can retype them to fit your wedding and then they should print out perfectly for you! I paid about 24 for 200 programs!

06-23-2006, 02:56 PM
No, not too bad...If you're doing a clutch like mine just start off with your ones in the center and then add one to the side (keep rotating it) to keep it round...then bind them (since yours are fresh I suppose floral tape won't work) duh me! It took me about 4 hours to make all 7 small ones and about 2 hours to make mine (but I kept tearing it apart and redoing it...)
Go on line and type in DIY wedding flowers and you will get tons of sites with EXACT instructions...
Good luck, stay calm and smile!
Be sure to cut the ends off the stems (just a snip) most floral places seal them for shipping and if you don't cut the "sealer" off they can't "drink"....

You have done a wonderful job with all the DIY things. You should be very proud of yourself. I done a lot of my own things as well and even though it was hard I took great pride in it. Now i have the satisfaction of knowing I had a more hands on with our wedding. The thing i was the most proud of was the unity candle holder. It turned out really pretty. once more, you are doing a really good job.

MY MOH #1 (my sister) sent this to me...thinks she's trying to tell me something? LOL
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a
well. The animal cried piteously for hours as
the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the
well needed to be covered up anyway;
it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and
help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began
to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the
donkey realized what was happening and cried
horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he
quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally
looked down the well. He was astonished at what
he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his
back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel
dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it
off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey
stepped up over the edge of the well and
happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds
of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well
is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of
our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out
of the deepest wells just by not stopping,

I just finished going thru your journal and I don't know where to start........I love everything!!
Your DIY stuff looks amazing! I love the picture on your programs. I don't know you at all but I can tell it totally fits you and Eric.
Your Mom's dress is beautiful. She looks great in it. I really like your dress too. I tried on some similar and loved them.
Love your cake topper. Like the other ladies said it didn't cost too much if it means so much to you. Plus you have it as a keepsake now forever. I wanted ours to look like us too so I ended up making it myself.
I wanted to comment on your engagement pics too. You two do look so in love! They don't look posed at all. You look so comfortable and relaxed with eachother. So pretty!

I really liked the "inspirational" message that your sister sent you. Although I am not sure what she might be trying to tell you...maybe she is preparing you for some not so good news...but the story itself was motivational!!!

Hey Ellen, was it you that said that your mom and MIL will be lighting the tapers for the unity candle?? If so, is that the standard way to do it?

Hey Ellen, was it you that said that your mom and MIL will be lighting the tapers for the unity candle?? If so, is that the standard way to do it?
That's who's going to light mine...
THIS WAS WHAT I FOUND ON IT................
The Unity Candle Ceremony became popular in the 1970's during the time that the Baby Boomers changed weddings forever by writing their own marriage vows. As a sign of their lives coming together, both the bride and groom took a lighted taper candle and together they lit a larger candle, signifying their lives being joined. The Unity Candle ceremony has taken on many different appearances in the past 30 years and the ceremony can be included in your wedding in many different ways. Probably the most common example of the unity candle ceremony is as follows: After the couple exchange wedding rings, the bride and groom each take a taper candle and together light a larger candle. In recent years, it has become common for the mothers of the bride and groom to light the side tapers of each of their offspring.

Thanks Ellen. I have been trying to find a way to involve my mother in the ceremony (even if she is being a butthead right now), and I think this may be the perfect thing. She is terrible at public reading, as am I, and she is completely tone deaf. So, this should work.

These are the songs we are using in the ceremony and then the reception
Entrance of Groom/Groomsmen and Seating of Mothers
John Berry---Your Love Amazes Me
I've seen the seven wonders of the world
I've seen the beauty of diamonds and pearls
But they mean nothing baby
Your love amazes me
I've seen a sunset that would make you cry
And colors of the rainbow, reaching cross the sky
The moon in all it's phases
Your love amazes me
Don't you ever doubt this love of mine
You're the only one for me
You give me hope
You give me reason
You give me something to believe in
Forever faithfully
Your love amazes me
I prayed for miracles that never came
I got down on my knees out in the pouring rain
But only you could save me
Your love amazes me
Don't you ever doubt this love of mine
You're the only one for me
You give me hope
You give me reason
You give me something to believe in
Forever faithfully
Your love amazes me
Your love
But only you could save me
Your love amazes me
Bridesmaids Processional
Conway Twitty-The Rose (Bette Midler)
I chose this because of my flowers, and I chose my flowers because when we first started dating he always brought me a single long stemmed rose
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, it's only seed
It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love, in the spring
Becomes the rose
Unity Candle Lighting
George Strait---I Cross My Heart
Our love is unconditional, we knew it from the start.
I see it in your eyes, you can feel it from my heart.
From here on after let's stay the way we are right now,
And share all the love and laughter that a lifetime will allow.
[Chorus:]
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true.
In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine.
You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete,
And as long as there's a breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet.
As we look into the future, it's as far as we can see,
So let's make each tomorrow be the best that it can be.
[Chorus]
And if along the way we find a day it starts to storm,
You've got the promise of my love to keep you warm.
In all the world you'll never find a love as true as mine,
A love as true as mine.
Recessional---Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours!
The music and the beat and the constant "Here I am baby...Signed, Sealed Delivered, I'm Yours....makes it the song we want...the lyrics had too many ooh ahhs and woohoos in it to post!

Our First Dance Song
Rascal Flatts---Bless The Broken Road
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
Now I'm just rolling home
Into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you.
Mother/Groom Dance
Randy Travis---Angels (this was her only request in the music)
Me and some of the boys were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him
Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
And then I said who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth?
She counted your fingers and toes and thank god you were whole
Son you outta know who loved you first, that's right
And who always came running everytime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best to teach you wrong from right
And how many nights did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed that you came in
And who'd be there for you right up to the end
Think about it tonight
Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
That's right
Father Daughter Dance
Bob Carlisle---Butterfly Kisses
There's two things I know for sure
She was sent here from Heaven
And she's daddys little girl
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes
And I thank God for all of the joy in my life
Oh but most of all
For butterlfy kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk beside the pony dady
It's my first ride
I know the cake looks funny daddy
But i sure tried
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
TO deseve a hug every mornin
And butterfly kisses at night
Sweet 16 today
She's lookin like her mama
A little more every day
One part woman
The other part girl
To perfume and mke up
From ribbons and curls
Trying her wongs out in a great big world
But I remember
Butterlfy kisses after bedtime prayer
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
You know how much I love you dady
But if you don't mind
I'm only gonna kiss you on the check this time
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I muct have done something right
To deserve her love every mornin
And butterfly kisses at night
All the precious time
Like the wind the years go by
Precious Butterfly
Spread yuor wings and fly
She'll change her name today
She'll make a promise and I'll give her aways
Standing in the bride room just starin at her
She asked me what I'm thinkin
And I said I'm not sure
I just feel like I'm loosin my baby girl
And she leaned over
And gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk me down the isle daddy
It's just about time
Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?
Daddys don't cry
Oh with all that I've done wrong
I must have done something right
To deserve her love every mornin and butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask GOd for more than this is what love is
I know I've got to let her go but I'll always remember
Every hug in the mornin and butterly kisses

Out of apt in Bowling Green to where I am now in Bowling Green in Sept 05 due to the drug dealers (OHHHHH, nice apts and lush landscaping FOOLED me!)
And now out of where I am now to his parents farm house....then we are moving ONE MORE TIME when we buy our farm...

Gosh you sound like me with moving. the first year the kids dad and i were married he moved me about 10 times. that was part of the reason are marriage failed. i moved more than a gypsy with him. i started to think he grew up a nomad. i just wanted to put down roots and stay somewhere. anywhere would do. :)

I stayed put until the divorce...this has been very hard on me I am a homebody and detest feeling uprooted...when we divorced I was fine in my apt (relieved actually) but then my ex started stalking me and it turned ugly, I met Eric and he demanded that due to him not being in the same town with me that I move home with my folks so I would be safe. When I moved home my ex went balistic (sp) and caused me to lose my job...therefore one night Eric mentioned a position he saw advertised, I applied, got it, moved and the rest is history!

I wanted something loose and romantic that would work with veil and tiara....here are the results...She said it would be much "neater" the day of the wedding...but I was tickled to death with what she did...AND SHE NEVER USED A CURLING IRON! This is my clean dry hair and her fingers and bobby pins (I was amazed)!
I tried to resize them 3 times and they still previewed as huge...sorry

If you saw the real photo you could see that Eric's hat is stained (but that just certifies his authentic cowboy status :bblol: ). Those are our straw ones, we both have black too and I just bought a new camel one, Eric hasn't found the one he likes yet in camel.

The flip flops are OUT! Eric has a foot fettish that I was not aware of (I love my pumps and heels that I wear to work and evidently he loves them on me...)he says it kills him when he sees me at work all dressed up and wearing my "heels" ! So I am shopping for a pair of white/no higher than 2 inch/heels...and I prefer some sort of "vampy" lil bow or something like that....

LA LA LA, hell Lacey we all know you're touched, but I love ya anyway!:bbmrgreen:
Thank you, I think you have very elegant tastes and once I saw yours I knew what I had previously purchased was not what I wanted, Eric just confirmed it for me when he went on an on about sexy shoes...
Darling I am touched in more ways than you can imagine.
I would advise you to go out in the next few days and get some little insoles for those shoes though. As I recall they needed a little extra cushioning.

No I'm pretty calm, I need to start laying in the tanning bed though and my shoes are on the way, all the stuff is ready and confirmed now it just has to be put together next Friday...
Eric has been leaving me little love notes at the house when he goes up there and works during the day (before he goes to work)...He left me one yesterday that said "Mrs. Vinson, I love you and will call you tonight, Love Mr. Vinson" so it just makes me want to get the show on the road and become his WIFE~!

There are alot of gently horses Karen. As long as you respect the space they need, and know how to walk around them, and try not to spook them you should be fine. A friend of mine has a racing horse that was 'retired' and ready to become glue. She rescued him, and he is the sweetest horse. He is calm, and peacefull, and way playfull. I watching him knock one of the kids off the fence, and I swear, he was smiling!!
