There are alot of gently horses Karen. As long as you respect the space they need, and know how to walk around them, and try not to spook them you should be fine. A friend of mine has a racing horse that was 'retired' and ready to become glue. She rescued him, and he is the sweetest horse. He is calm, and peacefull, and way playfull. I watching him knock one of the kids off the fence, and I swear, he was smiling!!

We were kids, and we were scared and I think they sensed that. I think they were the ones who didn't respect us. Because they didn't have to. We didn't know how to control them.

I hadn't been on a horse in years, and when I started riding Madar (my friend's horse) I was totally nervous. It's great now. I have a blast. Actually she boards him at another friend's house who gives lessons.

I could get ya on one yet!!!!

I want to go down in history as saying, I'm scared to death of horses. Those guys are mean. One took a chunk out of my sister's shoulder.:bbeek: I rode one once and he wouldn't do anything I wanted, he just wanted to bite me.

That was an awful experience for you Karen and I'm sorry you had to go thru it.

I know this sounds awful but (it's my :censored: journal so I can say what I want:bblol: lol) if one of our horses did that he/she'd be dogfood or glue!

Our horses are well bred (has ALOT to do with it), intelligent, well trained (has even MORE to do with it) animals... they don't bite, kick, paw or act stupid if they do Eric takes them into the round pen and "schools" them which means he runs them in circles until they figure out "boy that was stupid for me to do", if they do it again and it's off to ALPO or ELMERS.

I completely understand your fear and don't blame you a bit, unfortunatley there are people out there who raise what us horse people call "idiot horses" and they won't yield to the rider.

If you ever want a nice calm relaxed experience hitch a ride with Heather and I'll put you on a GOOD horse and stay right there with you!

So, those horses were bad? I don't mean they meant to be bad, but they were raised to be bad. That isn't normally how horses are. They don't normally bite? Is that right?

You are right on that point, but only partially...a biting horse is not good...regardless of the experience of the rider.

I am not an expert but I have never had one bite me. And I have been on them when I was skiddish and scared.

So when you are on them, and they turn their heads and bite at your leg, that's not a normal horse thing to do? My sister, Jody, was turned around the other way, and the horse bit a chunk out of her shoulder, she still has a scar. They don't normally do that? I have never seen a horse that didn't do that.

A "BAD" horse is one with bad/unwanted habits IE: biting, rearing, not yielding, cribbing (chewing and sucking wind) etc... a lot of it has to do with

1) The breed and it's bloodlines
2) It's training or lack of

If you have a good natured horse then it wouldn't matter what happened it would be good natured if you have a bad natured horse that is very head strong and could be bred poorly then you have the making of a problem...depending on how it is trained and handled.

lol.... I should send you my FIL's horse. You'd have so much fun with him! He's a stallion and needs a good a$$ whomping!! Likes to bite too!! And has just about run me down on more then one occasion!! I'm taking my camera in hopes of getting some photos this weekend. I'll see what I have to report when I get back on Monday!! :)

No it is not normal, horses shouldn't bite that's a terrible problem. They will turn their heads if there is pressure on the bit and reins from the result of an inexperienced rider. Most horses are very tender in the mouth and only require slight pressure to yield. To bite her while she's on the ground and take a chunk out of her shoulder is HORRIBLE. To turn it's head and sniff the foot of whoever is on its back is normal but not to BITE.

No, I mean actually going for your foot, with mouth open and trying to chomp on it. Those horses must have just been mean from abuse or whatever. That's just sad.

If your sister got bit while on horseback by another horse behind her that could be the result of a stud (the biter) attempting to breed the horse that she was on (a mare in season). If that is the case whoever was on the stud is to blame for that one...you have to watch mares around studs carefully....

Was she on a horse and another horse behind her bit her?

No, she wasn't on a horse. She was just standing there, and he came up behind her and bit her.

That would have been a bad situation for the horse if I had been there...they shouldn't do that and none of ours do. As far as turning their heads and biting while your riding that's bad too.

Sadly there are a lot of horses that aren't bred well and have no training and are inclined to be tempermental thus a bad situation occurs.

I had to laugh at your horse stories. When I was little my parents bought me a Welsh pony, Snowflake. He was the biggest a$$ in the world. I don't remember a time trying to get on him that he didn't turn around and nip at my calf. But, he would only do it if my dad wasn't there. My mom also had a gorgeous palamino that was a trained show horse. Unfortunately she hated women. Any man in the world could ride her just fine, but you add a double X chromosome to the mix and she wasn't having it.

That would be Eric's mare! Lena tolerates me but that's about it! My mare on the other hand loves anyone who will rub her!

I first chose Rascal Flatts/Bless The Broken Road for our first dance song, Eric and I used to listen to it together over the phone when we were dating and lived so far apart...for us it was the perfect song.

As time went on our love grew and intensified and here I am 5 days before our wedding changing the song. Today while at lunch I heard Alan Jackson's "Like Red On A Rose" and knew instantly that God meant for me to hear that song and that was our new First Dance Song... the lyrics are simple but true the bluesy, haunting ballad reaches out and grabs ahold of your heart and in the time that it plays it speaks to your soul. It is very dramatic, very passionate and it is very us.

I missed each and every one of ya'll SINCERELY! I thought of you guys several times before the wedding and was going thru withdrawals last night because I couldn't get on-line! Eric took care of that at home however...he switched the phone service and got me pretty decent dial up (oxymoron) so I should be able to chit chat at night some too, when I get my computer set up...right now I have tons of clothes to wash (his from the move to our home) and stuff to organize and put away...LOVE YOU ALL, THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS ERIC SAID THAT WHEN THE DOORS SWUNG OPEN HE WAS IN AWE...............I LOOKED UP AND SAW HIM AND ALMOST STARTED BAWLING....HE WAS SO HANDSOME....AND I HAVE PICS TO PROVE IT LOL!

I don't have pics of it yet but I have to tell ya'll this! Eric tricked me, and I am not an easy person to hide things from! We planned on driving my truck to the reception and I even went to great lengths to clean it up and make sure it was perfect...while we were outside getting the last of the outdoor pics taken his dad comes up to us and gets the keys to it...I was like ???? why is your dad taking the truck? I can't ride in yours (it's a farm truck and although it's not bad AT ALL it's NO PLACE for a solid white gown LOL! Well he ignored me and kept on smiling for the pics....as we were leaving the courtyard I asked again (like the 7th time) why are we driving your truck to the reception.... and he smiled and turned me around and there sat a black stretch limo! I was SHOCKED! They were all out there decorating it and I had walked right by it (on the way to the courtyard) and never even looked up and saw it!

Thank you all SOOOOOOOOO much, I was happy so I felt beautiful! Eric told his mom that I looked like a barbie doll and she said "Yes, but you can take this one out of the box and play with her"! I DIED LAUGHING WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT~!

We were very happy, and it's only getting better! If anyone reads the post in Shawna's journal I have great news! Eric and I are going to start trying to conceive! We both want a family and it's just the next step for us. I have an appointment on 8/15 to see a gyno and to get off the pill and to make sure I'm healthy and ready. We started talking about it on the way back Tuesday morning (from the honeymoon) and he was all for it. I love that man and like the songs says....I can see my future in his eyes!!!!!!!!!!

Karen- I am so sorry to hear that you're sick, what's wrong? Are you going to be OK.............now I'm worried! Anyone know whats wrong with her? Please let me know!

Okay I charted my cycle on line and found out when I will be ovulating in Aug/Sept/Oct and so on....I showed it to Eric and also showed him that for example if we conceived in Oct then I would deliver in July. He thinks that October would be a great time to start trying and I agree... So that means that next weekend I WILL NOT start another pack and we will practice "safe sex" until October in order to give my body time to adjust to the change in hormones or lack thereof and to get my cycles regulated (I understand that when you go off the pill they sometimes go crazy)! I am so excited. I couldn't wait until my doctor appointment on the 15th...so I looked it all up and got the answers I wanted. So now all I have to do is have the pre-pregnancy check up and get to practicing LOL!

Here are the names we have chosen and why:

Boy: Colton Wayne (Wayne is his father's middle name, Eric's middle name and Hunter's (first grandchild) is a tradition in Eric's family that I would be honored and pleased to follow!

Girl: Erica Grace (Erica is obviously in honor of Eric and Grace is a favorite name of mine...I even love Gracie (she may be nicknamed that)!

My father says I will have a boy...don't ask me how he came to that conclusion I just nod my head and say okay dad! LOL

Well, it's acutally Nicholas Scott. His father didn't know that until we left the hosp. HA! He wanted it to be just Nico Scott, but I wanted something that was going to be more presentable if he is ever president. President Nicholas Murray (providing J can adopt him). I think that sounds pretty good.

Have you heard that it is actually better to have your baby in the winter time? A doctor (whom I trust one hundred and fifty percent!) told me children born in the winter fair better to those that are born in the summer. Don't ask me why but that's what I was told...and Matt's brother and sisters and himself are all winter babies. (they believe this in Germany as well...don't ask me! lol) I am also a sort of winter baby and so is my brother....just thought I'd mention it...don't know how solid the whole idea is...lol. Good luck with everything. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I think we're headed in the direction of more ART. (assisted reproductive technology.) Probably towards IVF. (invetro fertilization.) I hope for the very best for you and Gwen and everyone else trying for a baby!! :D

Well I got a bit of a scare yesterday.........went to a eyerologist (Amish docotor who looks in your eyes and tells you what's wrong with you)...I kinda laughed but went anyway......I love Amish country and wanted to spend some time with the new family. Anyway the doc looks in my eyes and told me I have back problems (which I do), told me he could help me with my leg cramps (which keep me awake at night) and then asked if I had bad menstrual cramps...I don't.......never had any kind of problems with my reproductive system...but he gives me some herbal roots for endometreoisis....which scared the **** out of me and got me to crying.......Yeah tell the newlywed that just stopped taking BC Pills and plans on starting a family right away that she has that........UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I laughed it off but when I got home I panicked and started thinking OMG what if I can't have a baby, **** what If I'm too old..........I should have never went to that **** quack now I'm worried and probably have no reason to be! Anyway that's where I was yesterday if anyone missed me....Eric just hugged me tight last night and told me to stop worrying and that everything would be okay...I got mad at myself for worrying about it....I mean how solid is his diagnosis (not very)! I have an appt next week with a gyno for a pre pregnancy exam so I will be sure and ask him about that then....the last time I went I was told I was perfectly fine, functioning normally and would probably conceive without any problems...........hmmmmmmmmmmm OPINIONS....like @$$holes, everyone's got one.

I don't think that's true. My brother and I are both summer babies. I am an August baby so I am like in the hottest most miserable month. We were both strong and healthy babies. We had no problems at all. My mom swears we were so healthy because we were breast fed. Now I think that has alot of validity to it! :bblol:

Yes, I am a bit grumpy today!

Don't worry about the quack. Although I love the Amish, they aren't really on the forefront of modern scientific thought. These are people that still have outhouses in a lot of cases. You know your body. You aren't too old to have a baby. (My sil is 37 and pregnant with her first right now, no issues whatsoever.) Trust me, ifyou had endometriosis, you would have know long before your visit to this brillant Amish surgeon.

I'm trying not to! I took the vitamins anyway...I take a prenatal vitamin and have been for about 3 months so some calcium/magnesium (for leg cramps) and some Herbal stuff for "moodiness" LOL...I prefer to call it "being me"!

THIS IS MY VERSION OF YESTERDAY (FROM HIS PERSEPECTIVE)
1) tell her all this is wrong
2) get her to believe that herbs can cure it (cancer/aids/diabetes patients would LOVE to know this)!
3) sell her 18 bottles of STUFF for about 30.00 a bottle (no lie this was the actual amount he prescribed and the cost was 27.50 a bottle....)
4) make lots of money and still not use it for DEODORANT!

I just get scared sometimes because I'm 33 and just now married to the one I was meant to be with and we're getting such a late start on our family (but at least we are financially secure and mature enough to raise children)! But there are pros and cons to everything...he just caught me on a bad day and played up on my fears..........

I'm okay...thanks Lacey and Heather....what would I ever do without my girls?!

We are ALWAYS here for ya girl, even if we cant log on for 4 days.

Oh yes, you would have been having problems before now if you had it. And even if you did have it that does not mean you cannot have a baby. I have 2 cousins that have endometriosis and one of them has 2 kids and the other has 3 kids. Neither one of them even had problems conceiving. I also had a class with a guy whose wife had it, and they had a baby.

Ellen

I've been to an iridologist many times in my life! And I really believe in them. However, even western med doctors can and will be wrong, as can iridoligists. But here is the truth, you can have endo without having severe symptoms. And the only way to find out for sure is for them to do an HSG and then a endometrial biopsy. (i believe) Now after having said that, don't freak out! My brother's wife has the worst endo I have heard about and she has had three pregnancies and two births. I have a friend in high school who was diagonosed with endo and she has a beautiful son!! Don't get down on yourself...there are many things that can be over come. Lookit my grandmother...she had her right ovary completely removed and then she went on to have eight pregnancies and seven live births. You are NOT too old. More and more women are waiting until their thirties to have babies, and it's possible!! And if problems should arise, we should be thankful we live in the times that we do with all this ART. (assisted reproductive technology) Honey, just don't put the cart before the horse, give yourself time to try first and then a year down the road if things ain't happening see your gyno who will refer you to a RE. (reproductive endocronologist!)

Ok well I'm done with all these big words...my head now hurts for the day...lol..jk.

Take it easy Ellen! Things will work out for you, I know they will!! :D
Love you Hun!!

You are fine. You got to your doctor in a few days. Trust me, 33 is NOT to old to start a family. Like I said, my sil is 37 and just now starting hers. A lot of my friends and coworkers were around your age when they decided to start theirs' as well. It will all be fine. Just be sure to check with your doctor about the herbal stuff the smelly Amish guy sold you. Certain types of supplements and vitamins do NOT have to be FDA regulated. It is better to be safe and risk wasting the money.

I'm fine now...I just think he misdiagnosed me  ! I have an appt next Tuesday. Some iridioloigsts (sp?) may be fine but that one certainly won't be seeing me again.

Eric and I will continue as planned and have lots of fun getting us to the "pregnant" stage~!

Thanks for your words and I'm sorry to be talking about all of this in the middle of your own pregnancy battles, God will take care of both of us! I love you too!

Okay I have to share this............It's too **** funny.

Eric's ex was awarded their farm in court and she had to pay him 1/2 the equity because she convinced the judge that SHE was more deserving and that SHE worked so hard on it and kept it going and BLAH BLAH BLAH LIE LIE LIE....(she actaully wanted the money and to walk away from it but her lies backfired on her and cost her a HUGE amount of money and now she has a farm that she can't run and can't hire it taken care of (no one in this community is interested in helping her, due to what she did to Eric)! Plus she doesn't make enough money to pay the farm payment, her bills, the feed bills (for one horse and a dog!), the farm bills, and pay someone to do what has to be done because Eric got all the farm implements and the livestock...(hello tax deductions)!

Anyway shortly after the SHEFARMER was awarded the farm she started begging Eric to keep it mowed and bushhogged and the fences up and the tin on the roof of the barn repaired and then the auto waterers screwed up when it got cold and she didn't know what to do about that and so on and so on...basically the girl that KNOWS and DID it all had no clue or ability to run the farm and it was falling down around her. Well the latest indications that she is in trouble with the farm were when she asked his cousin to come and fix the tin on the barn roof (which he refused) and now she has placed and ad for BRUSH GOATS on petsell.com ROLFMAO LOL LOL LOL.....oh we laughed about that one!

I guess someone forgot to tell her that
1) they won't eat it all
2) they have to have special fencing (she can't take care of the fencing she has now)
3) they will STINK and leave excrements EVERYWHERE and that will need to be removed and
4) they will eventually start chewing on the fruit trees, the yard, the flowers and basically anything green that they feel like eating if she doesn't enclose them properly
5) the coyotes out there will have a FEAST on them
and
6) the people that own part of the property that adjoins hers aren't going to like the goat idea....and since her hay for her horse comes off their property and they have an easement on her property for access to their this could get interesting!

Eric says that we should go find one mean *** goat have someone sell it to her and laugh our rear ends off when it puts her up a tree!

I could care less I got the man of my dreams thanks to her stupidity but it sure is funny to watch little miss know it all drowning due to her own actions!

Wow Ellen...that is just too funny...I love it when people get what they deserve..lol!!!

I don't wish hard times on anyone and try to ignore stupidity and immaturity but this one was hard not to address, I mean BRUSH GOATS OMG...goat farming is a tremendously profitable business but this girl was so lazy that she slept on the couch and let a heifer prolapse and lost a calf and damaged the heifer beyone repair because she was ''tired" and it was "raining"....

She has no clue that when an electric box pops and cracks rapidly you need to go walk the fence line and find the short so that the cows don't find it and get out (which they did).....

She got what she deserved the day she woke up and realized that she just lost the most amazing loving caring man on God's green earth becasue she couldn't keep her knees together!

Ha Ha!!! What goes around, comes around. You really are farmers, aren't you, Ellen? It's so hard to imagine life like that. The most farming I ever do is picking up dog poop in the back yard so my grandbaby doesn't think it's mud. Yes, he did pick some up and play with it thinking it was mud. I almost died!!! I couldn't get him in a hot bath fast enough!!! :D

What we do right now is along with his dad, we live on 22 acres of his dad's farm so when his hay needs mowed or whatever we help, we help with his cattle (ours are in with his right now) and our horses are with his right now so we all pitch in together. His dad is retired and Eric works nights so most of the farming gets done while me and his mom are at work. The other stuff gets done on the weekends and that time is BUSY!

Once we get our 130 acre farm there will be TONS of work to do but we know that his mom and dad will help us. Eric is the hero not me...I just follow him around and do what he tells me to do, but I do stand beside him all the way!

Lol when I read this I thought of my princess SIL...who thinks being a farmer's wife means she gets to roll in the money and nothing else. I swear this girl is lazier than...than...well I don't know if there is anything lazier!! lol

My FIL just made an offer on a 70 quarters/11 000 ish acres and we are gonna have to work our tails off in the summer. We're lucky that we're not in cattle...it's not profitable enough in Canada to be in the Cow/Calf ops.

And Heather, I feel your pain when everyone teased you. That's how it was for me in high school....all those other kids wore pants hanging down to their knees and I was at school in Wranglers and boots. Sheesh! People!! Lol.

Well, the pants hanging to the knees thing came just as I was graduating, so I didn't have to deal w that too much. But holy moly!! What is the point in walking funny just to keep your pants up!?!

I really only got teased in Jr High. In high school, it started becoming "cool" to dress like a hick, so alot of the kids did. It was either that, or preppy. I was in a small town where fashion was about 5 years behind the citites.
