gosh I have a headache. I just found out our church is closing and i was supposed to get married there. The money is just not there apparently. I mean, I knew they did not have a lot of members, but they have always managed to get by all these years since I was a child. It was a Luthern Church. I wish they would have let me know. I'm calling around and not having much luck with a lot of churches, since I am not a member. I did find one. But since our wedding is in Pennsylvania (where I used to be from) and we are in Virginia we are going to have to look into trying to take some time off to go up there for all the pre-marital meetings. and now other than the time off I have booked already for the wedding, I don't have anymore time off :( I hope my supervisor will let me work overtime like 10 hours a day monday through thursday so i can take off on a friday and go up for the weekend a few times. Or else I don't know what I'm going to do. Sorry for the negative post, just a little sad at the moment.

Hang in there! You'll find a perfect place... I know nothing compares to the church you grew up in, but you'll find something!

thanks everyone.

I did find a church and the pastor is willing to do it, I talked ot her over the phone. I still need to find a way to get up there at least three times for some counseling though. I just hope my manager will be nice about me working the overtime at least three times to do it. The lady seems really nice, and the church looks nice. I went on their website.

That's too bad. I'm glad you were able to find someone willing to do it - I'm sure it'll all work out, even if you have to work hard to get up there for counseling sessions. :)

Well I think its fantastic that it all worked out! I'm sure you will be able to work out the thing with your hours and work. On the plus side you will be in pa a few times and can take care of a few loose ends before the big day!

If you explain the situation regarding getting time off the vicar or priest or whatever of the new church could be talked into doing all his counseling via telephone...or even better, what about via internet video conferencing? I think the three of you can get on together via some free internet service, and if you can't but he'd be willing...just send me a message and I can get something set up for you. You'll just need a computer with cam and internet on each end :)

Frankly, I consider church's closings to be sad events themselves, for reasons that your wedding demonstrates: where does the community go afterwards?
