Hi!

I'm new here to OW and I'm totally excited because I'm getting married!!! However there's a few icky bumps.

1. He asked me last Wednesday. I'm nervous about it not being as nice as possible due to the time crunch.

2. The day he asked me, my transmission went out. We're were going to pick out an engagement ring but not now. We have to spend $1950.00 on a transmission.

3. He has two children (10 and 3) with two different women and they need to hear it from him versus other random people. So mum's the word from me until he calls them. He hasn't yet. I'm frustrated.


I'm happy but at the same time I'm sort of overwhelmed and ughed out.

FH STILL hasn't contacted the mothers of his children regarding our upcoming nuptials. We're currently dealing with some disturbing behavior from an old friend of his so I can understand him wanting the drama at a minimum but I'm growing impatient.

At least I've made some decisions regarding the ceremony.

So he finally contacted everyone and I can finally tell everyone! I'm really excited and just working on collecting addresses now.

Congratz on your FH finally telling babies moms. I know that it doesn't seem real untill everyone knows.My Fh has yet to tell his mom, and weve been engaged for 2 years now(she didnt particularily like me at that time).We are telling her next month when she comes to visit, it won't fully seem real untill then. Welcome to OW, the women here are great and have good ideas, as well as honest opinions.

That's exactly what it was. It didn't seem real. I know that telling them was hard because they were less than decent about it but we're just going to take things as they come.

I got my dress yesterday!!!!!! I'm so in love with it. There are other dresses that I thought were the one but this one was it. It was just IT! I did NOT want to take it off. I'm so so in love with it and I'm SO blessed by my mom. She bought my dress, the veil, the tiara, the bra, the underskirt and the garment bag out right. I was only expecting her to help with a down payment. When she said she was paying for it outright I was shocked. When she paid for the WHOLE thing, my jaw literally dropped.

I completely forgot to have anyone take pictures of me in it because I was so shocked.

That's okay! I wasn't even allowed to take pictures in my dress....and it's technically a bridesmaids dress....ugh. Crazy bridal store people!

Hmmm. Maybe you can each pick a meal? We're having two different choices, although DH's mom picked them both because she's the one who went to the tasting. lol

Well there's some crazy scheduling conflicts so we're doing our ceremony one day and the reception the next. And the reception is going to be in my parents' backyard. I'm thinking bbq and he's cool with that. I also figured since he's from Minnesota we have to have fish. So since I was thinking BBQ I'm thinking fried fish. Most likely catfish or talipia (sp?). And I said this to him as he was getting ready for work this morning, after asking him if he trusted me to come up with the menu alone. (He paused and looked me and I started running through the menu.) He gives me this LOOK and was like....that's why I can't let you plan the menu alone. :P Apparently frying fish is offensive to fish.

So we have a reception site and the church. I have my dress and I have a cake all lined up. I have a seamtress lined up for the bridesmaid dresses and I feel good about almost everything. I'm having serious bridesmaid issues but screw them.

We have a tasting scheduled on Saturday!

I'm super excited. The venue is gorgeous and the food has gotten many rave reviews. I'm anxious and excited.

Wow it's been a LONG time.


Due to financial reasons and people, we scrapped the original wedding date and got married August 21, 2009. We're now planning a renewal ceremony to share our happiness with our family and we're doing it on our terms.
